Outstanding; one of the best courses in Florida
I'm an unabashed Pete Dye fan, which means I can find a lot to appreciate even in some of his more minor designs. But The Dye Preserve is undoubtedly a major work in his incredible career.
Here, Dye managed to outdo himself, refining an older original layout of his and turn a flat, swampy rectangular plot of land into a cerebral marvel of a course. There is plenty of room to play off the tee, as long as the player makes smart decisions about what club to hit and where to aim. Shorter holes like the drivable par-4 5th and the par fives, all of which can be reachable, provide both temptation and trouble. Immaculately kept, the course also has an incredible sense of texture, with tightly packed coquina waste areas, two different types of rough (St. Augustine and Bermuda), plus pine straw and love grass awaiting stray shots (not to mention water hazards on several holes). The green complexes are thoughtful, too, exacting severe penalties for short-sided approach shots.
It is no wonder that several professional golfers - Daniel Berger, Louis Oosthuizen and several LPGA players - sharpen their games at The Dye Preserve. If you can play well here, you can play well anywhere.
Amazing place
The Dye was my home course for 2 years and I could not speak any better about a course then here. The greens are fantastic and the course makes you think day after day. The course and practice facilities were a great place to spend my days and I look forward to going back again.
Pristine
Dye Preserve represents everything you would expect from a private South Florida golf course. A challenging and fun design that rewards great drives, and makes you play different shots off the tee. There is not a blade of grass out of place, and the clubhouse/locker room is the icing on the cake to a pristine facility.
