The Ridge Golf & Gardens
About
The rolling countryside occupied by The Ridge Golf & Gardens (formerly known as Buck Ridge Golf Course) provides an ideal landscape for a round of golf. The nearby farmhouses add to the course's rustic appeal. The layout closely follows the natural contours of the land and trees, ponds, and landscaping were tactfully added to blend seamlessly with the natural terrain. There are a total of five ponds, which come into play on eight holes. A number of bunkers are strategically placed around the large greens and there are also rough areas to watch out for. Although the golf course is relatively young, the skillful use of the mature trees makes it seem as though it has been around much longer. The eighth hole, the layout's longest par 3, is one of the toughest. It plays directly over water to the right side of the green. Before playing The Ridge Golf & Gardens, golfers can warm up on the large practice green.

relaxing round
staff fabulous, food and drink prices...excellent! layout is fun and challenging.
will go again.
Great greens! Hidden Gem!
What a hidden Gem! This course is so fun to play especially if you are somewhat of a long hitter. There are probably 4 or 5 holes you can *try* to drive the green, but be warned, trouble all around. A true risk reward golf course. Greens were in great shape and staff was very friendly. Will play again!!! Highly recommended.
Thank you for your 5 Star review! We are thrilled to hear that you have spent an enjoyable day on our course and will continue to play future rounds with us. See you soon!
Nice course, needs some work
Overall I was pleased with it. The course Is very friendly, just enough hazards to make it interesting. Greens were in great shape but the fairways need some work, crab grass and imperfections beyond divots were present on numerous holes. Front nine is open and back has more trees. Lack of a driving range was disappointing especially since online it says they have one, and clubhouse isn'tmuch more than a concession stand. Staff was very friendly. Not the best course I've played but certainly not the worst. I'd play it again especially at the price.
We're happy to hear that you would play with us again! Thanks for your feedback. We will take it into consideration as we are constantly working on improving our course. Looking forward to seeing you in the future!
Get What You Pay For
Course doesn't have much character, but OK for price. Wouldn't play again. Cart was awful as you had to choke it every time you started.
We're sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your round with us, Shirleyware. We always strive for the best possible golfer experience and we hope you'll give us another chance to wow you.
Fast greens but well worth the money!
Greens are lightning fast. Course was well maintained and looks great. Heavy grass roughs make any missed fairway on the front side painful.
Thank you so much for the excellent review, Tobi34! We appreciate the feedback and we hope to see you again soon!
Nice Course for the Money
It's hard to provide a fair review when it's still March in the Midwest so I won't focus on the conditions, which overall were pretty good given the time of year.
The staff was friendly and courteous. There were a lot of people on the course, especially for Easter Sunday, so obviously people in the area like it. They weren't quite ready for a lot of play as they didn't have logo balls yet (I like to get one at each new course I play) and the tee boxes weren't fully prepared.
The course is in a nice country setting, with the exception of the McMansions popping up on the one side. The layout is fairly easy and there weren't any holes that I just didn't like. If you're fairly long off of the tee you'll find the course to play short. That said, the wind can make it quite a bit harder. The greens were average speed and rolled pretty nicely. I made a few long putts and when I missed it was totally on me. They held fairly well, but I would still call them a little hard.
I plan to go back in the summer when the course has a chance to fully green up and play like it should I paid less than $20 for 18 holes with a cart and I can tell you it was a bargain. Met some nice people as well.
Thanks so much for the wonderful review, PinHunter2763! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your round with us and we hope to see you again soon!
Buck Ridge 3-26-16
Challenging course for an intermediate player.
Great feedback, Jay3239706! We look forward to seeing you again soon!
Friendly course
This is a course where I'm able to bring my son that's just beginning to play and not cost me a pile of cash. It's also one of the full length tracks that he enjoys playing. There is enough challenge for both of us and the undulating greens aren't so fast that he gets frustrated putting them. The staff is very friendly and he feels comfortable playing there, wanting to come back again.
Thank you for reviewing us! We are happy to hear that you enjoy bringing your son to our course. We would love to have you both back soon for another round!
Could be better
The course has a lot of water and need some work done to it and can be better but for the rate of splay it again if it is t so windy the entire round.
We appreciate you taking the time to leave a review, Louis2783349! Conditions will improve as we move into the season and we hope you'll make the trip to play us again!
Like playing off the cement!!
I am glad I only paid $12 to play this course. The course hasn't seen any form of liquid since the guy in front of us peed behind the tree on the fourth hole. I know it is late in the season but a little water might save the grass that is left on the course for next year. I would not recommend.
Very Nice Course
I love playing at Buck Ridge. Very good condition and very friendly people.
Curate's Egg
First impression is not positive - the driveway and parking lot need work. Staff very friendly and helpful. Some of the carts have seen better days.
Practice green excellent and very similar to most greens on the course.
Front nine starts gently, downhill, with all hazards visible. Interesting par 5 (3) followed by dogleg par 4 and well protected par 3. Toughest hole on the front is 6, with water protecting the entire right side and the green, OB left. Decent pars 4, 3 and 5 complete the front.
Back nine has more trees, a pond in the fairway of the par-5 12th, and OB along the entire left side from 10 to 15. Challenging par 3 (16), uphill par 5 (17) and tree-protected par 4 (18) to finish teh round.
Pros - greens and fringes in great shape, great variety of holes, price.
Cons: see above, plus some tee-boxes and fairways no the best.
On balance, a fun course.
Average at Best
Played mid morning to mid afternoon_ conditions were perfect--fairways were dry and had a lot of crab grass--greens were ingood shape and have some challenging slope to them--some bunkers were very rough(rocks and stones) and most needed turned and sand added--evidently most patrons don't know what a rake is for---no bad for reduced hot deal $$$
Dry, dissappointed
We played here last year midseason and felt the course needed watering, and this season is the same. The greens are in good shape, but some fairways and all of the rough are almost unplayable due to being hard as concrete! The layout is interesting, most holes bearing east-west and not very many trees. The one advantage of being hard is you get a lot of run on shots. Most teeboxes did not have the markers set, so you just picked a spot to tee off from. Also, the carts are very slow!!!
Labor day Excursion to Marysville
We had a good time on this course - pace was excellent (not at all busy on the course), and weather was perfect. Some of the tee boxes were not in great shape, and the water hazards swallowed more than a few balls today.
We'll be back to this area for sure, there seem to be 4-5 courses quite close to one another.
Nice return visit
Glad to find it was still open. I had heard it had not opened for play this year. Enjoyable, pleasant layout with several excellent, challenging holes. Overall good condition(except for the bunkers) and an excellent value.
Never again
The pace of play was brutal. The people in front of me had no idea of golf etiquette. No golf marshal to oversee play and the conditions were below par. No beer girl either.
This course was a 30 minute drive and I don't see any reason to come back.
This course has great features.
This course has great features, most of the fairways are wide not a lot of trees pretty easy scoring course
great time but....
Golf course was an interseting layout - a few significant dog legs requiring some ability to shape shots - fairways were a bit dried out and the bunkers were not consistent - but playable - Greens were GREAT! definately worht a visit
down side-
there was a Par 5 on the back 12 i think - that did have a pond midway down the fairway that wasnt on the scorecard hole overview?
after the round the staff was accomodating however a grumpy old man in the clubhouse was a bit of a loud mouth jerk - it could have gotten ulgy for him had we not taken the high road - i think he is a regular there - so be ware of a heavy older man who runs his mouth!!! Hates the Buckeyes so if you want to have some fun bad mouth the SEC - oh yeah the jerk completely involed himself into our private conversation at our table !!!! RUDE cant blame the staff other than i wont be back until later this year or next - maybe decline the business of those keeping folks away from your course????
Great Course dusty cart paths
I have played Buck Ridge many times and the course is in awesome condition. The cart paths this time of year are very dusty and need to be sprayed down with something. But overall a great day for golf.
Thank you for your review! We're pleased to hear you've enjoyed your experience with us. Looking forward to having you back!
