Crandon Golf at Key Biscayne
About
Subtle but enticing, Crandon is a well-planned challenge built in 1972 by Robert von Hagge and Bruce Devlin. In 1993, a redesign by von Hagge brought new greens and bunker configurations. Formerly known as "The Links at Key Biscayne" Crandon Park Golf Course is a championship 18-hole golf course located on the "island paradise" of Key Biscayne, just 10 minutes from downtown Miami.
The course has the world's largest tee, seven saltwater lakes, challenging sand traps, mangrove thickets, and many holes overlooking Biscayne Bay.
You can see crocodiles (they have three), numerous raccoons and Jurassic-sized iguanas darting across the course. The blue and tri-colored herons, white ibises, snowy egrets, pelicans and anhinga grace the fairway roughs and saltwater banks.
From the first hole - a dogleg par 5 that requires a drive over water and mangroves - to the last - another par 5 with water on both sides of the fairway - Crandon Park Golf Course has, in many ways, become Miami-Dade's signature public golf course.

Always a pleasure
This is a very nice course for south miami,
the course is in great shape but do not forget the bug spray.
Not a good course to play
Rude starter
Extremely slow play with no marshal
Also encountered a snake
Golf outing with co-workers
Very nice public course with a friendly staff. The course lay-out is challenging and fun. I would recommend this course to anyone.
Poor communication
I played yesterday for my birthday, drove 45 minutes to get there not one time was I notified by Golf Now that the course was under heavy maintenance and that you had to play the back nine twice being that they were working on the front line and for $110 you have to be out of your mind
The over all condition was just ok but the greens were nice the fairways and tee boxes need some work to them
Will not be going back anytime soon dave your money and play some place else
Crandon Bay
Heard a lot about this course and given the history of Senior tournaments it was highly anticipated but came away less than impressed.
Conditions were very good, impressive for public courses in summer in Miami, but multiple blind tee shots just became tiresome.
Extremely slow play and never saw a marshal trying to push anyone along.
Take caution on Number 1 fairway - I hit a great blind tee shot over trees on this par 5 dogleg left with only 200 to the green. While waiting for the green to clear I was nearly hit by 3 of 4 tee shots from the group behind me.
Take caution on number 7 tee box (par 3) as it sits next to the end of a short driving range. As we pulled up to the tee we wondered why all of these green balls were everywhere and then it was madness trying to a hit a tee shot as ball after ball thumped on our tee box.
It was nice to play outside of my rotation of Biltmore-Trump-Eagle Trace and Emerald Hills but I would not go out of my way to play here again.
Vacation Round
I think this was an excellent course to get the feel for being in Miami. Being here on vacation out of town this course definitely had an exotic tropical feel to it that I enjoyed. The wildlife around the course was also a welcome addition (except for mosquitos).
Course was generally in good condition. Club house had very standard offerings at the bar/grill. My rental clubs were above average.
Course layout was great, views were great, no real complaints except for how many balls I lost!
LH's Course Review
Played Crandon many years ago. Brought my son for his 1st time. We loved it. EXCEPT for the ridiculous clouds of mosquitoes on the back 9. Will bring spray & fogger next time. However, there should be a truck with a fogger that goes around the course to help alleviate the situation.
Mosquito bites
In a nutshell, I wouldn't play here ever again.
The overall course condition was pretty bad. The fairway did not maintained well and I saw a lot of dead grass patch on the putting green.
What makes worst is the mosquitos. I had more than 20 mosquito bites in first none holes. It was horrible.
Overall, it is not worth playing this course with that amount of money.....
Bring bug spray
Excellent course -- way harder than I anticipated, even with looking online. BUT... bring mosquito spray. Holy cow was it absolutely covered in mosquitos, starting with the first par three over the mangroves & water and basically anytime near any water (which was most holes).
Hidden Gem
Great course layout. Located on the bay surrounded by mangroves. The course could definitely use some tlc in certain areas but the good things about this course outweighs the bad. Bring your A game.
Greens are still recovering from aeration but were very playable.
Great course in decent shape. Looming thundershowers allowed a 3 hour round!!!
Worth twice the price at that pace!!!
