NorthStar Golf Club
About
NorthStar Golf Club measures out to a whopping 7,351 yards, which makes it one the longest golf courses in Ohio. The layout covers over 350 acres of woodlands interspersed with 21 ponds and three rambling creeks. Water is definitely a prominent presence on the course but there are also 41 sand bunkers strategically placed throughout. Being such a lengthy golf course, long hitters will have a chance to shine but sharp short game skills and accuracy are also vital to getting a good score. The versatile NorthStar layout is made even more playable with five different sets of tees that accommodate golfers of all skill levels. The semi-private course is open to guests everyday and the club offers all the extra amenities of a private club including an expansive heated pool and two tennis courts.

A natural beauty. And fun.
My first round of golf in Ohio. It was a gorgeous October day after the fog burned off.
Course was a bit soggy from recent rains, and pace of play was slowed by that fog delay. But that didn't hinder enjoyment of the course as it has intriguing holes, some near-diabolical greens (#2), and is in lush condition.
From the tips, it'd be an entertaining challenge for almost any amateur.

Northstar is always a great course to play. It is very challenging yet fair. We rarely get backed up during play and are able to usually finish inside of 4 to 4 1/2 hours. It is well worth the trip to Sunberry to play this gem.
Very difficult from the Championship Tee
One of our young guy wanted to test out the course from the back tees 7512 yds on a hot day. Course can be extremely tough when you don't carry your tee shot at least 240+. He got tired and quit after 15 holes from heat exhaustion and rest of the old guys finished but we were all pooped out after our round. Layout is always great. Greens have recovered from the aeration and rolls pretty well. Fairways have lot of dead grass area and low lying muddy area but most of the courses in the area have this issues at current time due to higher than normal temperatures mixed in with sudden down pours. Great course to play if you can get a decent rate.
Lots of water hazards, some dry greens
Good course, not impressed with the staff
Great course, a little quirky
Enjoybale course, be prepared to use all of you clubs. A few holes are a bit quirky; some course knowledge is definitely a plus (ravines/water that you may not see from the fairway).
Even though not incredibly crowded, had some marshals out to monitor pace of play. Good to know that they do that even when not needed; wish courses that needed marshals would pay attention. Stopped playing a few because of that lack.
Probably not for walkers (although a single walker did play in front of us). Numerous long treks from green to next tee.
Great course, st!ff a bit weak
Played on a Saturday range was closed because they had not picked balls. Range was covered with them- no one to go get them? For a course of this caliber I think this is a problem. The course is in perfect shape and the golf is great!
Pace of play was SLOOOOOOWWWWW
Northstar is a good golf course in nice condition. I've played there a number of times. Due to the difficulty and amount of trouble on most of their holes, the pace of play is usually poor. During our 7/24/16 round, several complaints were made during the round by multiple groups regarding a lead foursome who were two holes behind. The clubhouse staff did nothing to respond to or help the situation. All ensuing groups were forced to wait several minutes for each shot from the second hole forward. FRUSTRATING!
This course needs several rangers roaming the course and during our round there was no evidence of anyone monitoring the pace of play.
Course is challenging and fun
Greens are fairly big with lots of contours. Overall the course is fair and there are lots of tee box options.
Tough course- in great shspe
Enjoyed this course, staff friendly and pushed golfers to stay on pace. Target greens and not much water.
Wide Fairways, but Accurate Approach Needed
Very nice course, especially for the Hot Deal price of $22. Layout is very nice with wide fairways and some sand to interfere. Greens were in nice shape and rolled well. Ending up on the wrong side of the green for a chip/pitch shot is problematic at Northstar. With that in mind, pay close attention. Overall, a great course to play anytime you can get there.
Will go back to North Star
Even though the course was above my pay-grade, I will go back because it was so nicely laid-out, spacious, and no homes looming over the course.
Northstar Hot -Deal
We played using a hot deal from Golfnow. It was windy when we started but settled down aftewr a while. The course was in great shape, the only complaint was some of the tee boxes needed some work. The staff was friendly and helpful;. We will play this course again.
very slow play
for some reason an 8some was let out in front of us and slowed everything down, very wide open course
Good Round!
The course is great but it was really wet! I would play this course again.
Great time
Course was very nice to play, pace was a bit slow due to weather. Look fwd to playing here again.
Par 5's
Course layout excellent until you get the par 5's. Not a fan of double doglegs especially #10. Hole #8 is the only par 5 that seems to be fair.
December golf in Ohio
North Star is an excellent course and facility. Even with it being early December the course was in excellent condition. A wide variety of tee boxes let you choose a distance good for your group. Many great holes. We really enjoy this course. Our group would play it more but it is simply overpriced during the season.
Nov 29th Golf in Ohio!
Considering it was the 29th of November in north central Ohio, overall weather and course conditions were exceptional!
Lovely greens!
The layout is somewhat of a challenge with the wind blowing. The greens rolled perfect even this late into the season. The last three holes i think are the best finishing hole strech i've played this year. Starts off with a challenging par 5, then a shorter par 3 over water and finsih on a deceiving par 4. Would play again for a golfnow hot deal only.
Great Challenge
Course is in great shape, other than par 3 on back nine, greens were great and FAST! Bunkers were exceptional. Any time you can play this for under $40 it is worth it! Played from the blue tees and is quite the challenge! Over 7000 yards but ball was rolling and they have cut the rough down.
There's no way they let an 8some out. They have a policy against playing groups larger than 4. If they didn't catch it because they failed to have a marshal, that's on them.
