Hilly!!
Hilly course. Was not on my game but the course was beautiful. Greens were great speeds.
Worst conditions I have ever played in
Burned out fairways and tee boxes, especially the women's tee boxes.. they were practically sand. Weeds growing in the fairways. Aerated greens extremely slow and bumpy with sand on them. It's not for lack of effort trying to keep the place green though. We saw sprinklers on all day. The kicker to the day was when we were on the tee box and a sprinkler popped up and soaked all of us. Including my mom in the golf cart. In all honesty mighta been the highlight of the day as we got a good laugh out of it. The course layout is nice, a bit hilly for my liking. But if it was in good condition it would be nice. Unfortunately, it's not. At all.
A great afternoon of golf
This course is a very nice layout. Most of the fairways are pretty tight so you have to hit the ball straight. The greens are quick and very nice. Cart paths are kind of rough and the only drawback to this otherwise Great course. Would definitely play here again and recommend you do too
Best kept secret of the Ohio Valley
The fairways are plush like a country club! Love this course!
This course is great
Really good shape Nice place
What a deal!
For the money, you can't beat it. Beautiful course with lots of hills. Greens rolled fast and true. Don't let the yardage fool you. It can play tough. Only complaint is leaves were everywhere. Lost a few balls hitting into leaves just of off the fairway.
Great value!!!
It's about time I left a review for this course. Played it 3 times this year. Has been in great shape each time. A couple wet spots in a fairway here and there, but not a big deal. Fast and challenging greens that roll very well. Not just a great value course, but a great course in general.
Well maintained course with friendly staff.
Drove 1-1/2 hours to play this course on recommendation of a friend. Really enjoyed this layout. We travel and try to play a different course every week. Best course we played this year. The fairways were in great shape except for a few wet spots that couldn't be helped. We've played many courses and these greens at Blackmoor might be the best around. The contour of the greens and their unique designs made them not only difficult but fun to play. Pace of play was great. Great price. A must play. You won't be disappointed!
Very Challenging
This course has a nice layout and is very challenging. Tight fairways, fast greens, lots of trees and hills. You will lose a lot of balls unless you are dead straight with your shots. I love the layout and try to play it when I can, but it's a hike for me.
Great greens
This course greens are very tough, some are almost impossible, a great challenge. Can not beat it for the money great pace of play, played 18 in 3 and a half hours with a 4 some. Go to this course!!!!!
Blackmoor's a Great course
The greens are perfect and challenging. The greens can hold a long iron or short iron and can still putt fast. These are some of the best public greens any where. I rate them as good if not better than some premium courses I've played.
The shot making is unique each hole and you will be punished for a poor golf shot, as you should be.
I recommend the course and enjoy the challenge.
Great Shape
Course is in great shape. Fairways cut nice. Greens are undulated, but roll nice. Most holes have visible yardage markers. But, they are needed on all holes to sped up play. Pace of play can be slow as guys in front of us were hitting multiple balls. Plus a 5 some was on the course. If there was a marshal, we never saw him.
if you don't mind a few hills
Blackmoor is a nice track. Gotta keep the ball below the hole on several of the holes. You can score on this course if you hitting the ball straight. Greens are in excellent shape.
Great course
Beautiful course, well kept, great value......................................
Blackmoor never disappoints
I have always loved playing Blackmoor. Great course and always in excellent condition. The trees and hills provide a great amphitheater for golf. Bottom line is that it is a fantastic value for the money. Hard to find a better deal.
Be sure to ride at this course
A very pretty course just off route 22 near Wintersville. Course plays longer than the card says, as most holes are to uphill greens. Par 3s are also generally over large ravines. No water hazards, and only a few bunkers. A lot of elevated tee shots makes for shorter, but uphill approaches.
Course is extremely hilly, do not even think about walking this one!!
A true test of course management
It's early in the golf season and there hasn't been very many warm days. I've played this course before in the summer time and it was in terrific shape and I was impressed that it was already in great shape. The fairways grass is already full and mowed to a good height. The greens were smooth and had very nice speed to them and were very receptive to approach shots. The course is nestled in the woods so there isn't any distractions other than the occasional squirrel. The course features many unique holes with a nice variety of clubs being used. To score well you will need to rely on good course management. The only downside was hunting for yardages. Some were written on the cart paths, some were on plates in the fairway. Some I never found. Since the carts don't have GPS you would think that yardage markers would be abundant and quickly recognizable. If you walk the course plan on extra steps walking around trying to find a yardage marker. The course is easy to get to from US 22 and SR 43. The club house was nice and the people very pleasant. Didn't eat there so I have no idea about the food or its price. I found this course to be a good test of golf at a very fair price. If you have a range finder bring it and enjoy a good golf course.
Blackmoor
First time playing this course. First time using Golf Now app to schedule tee time. Used a Hot Deal to book a Saturday tee time for $24. Crazy cheap. Staff was friendly and helpful. I didn't print my confirmation receipt but they already had it printed for me there. Nice course. Just off of 22. Quiet location. No houses around the course. Rolling terrain with multiple unlevel lies. Fairways are pretty open but are tree lined. Greens are nice and decent sized but are fairly undulating with possible difficult pin placements. Driving range looked real nice but did not use. Will play again.
