The Preserve Golf Club at Tara features Ted McAnlis' par 72, championship golf course. Exceptional care was taken to protect and enhance wetlands and other natural features of the course. At just over 7,000 yards, the course offers four sets of tees, allowing players of all skill levels to enjoy a challenging round of golf. Eleven bridges span the many small streams running through the golf course, protecting natural waterfalls and wetland habitats. A unique feature is the 60 foot Mount Matthew, which sits between the driving zones of hole five and six and forms an impressive backdrop for the tee shot. A beautiful clubhouse is open for lunch daily and is perfect for seminars, banquets or receptions.

Always able to get on the course

The course has a good playable layout. but the day I played it had h 4 plus inches of rain the night before. The first three hole were soggy but dried out after that. Although the cart paths remained wet and muddy. So that being said it was good as usual but still in need of some grass on the tees and fairways.. i will be back.

The Pits

Stay away, Greens just punched, fairway's are more dirt than grass. Tee boxes are scrub grass and dirt. Lots of rot around edges of greens. Save your money. I'm telling you the place is a mess

Hot day at Tara Preserve

The fairways are in poor condition - greens ok just.
This was my first time on this course and I found it somewhat difficult. Lot of water and lost balls because hitting over dingles. But I will play it again as I like a challenge.

Needs to be closed for repair

I played here back in July and the course was a nice layout and some what challenging. However today the fairways were missing most did exist. The greens were ok and some tee boxes need repair. Weeds growing on some tee boxes the lack of grass on others. I wondered why is this course open with all these problems. They need to shut down and correct all these issue before reopening.

Missing grass

Missing large areas of grass on tees and fairways. Greens are in good shape, but the course should have been closed until repaired. Very expensive for a course that largely qualified as ground under repair. Extremely disappointed.

Fun times

Awesome time on this course. Some fairways a little rough, but it’s summertime in Florida. Great value.

Needs water

The tee boxes and a lot of the fairways were bare. I like the layout and the variety of tees but they need to water the course and plant some grass of it will become unplayable very soon.

Needs a lot of work

Tara Preserve is one of my favorite courses in the Sarasota/Bradenton area due to challenging and tight layout but preserve-like feel...when it’s good condition. This course has deteriorated rapidly over the summer due to change in ownership and it needs major work to return to its former glory. Most tee boxes are just sandboxs and some fairways were literally just dirt and mud, greens in rough shape around edges. I knew the course was in rough shape but was shocked to see how bad it’s gotten, I only played because the hot deal was $10. New ownership will need to put a lot of money into renovating this course. Will happily return when they do, but don’t plan on playing here again until then

not suitable for play

No grass in fairways,or around the greens. No grass means mud on ball after every shot that does not land in a bunker or on a green. Course should undergo a complete renovation to improve conditions. This will take some time and considerable dollars. Until that happens they will continue to lose play and have a bad reputation that they may never recover from. Good Luck!!

Lots of water

I’m new to golf..so the water was tough to deal with. The fairways were in pretty bad shape but for the price it was worth it. $14 with cart..

Awful

This course is clearly going through some things....
The greens were ok but all the grass around the green was awful. Massive water puddles all over the course. It took me 4 hours to play 18 which is absolutely ridiculous. To top this off I asked how much the used titelist clubs were; they have a sign above saying “now 599” the guy tried to sell me a used driver irons and putter for 2300?!?! Horrible staff and course, I will never be back!

Intimidating

The course had lots of water. Many tees required a good drive just to clear the water. Very hard to reach greens in regulation from the white tee....Fairways were in poor condition, but greens were well maintained;
