The Preserve Golf Club
About
The Preserve Golf Club at Tara features Ted McAnlis' par 72, championship golf course. Exceptional care was taken to protect and enhance wetlands and other natural features of the course. At just over 7,000 yards, the course offers four sets of tees, allowing players of all skill levels to enjoy a challenging round of golf. Eleven bridges span the many small streams running through the golf course, protecting natural waterfalls and wetland habitats. A unique feature is the 60 foot Mount Matthew, which sits between the driving zones of hole five and six and forms an impressive backdrop for the tee shot. A beautiful clubhouse is open for lunch daily and is perfect for seminars, banquets or receptions.

Affordable but greens need SOS
Good price for AM golf for snowbird season but greens need a lot of tlc
Don’t go there
Went yesterday. I had a 1:31 tee time. There we no carts. People waiting since 12:30. Took 45 minutes past tee time to get get a cart. Course was like a bomb hit it. They used sand to patch holes all over each green. Like one foot by one foot or more. Could not even put. Left after nine which took almost 3 hours….
Wow, what happened here?
I used to play this course 15-20 years ago every trip to Sarasota we made. It was always in great shape. Greens, tees, fairways were always great. Well I finally played this again last year and was shocked how poor it had become. I chalked it up to bad weather and gave it another chance this past week. It actually got worse in the one year. The tee boxes are completely sand and dirt. No grass at all. The fairways are mostly dead grass. Hard pan. The greens have suffered from animal damage so every green has been filled in with sand to make them smooth. They are horrible. The bridges crossing the creeks and streams have deteriorated so bad it looks like they may fall into the water soon. The wood needs complete replacing. It pains me to write this as this used to be such a gorgeous course. Hopefully this gets sold to someone who wants to put the money into it and bring it back to glory.
Not very good
I had a 1205 tee time. When I got to the 1st tee, no starter, the cart was there but no person. At the 1st tee there was 8 carts full of golfers. A group of 24 seniors playing best ball.
I went back to the pro shop and asked what was going on . A dumbfounded look by the staff.
Went downhill from there.
Dog patch!!
STAY AWAY
Terrible
I have played this course 60 to 70 times in the past. It was never great but acceptable at the price. It is now the worst course I've played in 60 years of golf.
Very bad course
They would have to pay me to play this course.again Greens terrible. Fairways barely playable. Very narrow and layup areas very narrow . Good place for a goat ranch as that is what it is
Must read Reviews before playing
The Staff I found to be very friendly unfortunately for them ownership should just shut it down. The whole course is in terrible shape I am still having a hard time understanding how anyone could take such a great layout and totally ignore taking care of it. Only one green out of eighteen had grass the fairways are weeds The general manager and owners should be ashamed of themselves They can’t have a greens keeper because there is no grass to cut .
A wreck
Greens are ruined. Birds, crickets and others have destroyed the greens. The upkeep of the entire course has made Tara Preserve a miserable experience. It is worth less than $20 to play.
Tuesday, February 13 golf
My partner and I have played this course once a week for the last two years, and he has gotten worse. Every time we play that all of the greens were torn up by either moles, or birds, and it’s obvious that the greens were not taken care of to prevent bugs and moles, from being there this was an atrocity I’ve never seen Greene’s so bad I really wanted to ask for my money back but I knew I wouldn’t gonna get any so I thought I’d leave a very bad review and maybe someone will do something about it. We are a long time Sarasota residence since 1985 and have never seen a worse greens than what we played on Tuesday. please do something about the greens and make this course favorable again it used to be one of our favorite now we just hope we can get through around without falling through the holes in the greens
Poorly maintained
Greens are filled with holes, bunker like sand holes on greens, it’s obvious this course is not being taken care of and does not warrant returning to. Too many other courses in area that cost the same or less that are maintained.
Worst course in Florida?
Wife and I played there today. Tees to greens were the worst I’ve ever seen….and we play a lot of different courses. It seems they’ve totally given up maintaining anything. I would be totally embarrassed to bring anyone there. We will NEVER go back.
Could be better
This golf course has the potential to be a great golf course. Burnt out greens with sand to replace the grass. The owners could spend alittle more energy to upgrade the gold course
Course conditions
Preserve course should not be considered a golf course its said to see that happy to a beatafui course they really should refund your money or comp you another round very disappointing day.Good to see you take this kind of intrest in your course.thak you Bill Swart.
