Gets worse each time
I have played this course three times over three years. Unfortunately, it has gotten worse every year. There is no fairway grass and the greens are worse than others I've played after they aerated. Simply disappointing and in my pinion not worth the time. So many weeds on the greens, no maintenance and it was obvious that sand traps were not cleaned or raked in quite some time.
Don’t do it
I booked a tee time because I wanted a cheap place to play. Big mistake. Putting in the greens was like playing plinko with all the weeds. Hitting on the fairway was worse, like playing out a concrete sand box.
If you want cheap, go for it but There is much better around for $10-15 more and you will enjoy the play.
I will say one positive is the course layout is fun and very narrow. Makes it a challenge.
Hello, cruzmatt86. Thank you for leaving us a review. We are sorry to hear your experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you will give us another try in the future. Thank you for choosing The Spruce Creek Preserve Golf Club.
Good Layout, but the greens.........
I like the course layout as a decent challenge. There are enough woods to keep you honest.
Tee boxes were fine. Fairways hard, rolling, but managable. Grrens need a lot more attention - extremely choppy and not manicured well for plant growth spots, very difficult to get a fair roll.

Too Many Players for tee times
Had a 8:12 tee time -got to the course at 7:55 am. Noticed first tee had 16 carts lined up for tee times? Mgr. said people who had tee times for a foursome showed up with 8 plus people to play more than once tee time. Mgr told us to tee off on back side, we did. when we finished and ready to go to front side their were 6-10 carts waiting to tee off, we decided this is wrong so we only played 9 holes packed up clubs and left--never had this experience EVER ON A COURSE!

Not recommended
Pace of play was very slow. Club house employee really had no idea when I was going out, tee time was 9:07, I didn’t tee off until 9:45 due to how many people were in line for the first tee. The greens were in terrible shape crab grass everywhere and pot holes all over them it was like playing plinko when putting. I guess for 37 bucks that’s what you get

Enjoyed the round!
We play at Spruce Creek often, tee times are usually available, pace is good and although the greens and fairways are not the best for the price it’s still a good value, just don’t expect a championship course! The staff is friendly, carts are clean and very good condition. We definitely recommend if you’re looking for a afordable course in a pleasant setting.
Greens are Bad
The greens are almost unplayable. Weeds and dead grass.

Needs more grass on fairways. Greens were pretty good. Really liked the course and will play again soon. Thanks

Great Deal
Solid course. Some greens less then good condition. But for the money an excellent experience.
Great Layout, Poor Condition
For the money, it is one of the best around, but I would gladly pay twice as much if that's what they need to get the greens in good condition. On most of the greens it's like playing plinko. And a few of the greens actually have so many spots without grass that it almost makes no sense to even putt. I'm a firm believer that golfers will tolerate a lot of unfavorable conditions as long as the greens are in good shape. You put the ball on a tee at the tee box and you can roll the ball around in the fairway to find grass but greens, they just have to be in good shape.
The staff has always been great each time I've been there, and the layout of the course is awesome. There are many tea boxes to choose from, making the length of course good for all players. The bunkers on the course are in decent shape. Pace of play can vary. I've been there on weekdays in the afternoon when you could play in 3 hours and I've been there on the weekend when it takes four and a half.
Overall it's a good track, but the greens need a lot of work.
