Clearwater Country Club

About
Located just minutes from the beach, the conveniently situated Clearwater Country Club sprawls across a coastal landscape of Spanish moss-draped trees and towering, mature oaks. Stevenson Creek meanders through the golf course, coming into play on six holes. Built in 1920, the layout has a traditional design that is challenging but fair. The course is tight but it plays long, especially on the par 5s. The rolling fairways are well manicured and the greens play at medium speed and are consistently well maintained. Clearwater C.C. actually has a reputation amongst locals for its superb conditions. It is also popular with visitors, snowbirds specifically, since the club offers the area's only seasonal and short-season membership with exclusive privileges. It is also one of the few clubs in the area that allows walking.

The course has great features
The course was in great shape. The greens were in excellent shape.Played the round in good time

Not Well Maintained
Tee Boxes were littered with broken tees, fairways not well maintained, bathrooms were overflowing with paper towel in the morning which indicates they weren’t cleaned. On a positive note, greens were in excellent condition. Would not go back
Best public course in area
By far the best public course in the area. Got out at 7:40am and finished in under 4 hours. Must have just redone their green because they were in perfect condition.
Don’t recommend
5.5 hour round, Friday 10am tee time. Waited on every tee box. Multiple pinch points on the course where more than two tee times were stacked up. Greens were in good shape but slow. If you don’t land in the middle of the fairway, you might as well be playing off the grass in your backyard.
Mediocre course
Great greens! Tees and fairways are fair but limited good lies in fairways. The rough is not good. Overall I would play it again as the price is fair for the conditions.
Best greens in area
The greens are some of the best in the area, very akin to most private courses. Staff were friendly. I did get to play behind a six man group, so that slowed things down, but overall the course was one of the best in the area.
Ok
Enjoyed the round due to people I was playing with. There was a skins match ahead of us and they allowed a sevensome to play which was ridiculous. Very slow because of this.
Good price if you have 5.5 hours
Played this course today for the first time. Arrived and there were no carts available. Once we teed off there were major backups. Definitely the longest round of golf I’ve ever played. Also, the group behind us (specifically a guy in a bright yellow cart) hit into us 3 times. No ranger out on the course to speed up play and only saw the cart girl once. Not a fan of how the place is run. Slow greens as well. But it is in decent shape and for the money it’s not bad. I would play again if pace of play was sped up. Just be weary of a loooong day.
Always slow play normally over 4 and a half hrs to play
Nice course layout
Visually the course is very nice to play, when I played, the course itself was not in the greatest shape. The greens and fairways were not that great, but overall, the course was in pretty good condition and if you go and play in the afternoon, the pace of play is great because there’s hardly anyone out there! Just expect to pay a little bit more because of where it is, in a private resort area!
