Jewel of SW Florida
This course brings a smile to my face everytime. The tee times were seperated at correct intervals rendering a good pace of play for the most part albeit an occasional slow group. The ranger will inform slow groups & good pace returns.
The greens rolled true & not uncontrollably fast or slow.
Give Shell Point a try you won't be disappointed.
It’s all good
Pristine conditions in every aspect. Outstanding staff is very helpful and friendly. Greens are excellent and roll true. Tee boxes are level in great shape. Good challenge with water coming into play on many holes. Beautiful place should be a must play for all levels.
Great course and great pace
Excellent course and value for your money. This icourse is designed for precision and excellent greens with a perfect pace.
Used rental clubs, for $30 you get outdated clubs and not all same gender. Bag of mixed clubs.... greens were great but fairway was so so. No rangers to help speed up play. Need more yardage markers. No cart person driving around on the weekend. No alcohol sold there. Don’t pay full price for your round
decent golf course
we had a good round in decent time on a well maintained golf course.
the only Con was the booking on the GolfNow homepage which obviously has malfunctions.
next time we will book directly at the pro shop !
One of the best!
I go to Fort Myers every year for a week of golf. I had played Shell Point several years ago before it was upgraded, so wasn’t expecting a lot. It was a nice course back then, just nothing special. Wow, what a surprise! The course was incredible, probably the best I’ve played in the area. The greens are definitely the best I’ve ever played on. The front nine had recently reopened after being renovated so we expected it would be nice, but with one (picky) exception the back nine was just as nice. One fairway on the back was a little hard with uneven growth, but that only stands out because the rest of the course was so beautiful. The one issue that took away from the experience just a little was the on-going construction. Shell Point is a huge residential and extended care facility, and it’s being expanded. As a result, major construction is occurring off the course. The only impacts were cart path detours on a couple holes, and the range was closed. No playing areas were affected though, so it was easy to ignore the construction. Overall a fantastic course, now clearly at the top of our list.
Good Greens, Unfortunately no alligators, Not the Last round I‘ve played there...will come back for sure
Have played this course in the fall for years, starting 15 years ago on a guy's golf trip. What an amazing trip watching this course improve over the years! In the beginning it was just an ok course. Now it is beautiful from start to finish! Fairways, tees, and greens are in great shape. Shorter par 4s than other courses, but lots of trouble to find if you don't know your club distances. Overall, I would play this course everyday! A little construction noise currently, but no big deal. Couple more temporary signs would help through the construction area. I would like to see them bring in Sky Caddie people to redo the changes to the course. No booze, but that's ok too! Great job, Shell Point!!
This course is in excellent condition. the white tees are pretty easy, so you may want to move back from your norm. Greens were a great pace and almost flawless. I only found one brown area in the fairways. the roughs are pretty short, so easy to recover from. Holes are well laid out with plenty of water hazards. we finished behind a mixed foursome in 4 hours.
Fabulous Couese - not to be missed
Most enjoyable course - be sure not to miss the opportunity to play
Excellent course but not for beginners
Loved this challenging , well kept course.Starter was very informative. Since there was some construction going on. Traversing from holes 4 to 5 was in need of better signage. Would have appreciated it if the soda vending machines were stocked and working. Also the bathroom on the back nine was in terrible shape. Otherwise a class act.
Course was in great shape
6 sets of tees so distances for every type of golfer. We played blues. Challenging but fun. Play was a little slower but it was a great day. Only complaint was that our tee time was at 11:08 and the snack bar closes at 11:00. Luckily the cart guy told us so we went there right after check in to get a hot dog. Make sure to bring something if you play in the afternoon. And need to eat.
The course recently re-grassed the front nine with paspalum turf. It is spectacular.
The course is nice especially the front nine since it was re-grassed with paspalum turf. The pace of play was awful, there was a single between two foursomes.
Super course - In great condition. Greens were excellent- perhaps a little slow but very true.
The entire course was beautifully manicured and had may well laid out holes.
There was some construction happening around the course which could have caused some confusion in getting from some greens to the next tee. Fortunately for us we were paired up with a couple who knew the course well - perhaps better signage would help.
Found it very strange that there was no facility for snacks at the mid way return to the clubhouse. The professional shop suggested the main restaurant in the clubhouse but using it would have caused a hold up oh what was a very full timesheet.
Fortunately our partners had come better equipped than us and generously shared their snacks. Seriously though - you’re out there for four and a half hours so come prepared as the lack of this facility is a problem.
Overall though - a great experience- definitely one we will repeat whilst we are in the area over the next ten days.
The front nine had been closed for renovation since July and just reopened - great shape
