Scotland Yards Golf Club
Scotland Yards Golf Club, as its name implies, has a traditional links-style layout that is reminiscent of the traditional links courses of England and Scotland. It offers the experience of classic Scottish golf with the convenient of being only 20 miles north of Tampa. The golf course tumbles across the gently rolling hills of west central Florida. The course plays long and it features wildly undulating greens that require tremendous accuracy. True to its links nature, there is little water but there are plenty of pot bunkers treacherously lurking throughout. The signature hole is the par-5 second. At 554 yards, it is the longest hole on the course and it is only rarely reached in two. The demanding third shot is uphill to a green that is fiercely guarded in front by two massive mounds and pot bunkers.

course was in terrible condition and I would not be interested in playing this course again in its present condition not would I recommend it to any of my golfing friends.
Neglected year after year
See my previous review, trying to upload the pictures on this review. Greens are very sad.
2 plus years of regression!
Found a 14$ hot deal on a Saturday morning at 10am and took a shot. 1 car in the parking lot when I arrived. The good news: It only took me 2 hours to play 18. End of good news.
No range and the putting green is just about all dirt. The lady inside was polite, but in previous visits the owner has complained about golf now saying he makes no money when its booked online.
Every green had bare sandy spots and very thin grass, a few on the back 9 were a bit better but they were all very bad. Tees are uneven and most are lumpy and spotty at best. Fairways are mowed but look like regular lawn grass and not your typical fairway seed. This course has been severely neglected and it shows. Such a shame because the layout is great with lots of elevation and tricky greens to read when they are in good shape, which hasnt happened in years. I've played this course off and on for nearly 10 years and it used to be well maintained. The current owner just purchased Lexington oaks and has replaced thier greens but hasnt done anything with this place. Many for sale signs in the neighborhood on the course...never a good sign. If it stays open another year, I'll be shocked. Its 1 step up over just hitting range balls but only if you can get it cheap...
Sanding the greens
They were sanding the greens ahead of us and we had to wait 5-10 minutes every hole on the back side.
!st time playing. You need to know where the fairway is. It looks wide open, but, the fairways are not as wide as they look. Hint. Stay in the fairway. There was no food available after the round.
I normally consider all factors in reviewing a course but the conditions of this course are very poor. The only real positive was the staff I had interaction with. From the tee boxes to the fairways to the bunkers to the greens, this course needs help in all areas. If you pay more than $10.00 to $14.00 to play, just be forewarned.
Love the layout, course is mediocre quality
It’s worth playing a round just because it’s a fine links style layout. While the layout is outstanding, the course is in mediocre shape, having been brought back to life a few years ago. The greens and fairways need work, but overall I had a great time playing it. I understand that the operating costs of keeping up a course can be astronomical. Omari’s bar and grill is fantastic and the dining hall is excellent.
The course is in transition right now or I hope it is for as rough and beat up as the course is. A lot of dead trees on this course that need to come out. Front nine greens in terrible shape but they look like they are being worked on. Would not recommend this course at this time. Will see how it looks in a few months.
This year the course conditions are less than adequate. The fairways need attention with the mowing. The greens are extremely slow due mostly to the grass not being closely cut. On the day we were there, the tee markers were removed for mowing on the majority of the holes, but we saw only two mowing machines on the entire course for the day. There was a machine following behind us on the holes we played and appeared to be "paintjng" the greens. Many of the greens had bare sandy sections.
Understaffed, overpriced, greens slow, fairways miserable, t boxes like a hayfield. Shouldn’t pay more tha 15$ to play here. Keep hoping every year that it will improve but it’s always a wreck.
THIS COURSE ISN'T GOOD AT ALL. GREENS ARE REEL BAD, FAIRWAYS NOT MUCH BETTER. EVEN THE HOT DOG I PURCHASED AT THE TURN WAS TERIBLE. IT HAD TO BE COOKING FOR 2 DAYS. ONE BITE AND IT WAS IN THE GARBAGE. THIS COURSE IS A LAST RESORT OPTION. SHOULD NOT PAY MORE THEN $15 TO PLAY HERE.
DON'T SAY YOU WERE NOT WORNED!
Enjoyable Round of Golf
Very Nice Course, could use a touch up here and there, but very playable. 2nd time playing here and I will be back. Nice Course for the Golf Now price ...
Great coarse, yes like most places they have a couple greens that need some extra attention. Minor stuff. The setting and some of the views while playing is un matched of anywhere I have played in Florida so far. For the price, the feee lunch, definitely will come back!!
A few of the greens need some work but overall it is a fun course to play.
