Course has slipped
Course was not in good shape. Had a temporary green, was not informed of this and we were charged normal rates. I have played these three nines many times and was never disappointed before. It is going to be awhile before these agronomy issues are resolved.
temporary green
The course has a temporary green due to pythium. 3 greens have been sodded. Overall, there are weeds and crabgrass everywhere. The fairways are thin and greens have bare spots everywhere!
Nice layout
The course had a nice layout . The greens were a little slow and conditions were average. Staff and members were very friendly. I would recommend playing it but not paying top dollar.
Fun course to play........Pelican Preserve is worth the drive
Course was in excellent condition. Nice layout with lots of challenging holes. Big fairways with large greens makes a great day out.
Pelican Preserve
Nice course in generally good condition. Very wide- open, with no sand traps. All sandy areas are coquina (hard shell sand mixture) so you can ground your club there. Good course for players with rusty games to get back in sync. Greens are quite big so better players still need to hit to the right spot, or three putt. I like the course and try to play when in the area.
Not a great experience
When we checked in, we were told we had to play the Egret 9 twice, because there was a tournament on the other two nines. Had we known, we would have booked somewhere else.
The first 9 holes were really slow, and we never saw a marshall to move things along.
Note, they strictly enforce their dress code. One in our group was wearing cargo shorts, and they told him he couldn't play unless he changed. He put on rain pants over his shorts, and then took them off once we got out on the course.
excellent course for all handi-cap players
every golf hole different look , nothing tricky all hazards right in front of you. greens fun to putt on
Fun course
Great conditions. Good staff. Nice practice facilities (no extra charge).
good enough
I have played at Pelican Preserve perhaps 6 times this summer. Conditions are improving as the season nears.
Great greens
As Floridians, we are surprised at this time of year that it did not rain. Course in great shape and fun to play.
Cargo Shorts
I actually never got to play this course since I was wearing cargo shorts and found out when I got there, that this wasn't allowed. No exceptions!! Kinda ridiculous. So just a shoutout to anyone who plays this course....wear khaki shorts.
More sand on the greens than on the beach
I attempted to play 18 this morning. I played 3 and gave up. The course was a swamp, apparently it rained a lot yesterday and they don't have good drainage. That wasn't bad enough though, as the greens were ridiculously sandy. Putting was pretty much impossible as it was horribly slow and the ball jumped off line. And the old people in front of me, hit 3 shots before passing the ladies tee. And the group in front of them was walking the lake shore like asking turtles if they had seen their Calloway. I paid $40, asked for a refund for 9 as I played 3. And was told I could only get a rain check. I am vacationing from PA and was terribly disappointed that I wasted time and money on this place.
GREAT COURSE
Great course. Greens were punched 5 days ago but greens were rolling great. Loved the course layout and the very friendly staff
Can't wait to play this course during the winter
Terrible Time
Course was good except for the greens which looked like bunkers. Sand all over the greens. Staff was the worst I've ever dealt with at a golf course. Don't play here!
Overall a nice Course
Wide fairways but you can get yourself in trouble in certain spots. Was in good condition but very slow greens, staff was very friendly. Wasn't anything spectacular but a nice course overall.
Great first time play
Course was in excellent condition, laid out well. staff extremely nice,, will play again.
Well taken care of
Starting with the pro shop, the employees were nice and informative. The golf course was in great shape as usual. Greens were good and even with the rain, it was off the path until it poured again.
One suggestion, for this time of year, build a few shelters for players to wait out the rain.
Good value
This was not my first time playing here. The course is always in great shape and staff friendly. This time we were sent out on the front where some maintenance had been performed and greens were under work conditions but ok. On the back all was good and I will play this course again and enjoy it.
