Mt. Woodson golf course.

Course is beautiful. Very tight hit straight or kiss it goodbye. Bring extra balls.

Great course, but missing on club house

Very picturesque and probably the most fun cart path system I have been on! The course plays well and is moderately challenging. Despite the surrounding estate homes and beautiful buildings associated with the course, the club house is shocking. Not much better than a mobile home. Small, poorly appointed, and too rowdy.

Pro Shop Employee 1/10

Everything was fine with the round except the start of it. When I walked into the pro shop the worker, I believe his name was Michelangelo, was just staring... felt strange. No welcome or hello or how can I help, literally just stared. So we said hello how are you today and he replied “good, do you have a tee time?” Holy cow! What if I just stopped by to check out some merch just for the heck of it? Maybe show someone around? And I did bring a friend for his first time… I have brought several people to Mt Woodson because it use to be my favorite place to be. Sometimes not even to play, just to shop the pro shop, eat some food and socialize. George the starter is awesome! Very nice guy! Wish he owned the place. Anyways, Michelangelo, made me feel unwelcome from the start. I told him my tee time and he just handed the key and receipt, then said to be at the starter 10 minutes prior.
I grabbed some food and a drink and waited for our time. The younger woman and nice man in the kitchen were fast and friendly! Everything was great about the food experience! Even the cart girl was nice! As for the golf itself, it’s a beautiful place to be, challenging but short, and the greens are rolling nicely. Fairways a little wet and a little dry in areas but not bad. The golf round was fine overall, I just didn’t feel the positive energy present because of the very first interaction i had at Mt Woodson. It just kind of threw the whole round off. I’d recommend to have Michelangelo work a different position and/or I’d highly recommend training him to be a more welcoming pro shop host to keep players/customers coming back.

Beautiful and Challenging course

Not a walkable course, the drives between holes are long but beautiful, with some pretty impressive backgrounds and scenery. Lots of hills make for a lot of up and down, with some challenging lies. Great value for the money. Wish it had a proper driving range though.

Beautiful

Incredible setting. Very hard course requiring accuracy. Cannot wait to play it again. Some course knowledge would be helpful. No driving range.

Mt. Woodson is good, play it

If you like Mountain golf Woodson will not disappoint. Great course lay out using the natural topography of the Mountain and ravines. Lots of elevation change and undulations. Large eucalyptus trees shape many tee shots and driver is not required on many holes. The greens were in great shape. Would definitely play again.

Outstanding Course

A bit out of the way from San Diego but well worth the drive. The course was in great shape for this time of year. I would play this course very often if I lived anywhere near it. My playing partner had lost a few balls, and he felt the course was more difficult for him.

Very considerate

I accidentally selected only 1 person when making my reservations. They let us play as five as long as kept pace, which of course we did. He actually came out and checked on us, which was completely professional as well.

Mt. Woodson-A Hidden Jewel

I don’t where to begin. All my experiences with play and staff and amenities on this course were great. The layout and beauty of the course was simply amazing. The course was challenging but not so difficult that one couldn’t enjoy it. The views were phenomenal and layout was well done. I recommend any golfers in the area to play here. I will definitely like to play it again when I’m visiting the area.

Rude staff.

I made a reservation for 3 players through GolfNow for Oct. 14, Saturday @10:40 AM. One of the players got hurt the night before and texted me at 9 PM - too late for me to call the course. When I checked in and told the person at the pro shop about the person not being able to make it, he responded with a very rude way, “And you couldn’t call us?” When I told him that I got the notice late in the evening, he replied, “I don’t care. We still have to pay GolfNow”. So I offer to pay the penalty - but he charged me the whole greens fee of $80. I did pay the whole $80, but do you pay the whole $80 to GolfNow.com? And did he have to be so rude? Things do happen to people where they just can’t make the tee time. I realize that we need to give you plenty of time for the slot to be filled, but you also have to understand that things happen to people unexpectedly. Also, you don’t have to be so rude about it. I liked the course but had a very bad experience while checking in.
