this course is a great layout
both 9's were great layout and conditions were perfect.
nice greens
Awesome! Very playable yet challenging, Tips are all you want.
Great Sunday afternoon
The course was a little wet in spots - to be expected after all the rain we've had lately - but drains very well and wasn't much of an issue. Estuary is a very difficult nine but was tempered by the easier Tributary to finish up.
Outstanding off-season value
This is an exceptionally well- maintained course with lots of shotmaking challenges but not impossible to manage for less skilled players. Forced carries tend to be on the approach not the drive. The three nines are rotated so you're never playing on freshly punched greens, and the greens recover fast. Of the three nines I think Estuary the most interesting but all have appeal. Golfnow rates make this an exceptional value. Not a good course to walk due to long trips from green to tee.
Beautiful
Gorgeous course. Everything is manicured to an extremely high level. The way the course is carved through conservation land is beautiful. It looks like every square foot of the two 9's I played was considered and executed excellently. I played Sanctuary to Estuary. I found it extremely difficult playing from the blues with the huge amount of water in play and the strategic bunkers around the course. My only complaint would be the aquarange.... I generally dont like them because you can not see the distance your ball travels and you cannot see the spin you're imparting on your ball. Otherwise this course was a great experience.
Great course.
Even better as a "HOT DEAL".... Would play this again without question
fun golf course
Green speed posted at 10.0. Greens were very nice and fast.
Course in mostly forgiving off the tee. We played it at 6300 yards. Around the greens can be difficult but fun. A couple par 3s were very tough.
Piece of play was almost 5 hours. That's typical for a nice course on a holiday. Some people cannot comprehend how to play faster.
I'd say this course is too tough for a beginner. Lots of water and forced caries. If they pick up after 6 or 8 shots that would be a big help.
Beautiful course
Greens were in great shape fairways were a little muddy but it's been raining a lot out east practice greens , driving range & chipping greens were in good shape went with my dad will be back for sure
first timers
Booked on line not ever playing there before. What a surprise . Staff was friendly and polite. Course was in great shape. Be sure to bring plenty of balls. Lot of good risk and reward
The Best
River Strand is one of the best courses we have played in the area. Lucky for us we got paired with a member and he was giving us tips about where to hit too. Course in great shape, we got caught in a 5 min down pour, then the sun came out. A great value on golf now, with summer rates.
Good Course for middle hanidcap players
The Arthur Hills Designed course was challenging for us mid handicap players (14-20) course conditions were good, greens somewhat slow but they rolled well. Some of the tee boxes need work and several areas of the fairway need work. They have put new sod around a lot of the greens to improve conditions. The starter was very friendly and helpful.
john p
Course good shape blue tees not for beginners greens running at 10 also they lost some Bermuda in roughs next to fairways
Terrible conditions
Fairways are all burned out. I play this course all the time- great staff, nice layout usually great shape but this time it was terrible- greens ok
Great layout - Sanctuary - Estuary
I always enjoy this course. Great layout which requires you to truly think about each shot. Some great risk / reward holes which can make or break your score. Greens were smooth and fast, very good shape. The rest of the course was hit or miss with regard to condition. I love this course, but must admit that the conditions were a bit disappointing. Many areas of the rough, were burned out, or spotty with weeds and bald spots. Many of the fairways and tee boxes were chewed up with divot marks that had not been tended to. Overall, for the price, I felt it was well worth it, but unless they increase watering and fertilizing of the entire course and addressing the divot issues (especially before the hot summer season), this course could sadly slip into rough shape.
River Strand review
We played the Sanctuary on the front 9 and the Estuary on the back 9. Both were great courses and in great condition. I'd highly recommend River Strand to any avid golfer.
Great experience
Challenging, friendly staff, good overall experience. best couse in area.
bring your A game
with the wind up, the hundreds of bunkers and water on each hole, you need to hit the ball straight and long to score on this well groomed course.
Great course
Course was in excellent shape as always. Would highly recommend playing.
Must play and putt
You need your A game here if you have a big fade or draw on your drive add 2 strokes per hole the 4th hole on the Estuary is a intimidating island green surrounded with sand a Desert Oasis A good Drive and a must good wedge for this hole and the 7th is another great one. The bunkers are well placed a little tip for this course if you usually use the white tees try the blues at this course it will keep you out of the bunkers. I will play this course again and again
high score
Awesome and challenging course. My foursome all enjoyed the course. One couple has played 120 different courses and they ranked this one in their top 20. They scored higher than their handicaps but enjoyed playing the course.
