no service at the bag drop
There was no one at the bag drop and you had to take care of your bags uot and in to the pro shop area. However, when finnishing the round the yangsters at once came to wipe the clubs.
Fairways uncut and no roll as they were even two weeks earlier.
Slow playing pace; 5 hours even though the course was half empty because of the cancellations due to "car path only"!
Challenging course
Course was in excellent condition although the fairways could do with a cut on the Estuary nine. A lot of water comes into play which made it quite challenging at times. Greens are fast and tricky but in perfect condition. It was a pleasure to play.
Golf Now Screwed Up
Tis course is well worth the opportunity to play it. During the winter season it is almost impossible to get a tee time unless you want to pay $99.00
My experience was ruined by Golf Now as the course had been oversewed and it was cart path only! Fairways are very wide so the amount of walking was more than I could comfortably walk. By the time I reached the 13th hole I was spent.
Decent course for first time experience, but...
For a first time experience, I found the course in decent shape and quite challenging with many sand traps and ponds. My only complaint is the rest rooms on the course are locked and require a key press combination to access but there was no information on the golf cart or card indicating the combination. And I would consider it to be the best value based on what other nearby courses with similar conditions have to offer.
This is a very good course
A very good course, good fairways and plain and fast greens, freindly staff.
All golfers will like this course
Try this course
Three 9 hole tracks and each one has its own personality. It will challenge any level.
Pleasant Surprise
I had a wonderful round of golf playing the Estuary and Tributary courses. The layout by Arthur Hills was very impressive. You have to play smart, and calculate your risk/reward on many of your shots, especially approach shots to the par 4's. Their par 3 are fantastic, Majority of greens are rolling, and you have to pay attention to the pin placements, as it could be a two club difference. Lots of traps, both in the fairways, and protecting the greens. You will never get bored playing this course, no matter how much you play it. I didn't give the course conditions an excellent, since the greens were still healing from aeration. But they are very puttable.
great course....... staff not so much
Cart boy made a comment when me and my friend didnt want our clubs wiped down,,,,we clean them as we go and didnt have any money on us anyway to tip him, therefore we did not need it. He basically called us cheap and made a comment to his fellow worker thinking i didnt hear him. Well I did, and when I called him out on it he backpedaled real quick. Needless to say we had a talk inside.
A great course
The course is very nice 7 out of 10 for t-boxes, fairways and the greens. The practice facilities are great the only knock I have is that the range is water. You won't be disappointed about this course even if you can't get it for a deal on golf now.
JM
This is good and fun course for average to above average players. However, the guy at the pro shop said that the course would soon be all private and therefore not available to general public golfers like myself. True? Maybe, maybe not. Anyway, while the course is still open to the public, its well worth the time and fee.
River Strand
Excellent course. One concern would be with regard to a single individual being able to get on the course during the season (November thru April) ?
Enjoyable
I played the Sanctuary and the Tributary 9's. With a handicap of 14 (I have had my handicap down to a 9 a few years back), I found that the large fairways and resort style made the round relatively enjoyable. The greens were in great shape. The only reason I did not give the course conditions an excellent rating was because we have had an abundance of rain over the last 6 weeks. However, there were only a few spots where i had to roll the ball to get out of casual water (soppy wet...not under water). The course was relatively empty so I could play at a good pace. Because of the wetness, it was cart path only. I look forward to playing it again under some drier conditions.
beautiful layout with exceptional greens
River Strand was recommended by a friend who lived in the area, and all I can say is" what a treat". I played the santuary and estuary courses both were in tip top shape from tee to green.
According to the sign posted the greens were rolling at 9.6, which is not super fast ,however ,they were very receptive on approach shots and chips around the greens. The greens surface were very smooth and rolled true.
From the blue tees slope 139, the course was demanding off the tee, with medium sized undulating greens, which are guarded by bunkers. If you are looking for a course that is in phenomenal shape, this is it!
I'm from the Jacksonville area and would compare River Strand to St.Johns golf CC, Palencia, TPC VALLEY or Amelia National . It's just that good.
Well Kept
The course conditions were very good. I would recommend this track for the more experienced golfer. The front nine was noisy because of all the construction, but the back was peaceful.
It's good
Great course. I'd play it again great shape even stayed while it was raining
Not as good as expected
Don't get me wrong, this is a great golf course and I will play again. All other reviews talk about their greens.... Well they didn't live up to the hype. One nine was closed to punch the greens, back nine was punched, front nine that had nice fast greens but weren't very true. Many spots around greens that have bare spots as well as in fairways. Very short course even from the tips. Very strategic, position golf required to score low. I think in prime conditions this course would be fantastic.
Great Course but you need all day to play
Went yesterday, the course is in excellent condtion. greens are rolling great and the course is as green and full as possible. However the round was not very enjoyable due to it taking 5 and a half hours to play.
Fast and Deep
Fast greens and deep bunkers. Played the Sanctuary course for the front nine and then played the Tributary course for the back nine. Everything was in excellent condition. The course is well thought out and we'll maintained. I enjoyed all aspects of it, or maybe it was because I posted a 78. Oh yea!
Takes a day to play!
5.5 hours to play. Inadequate ranger services. One of the most well kept courses. Flawless in all areas. Greens fast and true. Unfortunately the pace of play will deter me from coming back.
