Keys Gate Golf Club

It is the closest public course near Key Largo. Coolest feature is a water driving range. It was fun hitting balls into the lake on purpose. Matts only, no grass tees. Fairways are terrible. Mostly weeds or 3 different kinds of grasses growing together. Around the greens, not much grass under the ball. Forget about hitting any flop shots. The greens are rock hard making it difficult to stop the ball. Many have bare spots or sand on them. I didn't get to try the food but there was no beverage cart service and I was playing from 10-2. The course has potential but has been neglected.

Course has many interesting golf holes-par 4's that dog leg left and right--short par 3's and long par 3's.
Very picturesque with much wildlife. Pace of play by group in front of us was quite frustrating.

Great clubhouse & fairway bathrooms, but greens poor, fairways poor.

We played on both 2/13 and 2/15. On 2/13, the wind was 30 miles per hour and because the course is narrow, we lost a lot of balls. This was our inexperience. But, overall the course could do with some money invested in better greens and attention to the fairways.

We went down to spend some time in the Keys and found this course close by. The greens on the front were absolutely hideous with no grass on most of the greens just plenty of sand. There's no grass on the fairways, just weeds......same thing for all the tee boxes. It's a good layout and the back 9 seemed a little better. It's pushing it for 45 bucks....the place needs some work.......

A little TLC would go a long way, it's a good course
with some challenging holes. Greens need some work but playable

Some management would benafit this facility. Perhaps a starter and some attention to the condition of the course.

We played this course numerous times early last year and it was a beautiful course. When we played last fall, they had started to do some renovations. We thought that perhaps by now the renovations would be completed. This was not the case at all. Every green was nothing but sand. It was like trying to putt while standing in a bunker. Hole #2, the hole was in the middle of the fairway. We were told after we paid for our round on GolfNow and after we showed up to play that there was a "temporary" hole on #2. Not once were we warned about the conditions of all the other holes. I will never again play this course or recommend it to anyone. The picture I have uploaded was the green that was in the "best" condition. As you can see, it was not so great!

We enjoyed the experience. The greens were a bit dry, but it was a pleasure to find a course close to home, in the keys. The staff couldn't be more cordial and the price, fantastic. Hope to visit this course many more times in the future.

This course needs attention. The tee boxes were chewed up badly, the fairways were weeds and mud, the greens were rough and poorly maintained

I've been playing golf for over 10 years and I don't think i've played a course with worst conditions than this one. You can't tell the difference between the rough and the fairways. The greens are full of weeds, leaves, and other indescribable objects. If they didn't have flags i wouldn't have been able to tell where the green is. The tee boxes barely had any grass in them. I'm never going back ever again.

My 1st time here but could only play 9. Too much rain made the course unplayable. Got a raincheck to play the back 9 another time, but I would have come back without that. Loved the layout on the front 9 but couldn't really tell how maintained it was because of the rain the previous few days.

The course use to be very nice however its been 4 or 5 years since I played it, now its in very bad shape and is in need of a new greens keeper.

Even though it was dirt cheap, the course was truely in rough shape. I would not recommend this course to anyone who wants to enjoy their round.

It was an ok course. Super friendly staff and an all around good experience.

Fun to play. Nice variation of holes with water in play on most of the holes. Sometimes course in great shape but always seems to be in a catchup mode of repair. A great value to play if you can get a round under $30.00 dollars.

Keys gate has been having problems for a while. It always looks like they're working on it, but no real improvement since last year. It's great because it's never crowded.

Course is in poor shape. Pin on the first hole was about 20 yards in front of the green, just stuck in the ground (no cup). Only play this course if you pay less than about $15!

The folks there were professionals as far as service offered. This course was being worked on as I was playing. There's a couple of holes that are in need of some maintenance. There are houses around the course, but they do not interfere with play. I appreciate the warm up bucket of ball to practice at the range (over the water) before palying round. Overall decent course, but there is room for improvement. Seem like recent rain storm has done some damage to grass, but you can't really blame the staff for that.

Also, while I there everyone seem to play at a good speed. Thank God.
