About
Ideally situated between the vibrant Miami nightlife and laid back atmosphere of the Florida Keys, Keys Gate Golf Club offers the best of south Florida golf. The lush landscape is covered in lakes and ponds that come into play on nearly every hole. Jut a short drive from the coast, the course enjoys warm ocean breezes. Overall the golf course is wide-open but there are swaying palms scattered throughout providing some challenges but mostly scenery. The layout features small greens and manicured fairways. There are also a few treacherously placed bunkers along the fairways and greensides. Keys Gate has garnered a large following since it offers a good value. Golfers from as farm south as Marathon Key have been known to come up for a round.

Good Bye Keys Gate
I really loved playing this course, never too busy. I guess that's the reason why they closed their doors. Yes, that's right Keys Gate closed their doors effective 9 October 2014. I wish someone buy this course and re-open it. I am a begginer player and this course was perfect for me. The course definitely needed some work but helped me improve my game. Good Bye Keys Gate.
Good Value
The Golf Now Hot Deal made the green fees very affordable. Even though the condition of the course was not the best , the facility is nice and the price was right!
Get what you pay off
Fairways and tees mostly green. Greens were dry and burnt but still playable. Course needs some better maintenance. If your golfing in the summer take MOSQUITO SPRAY, and don't hit your ball near or under the banyan trees. I got swarmed in less than 30 seconds.
Muck and Mosquito infested
Back 9 holes are underwater not possible to play and the entire course is infested with thousands of mosquitoes. Not a very pleasant place to play 18 holes. Spend a little more and go elsewhere.
the mosquitos won!!
First, nobody told us, at the club house, that we could not play the first 9 holes, the course was under maintenance. So we went to hole number 10, and start, trying to play those back 9 twice.
But we lost at the first hole!! The mosquitos were the big winners!!! Impossible to play without being attack by hundreds of them!
This golf course is closed to the everglades. So, don't even try to play during the summer. And not sure about winter!!
Good luck!
rained out but happy
i was rained out about 6 holes in , but that was okay, the course was not well kept; the grass was very high and the greens were not in good shape. unfortunate because it was a nice course a few years back but not anymore.
Average
The course was really muddy. The tee boxes and greens were average. A couple of greens looked like they were burned. The roughs were in really bad shape, a minimum of 4 inches in most areas and as much as 6 or more in others. If you hit your ball in the rough say goodbye. I lost three myself. I got a hot deal from golfnow.com and it cost me 15 bucks if I paid full price I would have been a bit upset. I will play this course again when it has dried up. The staff was great and friendly and ready to go beyond to help with any questions or problems you might have have.
it,s a fun course
the course was infested with mosquitos, unable to play.
assessor
the course was in poor condition. Has a very nice layout, but the greens, fairways and tee boxes need some TLC. Could be a beautiful and challenging course with better grass on the tees and greens and fairways.
Horrible coarse
Every single green minus two were awful, the entire coarse was awful, I would lose my ball in the fairway because the grass was too high ON THE FAIRWAY... Let alone off the fairway nearly impossible to play, I wouldn't come back even if it was free ..
Great value
Nice course, they're working out the kinks. Friendly staff and great layout. $30 for 18 w/ cart on a Saturday. Less then 4 hours to play a round.
Too many bugs
Staff was friendly and you can't beat the price. Course conditions could have been better and there were far too many bugs . The bugs distracted my swing on multiple occasions .
I like its wide open fairways....
Not a bad course just could use some upgrades. I enjoy playing here very convenient ..
Fairways need grass and greens are horrible!!
Have booked several rounds the past few weeks with no weather problems...however, are booked for this Thursday and the prediction is for rain, which means we forfeit our money. Will think twice before doing this again!!
Deplorable greens and fairways
I played this course for 12.50 and I can honestly say I was extremely disappointed. The greens and fairways are disgusting. I played this course many years ago and it was a great course. I don't know what happened but thus need to get control or keys gate will be a bust.
Very average
Awful greens, uneven tee boxes. Challenging course, unfortunately the course is not maintained.
Keys Gate - What Greens?
Had a warning from the pro in the shop that the first 3 greens were not in good shape. In fact they were hardly distinguishable from the rough, except had many bare patches. Most of the other greens also had bare patches and to say they were preparing for a competition the next day they were not in very good shape, most were also very small and all were in need of water and aeriation. Fairways were not too bad. Only lost a couple of balls in the ponds around the course from my bad shots but also lost a couple in the short rough even though both the guy I was paired with and myself spotted the area where my ball had landed. We also found ourselves behind a group of 7 players one of whom was walking. Not once did the loan ranger out on the course ask them to split up. Luckily ? My playing partner spent a lot of time looking for his ball (Don't think he had a handicap) so we only had to wait on a couple of the tee boxes.
Good Value
The fairways on the front nine are passable The greens however do need a lot of work many have a lot of grass missing thus bare spots. The staff are great and as I did not pay a huge green fee ansd as such I felt I got good value. I played the back nine earlier this year and felt it was in better shape.
Good course
As a new golfer, I've played a couple of courses and was really pleased with this one, the greens are a little small but the shape of the course makes it really challenging and fun to play. The staff is great as well, overall will definitely play here again.
