Good golf course
Unfortunately the courses is in rough shape.
The back nine is much better.
Tees and Greens good, fairways need work.
Good layout.😮💨
Course condition is poo
New owners have not improved the condition of the course.
I really want to like the course, but I can't. Sorry.
I really, really want to like this course, but I can't. I play it, but I don't love it.
I do enjoy playing at Citrus National because it's fairly close by and convenient to get to. As one who enjoys the game of golf, I want to play at courses that have pride in what they do and who try to add value to the game. CN has potential...it really does. But right now the course is hurting, it needs a lot of love and attention. I'm sure the owners are trying to provide a good product, but here is what I'm seeing.....the tee boxes are more sand than grass. The fairways are in trouble and need more grass to go with the sand, The greens have improved in my opinion, but still are not up to the standards that customers expect. Currently, CN is one of the more expensive courses in this region Hernando & Citrus counties, but it is not a good value for the price right now. The $50 price is not a good value for this course. On a side note, I was very taken a back when I overheard CN "members" talking bad about GolfNow and the "despicable hackers"s" that it brings to the course. Well, it's the paying GolfNow customers that are providing additional revenue to help keep this course open. They were hanging out in their fancy private golf cart talking with people who were in the pool lanai house on the 7th fairway bunkers (3rd or 4th house from the green). Very rude snooty entitled "members" found at this course! Quite different that the courteous, friendly staff who work in the clubhouse and at the course.
Great track
This is an amazing course. It needs tons of work. The greens are like playing PLINKO, the fairways lack grass and the tee boxes need help also. I love the layout and the staff but this course needs to be closed and given time to recover.
Course needs love
New owners were supposed to redo the course and make it brand new, and it's been almost two years and all that's happened is the prices jumped. Course is 80% sand and 20% dead grass. Our cart died on us on hole 11 and had to call pro shop to come get us. They do give you free range balls to start, but the range is also straight sand.
Very Slow Round
The pace of the group in front of us was excruciatingly slow (3 1/2 hrs. for 9 holes). Thankfully they quit after nine holed. We did play the last 9 in 2 3/4 hrs for 4 golfers. The course could use a ranger.
Fairways and some t areas need improvement. I would also suggest small painted stakes on the side of the fairways to indentify 100 yr mark as the markers in the ground are extremely hard to see.
Love this course and it went downhill last summer. The greens are fine but fairways need more work. Whatever they did on #14 they need to do on the other fairways.
Super dry conditions
I like the course layout and the greens were OK but the fairways are in very poor condition.
There were very few spots where you landed on any decent grass. I hope they can bringing the fairways back as it could be a dry good course.
Great course....Great Staff
This is not my first time playing at this course and it will not be my last time playing this course. I believe the course has certainly transformed into a course that is enjoyable to play and worth driving to. I really like what the owner, Scott, has been doing to make this course something to be proud of. He has hired a great staff who treat people with kindness and respect. I must tell you there are many courses within an hour of where I live, but this is the course I prefer I prefer to drive to and play. Scott, please thank Nick and tell him he is doing a great job. George
Fairways need work
The tee boxes were in good shape and the greens were in great shape. But the fairways were for the most part were very sparse and few times were just plain dirt/sand.
whatt happened ?
I played this course years ago when it was called Southern Woods. Hale Irwin designed it and its a good championship layout....But the place is unplayable if you are like me and play the ball as it lies. Horrible conditions. Horrible dirt lies in the fairway. If you are a fluffer, maybe its OK. The guys I played with fluffed every lie.
