WOW
Ive played this course many times and the Oaks Course and by far this is the best condition that I have seen the Cypress course in. From the moment you step into the first tee box you can see how great of shape the course is in. Cypress is definitely the harder of the two courses where it requires you to have precise shots. Overall the course is in great condition!
Very nice course, not walkable
The course was generally in good shape, there were some greens with some bay spots. Layout is very nice. Crazy distances between holes but at least the Cypress course is pretty well marked so you don't get lost (not so much on the Oaks course). Hitting balls into the lake is unique for a driving range. The clubhouse bar was a joke though. 7 or 8 people working at an uncrowded bar, took 10 minutes for someone to finally acknowledge me for drinks. Ordered 2 simple draft beers and I see the girl wandering around for about 5 minutes, when I ask what's up she indicates she can't find glasses?!? In a bar?!? I was completely frustrated at that point and walked out. If you need a drink after the round I guess you have to bring your own.
Great, challenging course.
Great course. Challenging with a lot of water….and some crocodiles! Pace was pretty slow though and there was no Marshall on the course to try and rectify the issue. Great value for the cost though. Would definitely play this course again.
Greens in peak condition
Tried a different course this week. Stonegate Cypress. We bounce around Orlando area courses. Was worth the drive best greens in the area. Will come back. Dinner after round was pretty good also.
Nice course and community
We had a nice round and finished in 4 hours despite a full course.
Great value
Course is in very good condition & well worth the $40 green fee for 2:04 tee time. We were able to finish.....only problem was hitting into the direct sunlight on hole 18. Otherwise it was a great day.
Two Rounds at Stonegate, Two Very Different Experiences
Played the Oaks course last week, had a great time, staff pleasant, course in great condition. Played Cyprus today and everything from the staff interaction, to the course was almost 180° different. Right from the interaction at the cart shack, to the condition of the course, definitely not of the highest quality. A good number of the fairways had a considerable amount of bare spots, and a number of the greens had large sandy patches. May consider playing the Oaks again, but will leave the Cyprus off my playlist. Overall, 2.5 out of 5.
Wet and slightly wild
Played this course about six times last winter, first time this season. Doesn’t drain well. Plenty of chewed up fairways from carts. Very little grass on fairways. Greens were nice with the usual Florida sand spots. This course was in much better shape last year. Hope the Oaks course is in better condition. Would easily rate this 4 stars but fairways are pretty sparse!
Cool golf in Florida
Very nice greens and challenging tee shots. The fairways were fairly soft after the rains and had quite a few worm casts but the course was in good condition. Great pace of play due to lack of golfers braving the cold temperature.
Great course
It was a little soaked from the rain but fairways were good. Tee boxes were in good shape also.
Empty promises
I live in the development, so I had high hopes that changing the head greenskeeper would help. It has not. The greens are mostly awful, some have huge sand pits in them that you might have to putt out of or through !!! Inexcusable. Sand traps are washed out, poorly contoured, with no defined boundaries and sometimes huge pits. Terrible and easily fixable !!! Bare patches in the fairways, unrepaired divots, no defined cut between the fairway and the rough, and weeds growing on many greens are just disgraceful. I’ve seen better course conditions at a $15 walking muni The hundred dead fish floating on the pond on 8 and the dozens of vultures feasting on them was only surpassed by the horrendous dead fish smell.
