Empty Promises
I live in the development, and I’ve played this course dozens of times over the years. They changed head greenskeeper (brought in someone from Disney) last year and said conditions would improve. It hasn’t happened. Almost every bunker is in terrible shape…. no defined boundaries, sand washed down to the bottom, major washouts near the rim of almost every one, etc. One of my tee shots (on 16) ended up in a washout hole almost a foot below the top edge of the bunker…. if the bunker was contoured properly it would have either ran through the bunker and ended up outside it or rolled down to the bottom. Instead I was left with an unfair and impossible lie. Some greens had huge sand pits right in the middle of them !!!! Photo attached. Inexcusable. One should NEVER have to putt through sand patches. EVER. This is a LONG TERM problem, not related to weather, disease, sudden storms or anything else. Either they don’t have the personnel, or the money, or they don’t care, but regardless of the reason this is terrible. I’ve seen better at $15 a round walking muni courses. The grass is cut so short on the fairways it’s almost dirt, and in some places the grass has washed away as a result leaving dirt. There’s little definition between the fairways and the rough. This is such a wonderful layout and it’s a shame what they’ve let it degrade into. The worst was hole 8. Something happened in the pond and there’s a hundred or more dead fish floating on top and dozens of vultures feasting on the shore. The smell is terrible. YUCK
Wonderful
The young lady who checked us in was delightful. She said she was from Porta Rico and she made us laugh. Give her a raise.
What a wonderful day except for:
85% of the homes and the complex itself have swimming pools but, did we see any bikini clad young ladies? No! I think you should do something about that. As old men we don't have that many rounds left in us and off-course amenities are important. Thank you. Keep up the good work.
Definitely recommend
Superb course and facilities, from the minute we dropped bags off to completing a lovely meal in their clubhouse. Course was in superb condition, great value for money. Great layout with lovely doglegs and lakes always in play. Will definitely play again on our next visit.
It was a great day
Couldn't believe how far it was to get there but once there it was worth it. Teed off at 12 and there were no other players on the course. Course was in great condition considering the greens had been punched 2-3 weeks ago. Maybe half,of the holes are in the woods with no homes around them. Good bar food restaurant with good service. People in the pro shop were super. Played the Cypress Course-
Superb
On a golf holiday from scotland, olaying 11 rounds in 14 days, one of the best courses i have played, stunning facilities, staff were superb, great course, would recommend everyone to play this course and enjoy the area, go early get range balls, then after go for a beer/coffee and just ejnjoy it ☆☆☆☆☆
Great Course
This was our first time playing here and we loved it! We will be back again!
Just after aeration
We played this course 5 days after aeration (the pro-shop told us all about it and offered for us to play the other course if we so wanted).
The course is wide open and for the most part quite easy. Most holes have significant dog legs so it would have helped to have played there before. A few holes were tricky and non-precise placement led to big trouble, I wish they had let the rough grow a little more to stop out-of-bounds balls! Fairways were excellent with nice fluffy rough. Tees were a bit rough and the greens as expected given the recent treatment.
It would be nice to have been told up front where to find the 18th tee (through a locked gate - key code on card).
Afternoon golf
We were able to get out on the course a little earlier than our scheduled T Time. The staff was very friendly and professional. The course was in great shape and we were able play at a great pace. Had a great day.
Thanks to the staff at Stone Gate
Fun Course
This is a fun course. The fairways are in good condition. The greens are in very good shape, particularly in comparison to many others in central Florida right now. Some blind shots for first time players and some fairways are a little narrow, but fair. The staff is very friendly. Great pace of play.
Great Staff
Played Cypress for the first time after playing Oaks course five times. More water in play than Oaks-several doglegs that are tough to figure out on first trip. Had super slow foursome on front. Called Pro Shop and they sent someone out to speed them up.. Excellent staff at bag drop, particularly Ray and Rhonda. Michael in the pro shop was also very helpful. Stonegate courses are the best twilight bargain in the greater Orlando area!
