Water Oaks
This is a challenging but very nice course, with lots of water hazards and fast greens.we thoroughly enjoyed our round, and we will definitely return.
Maintaining good conditions
Quite a few area courses are experiencing conditions ranging from fair to just plain terrible. Give Water Oak credit for keeping the fairways playable and the greens and traps in excellent condition. The super smooth, quick greens are impressive. The approach fairway on #15 needs work, and has been in subpar shape for a while. Likely due to plenty of leaves and tall trees to block the sun. Went out as soon as a rainstorm cleared, and played extremely fast. Not long, but a great layout in fine condition for mid-March.
Nice course
Course was in good shape for this time of year. Some bare spots but nothing horrible. Greens are nice and interesting holes. There is elevation which makes it nice. The only complaint I have is when checking in. They ask for a lot of information and is very time consuming. They need to improve on the checking in.
fun day
We got there about 40 minutes early and they sent us right out because someone was late. We had the choice to wait for our t-time but we went right out so we had a fast round until the 12th hole but we made good time after that. Save your score card and get a tap beer for what your score was. Could use some more grass on the fairways but it seems to be getting better.
A nice place to play golf
We enjoyed Water Oak so much our first trip there that we returned for a second round and brought our friends along to make a foursome. It's a fun course staffed with very nice people. The course is in good shape for this time of year and the price is definitely right. We enjoyed our round and will return.
The grass is greener
Wonderful to hit the ball off grass instead of sand and weeds.....
Great time...great staff.... will play often...
One thing was excellent!
The greens were great but nothing else impressed us. For the price we expected better overall course conditions. We won’t go back.
Good value golf
Great value alternative compared to The Villages. Excellent staff, decent conditions, reasonable pace of play. . Excellent staff and value at the restaurant after golf.
The course conditions were great. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The greens and next tee off box were very close. The customers that were residents, most were not friendly to non resident customers. Saying snide comments to us. The other customers were friendly. I'm sorry to say I won't be going back because of the residents behavior to my friends and myself. My friends and I are avid golfers, we know the rules and followed them.
Best of luck.
Great course layout
My GPS was on the course before this new redo of Water Oak, so I didn’t have correct yardages however there are some yardages throughout the holes. Lots of blind shots but the course is in good shape and has lots of grass unlike most Florida courses this time of year.
Not going back
Definitely NOT a Top 25 course!
Layout extremely tight with tees crossing on a couple holes on the back - and one tee shot over a green just yards away.
Starter could not find the twosome I was to play with.
A group slid in between nines. The ranger said they were unaware, verified it, and did nothing about it.
Hills and Thrills
Course is holding up pretty well for the Winter months, with tees, greens and traps in good condition. Despite all the rain, the fairways are a bit thin and hard. The ball will roll forever, especially on the down hill holes. Expect to drive a couple of Par 4's with a well placed shot. Strategic placement is essential to be in the right position for your approach shot. Several holes are close together, and a few stray balls may be flying your way. Overall, an interesting place to play.
