Needs work
Played this course a few years ago and love the layout. Water in play on lots of holes. Course has declined significantly over the years. Fairways and tees are in sad shape. Greens are tough shape. Lots of bare spots. Wish they would revive this course because it's a great and challenging layout.
This course needs WORK
All areas need grass. The tee boxes were bad, the fairways had no consistent grass areas. Greens were bad.
Perfect for our level of play
Enjoyed our peaceful round since we seem to be the first to play that day. Beautiful course. Lots of challenges... well maintained
Wow
Some bunkers are half grass or at least filled with weeds. Some greens are legitimately just sand in some areas, same goes for fairways. I'm pretty confident in assuming they stopped caring for this course at least 5 years ago. Very sad, not even worth the $20 honestly....
Bring it back
I have played Magnolia Plantation many times
and have never seen the course in such bad shape. From tee to green nothing but dirt and
weeds, very sad!
With that said, the price was great the fact that
no one was on the course and it was Saturday
morning, was unbelievable. I was pleased overall
having the whole course for myself.
I'm not a bad golfer, mid handicap so the course
factor is not a issue from the trees off the tee.
I'd do it again for the fact i was out on a beautiful
day playing golf on a great layout, with plenty
of coin still in my pocket and no waiting.
Its a shame
I remember playing this course a while back and it was in great condition however the current status of the course is beyond spotty as the pro shop said. Hmm, I don't really have anything encouraging to say about my round other than it was quiet and there was a ton of wild life walking around. Fairways and greens are just terrible. I think it will take a huge investment to get it back to a decent course again.
This course has a challenging layout
This course has a lot of challenges to it.
Beautiful layout and lots of wildlife around. For playing in February the course was in fair condition. Diffinately worth it for the price. The greens were very fast.
Magnolia Plantation GC
Worse course that I have played. Course conditions are terrible. Golf course needs to be closed down and 100% redone.
Better
Course in better condition than in the past . Fairways are tough but mowed now. Still mostly weeds
Great challenging layout. Greens are improving but still a little rough. Great course for practice.
Are you seriously wasted a beautiful design course with a neglected maintenance!!!
Ok. I admitted to have some reservation about this course after reading many horrific review about this course. So I gave it a try with GolfNow hot deal 10.00 and I could not go wrong right!!!
First enter the golf pro shop and it was littally empty with few merchandises, that should be a flag! But I wasdetermine to hope it can't be bad! It was a horrendous condition and I decided to use this round as practice driving range! This course need to be remove from golf now list!!! It's a shame !!!
Make a decision MP
Great layout, worst conditions I have ever seen on a functioning golf course. Course conditions look like course had been closed for months. Need to either invest $ or shut down. Except a few holes in front the course is unplayable! Pay a few more bucks and play Mayfair or Casselberry for a value round.
beware
Friendly staff. That is the last good thing I'll say about this course. The potential is there to be as lovely as Alaqua Lakes but....this place sucks. The tee boxes and fairways were bare and/or ragged. The rough ...yes definitely rough. Sometimes knee high. Miss the fairway by 2 feet and you might as well drop another ball. The greens could have been mistaken for dirt patches with very little grass.
No bar open to drown my miserable outing!
I'd avoid this place until someone starts to maintain it.
Worst than ever
Wanted to try playing Magnolia one more time despite recent reviews. For one, comments are accurate so we were the only players out there on a Sunday and basically playing in weeds. After a few holes and basically hitting off of dirt we decided to play lift and place (if you can find some weeds) to allow some level of game Fairways were difficult to distinguish given conditions
It's sad but looks like closure of course is coming soon by such signs as apparel and accessories were gone from the racks of pro shop and poor pro couldn't say a lot of positive things about conditions outside of fairways and greens having been recently/mostly mowed until equipment broke down...oh well.
Course layout had always been challenging but when the ball from your drives would create a puff of dirt/sand and just stop you know your score is going to be in trouble.
All in all, if you're just looking for a driving range outing the course is fine to play.. just make sure you use your shag balls. We were paying for some small change in a skins game so it's was kind of exciting especially not knowing which way the greens were breaking and dealing with a variety of holes that were either larger (due to ruts that cracked due to dryness and tears) or smaller due to weeds growing over the holes. ...LOL
Have fun Caveat Emptor
Poor course conditions
Worst course conditions that I have ever played on. Fairways uncut, many weeds, weeds in all bunkers. Would not recommend to anyone.
Terrible condition
I have played this course at least 40 times in the past since it opened, going thru many different owners, but haven't played in a couple of years. Golfnow had a decent deal today so I went out with my son. Wow. We were the only ones on the course. I guess everyone knew what I didn't know, the course hasn't been maintained at all. There are no fairways as they are grown over and the weeds are at least 12 inches high thru the entire course. But the greens and the sand traps are completely unplayable. Every single sand trap is overgrown with weeds in them. Every green is unmowed and full of weeds, can't even putt. Do not waste your money. Go to a driving range instead.
Stay away!!
Course is in total disrepair - high grass, bumpy and shaggy greens, everything is falling apart. Not worth any price....
I moved to Lake Mary in 2008 and this golf course was a true golfers course.. not a grip it and rip it with wide open fairways.. You had to play the course and make shots! it was immaculate from tee to green and quite frankly one of the best courses I had ever played!
Sometime shortly thereafter... this course took a tremendous turn for the worst. The conditions are abysmal , have been for over 6.years and nobody seems to want to give a rip about investing to bring this course back!
Anyone who has played this course knows what it's capable of being!
Folks don't justify any kind of a good review of this course over a $20 greens fee and an empty course... it's empty for a reason! Most people won't even pay the $20-SAD!
When one of the preeminent teaching academy's in central florida is based at this facility and they can't come up with the funds to do the necessary work on this course... something else is going on.
