Top Course to Avoid
Past reviews don’t lie. Greens are in horrible conditions, dry and previously aerated is an overstatement. Just completely dead and patchy where your better off picking up. Slow play is also unreal. Playing Old 18 and it took over 4.5 hours skipping two holes and the foursome we caught up to quit after 14 holes. But hey one free beer after your round to make up for it…
Thank you for your feedback, we appreciate it. Over the past (5) weeks we have done a Curfew Application, Chipco Choice Application and Aerified all 29 greens. It is that time of year that these applications need to be done, but they impact golfers. The 15 inches of rain in June especially over the past 15 days has had an impact on the surfaces. We are starting to see positive results from the applications. We hope to see you back soon. Brock Witmyer (GM)

Jody, thank you for the feedback and we hope to see you back soon. Brock Witmyer (GM)
Terrible
It’s that time of year again. Place is in terrible condition. Greens are borderline unplayable. When will the City of Lakeland actually hold someone to some accountability out there. Such a gem and only worth playing about 4 months out of the year. Greens at Bramble Ridge are 5 Star compared to Cleveland Heights.
Hello,
Thank you for reviewing the course. We would like to apologize for your recent experience.
We're sorry to hear you were less than satisfied during your round. We pride ourselves on our providing great service and the high-quality standards we maintain.
We would like to make things right. Please reach out to our management team at the pro shop.
We hope to hear from you soon.
Thank you for the feedback, we appreciate it. Over the past (5) weeks we have done a Curfew Application (for Nematoads) and an aerification of all 29 greens. These practices are not popular and interrupt play, but the biggest issue we have faced is 15 inches of rain in the month of June. We hope to see you back soon. Brock Witmyer (GM)
Horrible course conditions
I played this course about a month ago. I’ve never seen greens on ANY course in worse shape. Dead grass everywhere, sand everywhere, aeration holes everywhere. Absolutely horrible. Basically once you hit up on the green unless you are within a few feet of the pin, give yourself a 2 put score and move onto the next hole. This course is owned and operated by the city of Lakeland. If the city doesn’t want to put any money or effort into the upkeep of the course, then they should sell the land. FYI city, you have to put some kind of effort & financial contributions into a golf course. I say sell the course if you just wanna leave it in the current condition. It’s really a shame because this course is a few minutes drive from my parents house. But I doubt I’ll ever play there again.
We apologize for the poor condition of the greens during your visit to our course. We appreciate your feedback and will take it into consideration as we strive to improve the upkeep and overall experience for our customers. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.
Greens were terrible
The overall course was good nothing special. The greens were the problem!!!! The greens were in terrible shape for $44.99! The rest of the course was an average course for here in mid Florida! Now granted that this is a City run course where I have played other courses that are owned by the city but managed outside that are way better!! One course I will put you up against is Willowbrook! City owned but outside managed and it is in great shape. Your fairways were good, got some bounce and roll out of the miss hit or two but I was expecting more as you have alot of high school and other tournaments there.
Thank you.
Thank you for your feedback, we appreciate it. We had done a Curfew Application during this time period that is disruptive to playing conditions. We hope to see you back in the near future. Brock Witmyer (GM).

Great staff, terrible course
The staff is great. The bar and restaurant is also fantastic. However, the condition of the golf course scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the best and one being the worst I give it a -5.
Thank you for the feedback, we appreciate it. Over the past couple weeks, we have done a Curfew Application to treat for Nematoads. This application puts slices in the turf and releases a gas. The application is a must here at CHGC. We hope to see you back soon. Brock Witmyer (GM)
25 yrs we’ve played here and it needs love.
I know this course will never be great but they just need better conditions. Too many greens are in rough shape. Tee boxes need love. Some fairways are descent , others aren’t. The greens need completely redone. They always have the range closed thur am for maintenance. This is the only course I’ve ever seen to close the range while open unless it needs to be closed for a period of time. Too many other courses in good shape to keep playing here. The layouts of the 9s isn’t very good so conditions need to improve. I guess it’s playable but just isn’t good enough to keep coming.
Hi. We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We understand your frustration with the construction projects underway. Please bear with us as we work diligently to make improvements. We hope you'll give us another try in the future.
Unfortunately, it is that time of year when the Winter overseed has transitioned out and the Bermuda grass starts to take off. Over the past (3) weeks we have done a Curfew Application on all three courses. This application slices the turf and shoots a gas into the turf to control nematoads that we battle here at CHGC. Next month we will be doing aerifications on all 3 courses. These maintenance practices are a must, but they impact play. Hope to see you back soon. Brock Witmyer (GM)
Greens and fairways are in fair condition. Lot of mowing and construction distractions the day we played (around 11:00am). Overall, still enjoyable and a nice municipal course!
Thank you for your feedback, we appreciate it. Over the past 2 weeks we have been doing a Curfew Application for Nematoads. This is an intense application that we must do annually at CHGC to control Neatoad counts. We hope to see you back soon. Brock Witmyer (GM)
Typical public course
With no homes on most of the course, nice wide fairways and enough challenges for the amateur golfer, this course has the potential to be very nice.
But, they've jammed 27 holes into a space large enough for only 18.
Unfortunately, it's over booked so the pace of play is slow.
Cleveland, like most Florida golf course are aerating their greens but many of these greens need a lot more work than just aeration.
We also wondered why they have 3 nine hole courses, rather than an 18 and a 9?
Ken, thank you for the feedback, we appreciate it. The original 18 holes goes back to 1925. In 1983 the B Course 9 holes was added to meet the supply and demand. CHGC is on the Florida Historic Golf Trail. Pace of play averages 4:15, which is good considering we did 87,000 rounds of golf last year. We hope to see you back soon. Brock Witmyer (GM)

Great day on the course!
Cart paths need some attention. Pace of play was good. Some fairways had rough patches and some no grass due to having no rain for awhile. Ate in restaurant and it was very good. Didn't like choice of beer that was free!!!!
Thank you for the positive feedback we appreciate it. We are glad that you had a good golf experience at CHGC and hope to see you back soon from Riverview. Brock Witmyer (GM)

Like playing in a park
Course is in good condition. Green are relatively fast and are consistent. Many greens have significant contours to test ones skills. Fairways are generally good and the green fringes and approaches are generally good. The areas just off the green are typical of Florida courses, not brilliant so get ready to chip off hard pan, sand or very sparse grass. The cart paths are in need of work but it did not spoil the round.. Free beer with every round in the very reasonable restaurant. Great balcony are to sit and watch the struggle of golfers on the A9 green.
Lots of wildlife to accompany your round, watch for gators, hawks, eagles and turtles.

Great course
Played Sunday, 04/16, with 12 of us doing Ryder cup style. Played all 3 nines. A little rain for about 20 mins. The Staff were on point in every way. They were terrific. The starter was great at herding cats. The course was in very good condition. Greens were good, a little slow, but not bad. Maybe we just suck at putting. The ladies in the bar were fast. Over all great time. Will be back.
Thank you for the positive feedback, we appreciate it. We are glad that you had an excellent golf experience at CHGC. We have a great team that works very well together. We hope to see you back soon. Brock Witmyer (GM)
