South Course at Big Cypress Golf & Country Club
About
Big Cypress Golf Club is part of a gated golf retirement community called Cypress Lakes. Conveniently located between Orlando and Tampa, the club offers two golf courses, the North and the South. The South Course is a championship layout that is more challenging than the executive-length North Course. Both courses are characterized by the abundance of water and swaying palms, offering the best of Florida golf. The South Course plays a long 6,680 yards from the back tees. The course presents a more demanding test than the North, appealing to more advanced players. Florida Golfer and Senior Golfer have recognized its challenging layout for its excellent conditions and design. Maintenance is a top priority at Big Cypress; on both courses the well manicured fairways and greens are consistently in good shape.

Nice course compared to other local ones
Great course for the price. That’s why I’ve went twice in the last 30 days. Tee boxes are alright by fairways and especially the greens are in nice condition. Greens are a good fast roll.
A variety of birds and also baby to large gators all around the South course.
I booked north course until I realized it’s half the yardage with over 10 par 3’s. Keep that in mind.
Clubhouse is nice and Philly flatbread is pretty good as well.
If the price remains this way for winter it would keep me coming back. It beats Huntington hills and other courses in Lakeland for the price.
Most of the south course is narrow and somewhat challenging depending what you compare to.
I’d recommend this course to avid golfers.
Remarkable
From start to finish everything was fantastic. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. The course was in great shape and the greens rolled as expected or seen. There are some holes where target golf is needed to help you stay away from trouble and get to the green.
The residents do t let you play through, at least not the ones that I ran into at about hole 14. They knew we were there but didn’t offer to let us through.
Overall this course was amazing. I highly recommend playing here
Great Day!
Enjoyed the course and layout. Course was in great shape including tees, fairways, and greens that rolled true. Ended up playing the round in @4.5 hrs which was the only downside. There was a little waiting on the first several holes, but then it became better as the round went on. Lots of wildlife and gators which added to the beauty of the course. The course is in a community but the houses were not right on top of the course and the fairawys were plenty wide so if your tee shots leaked a little you weren't overly punished. Definitely will play it again.
Great Small Course
What a great Executive Style course! Unlike most Executive courses, the maintenance staff here maintain the course conditions equal to the Championship Course; well done.
My only negative comment is being told that the Course Rules do not allow people to walk the course. I did not find this out until #14 when the Ranger, great guy from Buffalo, NY, was sent out to investigate someone pushing a baby carriage around the course. Apparently some local residents mistook my pushcart for a baby carriage..OMG Peolple!! After the round, the Ranger explained that the local course rules do not allow walkers and that they would confirm this with the GM on Monday for when we cone back....
Pick the Right Tee Markers
Excellent course and very well maintained. Took 4:15 to play and the guys in front of us played from the tips and spent every hole in the woods looking for balls, yes even the Par 3s...Gentlemen, if you cannot hit at least 200yds off tee and consistently in play, move up a tee box or 2, you'll enjoy the round more...
Every hole a fair challenge
Had a great Friday afternoon on this course. Staff were very friendly, the course in good shape, especially the greens and every hole presented a different challenge.... thoroughly enjoyed it.
