Atlantic National Golf Club
About
Formerly known as Grand Lacuna Golf Club, this par-71 championship course now goes by the name Atlantic National Golf Club. Designed in the late 1980s by Joe Lee, the course was designated one of the 50 best public courses in Florida. The challenging layout has plenty of variety that will require all different types of shots. Golfers will find that they need to use every club in their bag. Water hazards come into play on several holes but the strategically placed bunkers that lurk along the greensides and fairways are particularly tricky. There are some tough holes but it is an accommodating layout for all skill levels, especially since it has four diverse sets of tees. In addition to the golf course, Atlantic National offers a grass driving range, two putting greens, and a chipping area with a practice bunker.

A great afternoon at a fun course Photo submitted by kengeniusz on 02/23/2013
Beware the geezer rangers
Course was in pretty great shape. Played an early tee time. Pretty empty. Came across a ranger who was insufferable. This older gentleman parked by our carts on about the fifth hole for a few minutes. We hit our shots and went back to the cart at which time he held us up and asked us for our cart numbers, which I presumed was standard procedure. We politely gave him our cart numbers and names, a few times mind you because he seems to be hard of hearing. Someone from the twosome we were paired with pointed out that he could have just taken down our cart numbers from the cart itself without us being involved but I digress. The next hole he comes back again and says we’re behind pace. Keep in mind, we just wasted nearly five minutes talking to him on the last hole and when we asked him how far behind pace he couldn’t tell us and just said we need to pick it up, despite the group behind us being about two shots back at least and playing army golf all over the fairway. Then this guy decides to stand next to the green to watch us while we putt and then follow us on every shot for the rest of the front nine. The rest of my foursome was losing their minds with this guy and my playing partner called the pro shop to complain, only to be scolded about being “three minutes behind pace”. I’m all for giving older folks opportunities but to have an octogenarian who is hard of hearing and clearly not working efficiently running your front nine pace is asinine. Course is otherwise in excellent condition and is a great layout.
I great day at Atlantic National
I've played this course several times in the past. The conditions on the course were great. The greens rolled true. The fairways where consistent without bare spots. The rough was penalizing as it should be. The club house guys are always friendly and accommodating.
Play when the course is dry!
A very nice course with greens in good shape and acceptable speed. The course was very wet, although only 3 holes were cart-path only. The rough was purposely long to add more challenges for playing. It's impossible to find your ball in the lengthy rough and a wet course. You will have much more fun playing the course when the weather is good.
Atlantic National GC
The course is very well maintained, the staff should be commended!!
Fun Course
Think it's a fun challenging course and is in excellent shape
Played a week ago and the course was in great shape. This week dead grass and dirt on most of the tee boxes and fairways. Greens excellent and excellent pace of play.
Enjoyable round at Atlantic National
The course was in great condition. The staff was friendly and helpful. I really enjoy the layout of this course. There are several risk/reward tee shots on the course. It's a test because the risk/reward tee shots are over water. You can take it over as much water as you want to shorten your approach shot. The risk is if you come up short your ball is in the water. I appreciate holes like that because it forces you to have a strategy.
Always a treat
A little disappointed this time out on a blazing hot afternoon. While the course wasn’t that busy, I had a 3p tee time and the twosomes in front of me are hunting for lost balls and hitting multiple balls as well. What should be a 3-3.5 hour round is still 4 hours…no excuse! A roving ranger can speed them up. I had to get off the course as it’s just way too hot out there and no water left on the course. I also fix 3-4 ball marks on all greens at that hour. Pls have a ranger increase pace of play or fill the water jugs.
A great golf experience
This course is always very well maintained. The layout is challenging and fun for players of all skill levels. Based on the reasonable greens fees I thought it would've been busier. Playing as a threesome we waited on a few holes but still played in just over four hours. I highly recommend this golf course!
