Nice course. Terrible pace of play. Fivesomes are accepted.
Great course
It’s a great course, and wow, we had plenty of time to enjoy it, thanks to one group in front of us and no ranger on the course.
Bang for your Buck
Found the round available through Golf Now for around $40 all-in. Included cart fee’s, range balls, and green fee’s.
Before I tee’d off, it rained for twenty straight minutes. At no point during the round was I worried that the course was too wet. I joined up with a gentleman named Gary who was local to the area and had knowledge of the golf course.
It was a very flat. It’s an “easy on the eye” type of track. Not super long, but yet still required the player to play to the course. I shot my best round of the year there, most likely due to the forgiving nature of the course. You’re rewarded for good shots and your life is not taken for your bad ones. Slow greens, yet firm. I would assume they speed up as the weather warms up. Regardless, I enjoyed the fact that you could attack for birdies and the worry of blowing your putt past the whole was non-existent. I thoroughly enjoyed the day I had up there. It’s a diamond in the rough compared to a lot of the golf in the Destin area. I CANNOT wait to get back there.
Rocky Bayou Review
Nice layout and conditions were good for this time of year.
Enjoyable
Enjoyed my round. Love that there is a variety of tee boxes. As a female that don’t drive the ball far, I appreciate well planned out tee boxes for we ladies who love the game of golf but don’t have big drives. Will be bringing friends back.
Loved it!
I truly enjoyed my round. It wasn’t over challenging and from the woman’s tees it was an attainable decent score round. I found that the course was in great shape except for one hole in which the green was in the fairway which I believe was because of repairs. We met a wonderful couple who were paired up with us and had a really fun time! The cart gal was kind and attentive. I felt the cost was great in comparison to the many other courses in the area. I am from MI but hope to come back before our trip is complete.
Great time
Course really fun to play great shape for the time of the year.
Worth playing
Old Florida style course. Plenty of big trees. Nice layout and In good condition for winter. Some sandy spots on a few greens and #16 has a temporary green. Played in four hours. Didn't care for the burn pit that smoked up the course on the first 3-4 holes. Not cool. Otherwise, it was a good day.
Good Round
The course is in good condition, I would give that part 5 stars, but the golf shop failed to inform us of 1 temporary green. Of course I would have played to it, instead of the regular green. Otherwise the Black tees (tips) do not get played much so they were in good shape. Pretty much all but 1 green was in great shape, decent speed. Fairways and tees were overseeded so they were good. Busy day so pace was slow, but we were a 2 some so there is that. I shot a 76 from the tips. Not a long course, but it gets its length from the longer par 3's.
On Your Own
No assistance at the Bag drop. Clubhouse is only a 25 yard walk. When I checked in, I was told I needed to share a cart with a fellow. At that time I questioned that statement since we would be using different T boxes. I was told I would be playing with another single who had not checked in and a couple who had already checked in. I as at the course 45 minutes early and was told T Times were on schedule. I practiced at the driving range area and putting green. While at the putting green I met the single. guy. He had a cart of his own. Apparently, the clubhouse listened better to a male than a female explaining the logic of pace of play and usage of different Tee boxes. The couple paired with us never appeared at the T area, even though we teed off 30 minutes later than our T Time. There was no official starter. The two of us were behind a 4 some which consisted of 3 walkers and 1 person using a cart. They were behind 3 people in carts. Carts can be taken to the parking lot before and after a round.
Rocky
Greens were fast, and one green had damage. Overall an excellent course in great shape for this time of year.
