Best conditions
I have played this course over the last 25 years and I can not remember the course conditions being any better. I was amazed at the quality of the greens. I have never seen them in this good of condition. They were full, smooth, and easy to read. Speed was probably around a 7 or 8, not quite as fast as other greens I play on in Navarre, but was very pleased by the quality. The fairways were also in great shape. The elevation changes and dog legs makes the Eagle course very challenging. I will be returning very soon!
Very long
We actually played the Falcon course while on vacation . We didn't have a clue. Every hole seemed very long and with the peaks and valleys plus the wind made club selection very challaging. If I ever have the chance to play this course again I would use at least 2 more clubs than I would on my home course. I would move from the gold tees to a shorter tee box as well. This course is designed for long hitters. I believe I could lower my score by 10 strokes if I play it again. It ate our lunch so I do want to go back some day to challange the Falcon again. A very good/bad memory that I won't soon forget. Greens were burmuda and very nice. Fairway grass was only poor to fair with lots of places to lose the ball if you hook or slice.
Nice layout, greens not very good
I have played this course for several years when I visit Destin. Unfortunately the course and the management are not getting any better. The course was not in good shape and the greens had lots of crab grass and even though it was only $30.00 to play, I will no longer go back there.
More importantly you do not get a guaranteed tee time when you book this course. I was told by the desk there that you will get out within 30 minutes of your time. So just remember this.
I would pass on this course from now on
RAINED OUT
Did not play due to weather conditions, course close.
Bad Green condition
Greens were awful. The rest of the course was fine.
Love the Course, Hate the Clubhouse
You'll love the course! Hilly, a fair bit of water, decent greens which are coming back nicely. ProShop course staff are friendly too. Major negative: restaurant/snack bar - they went to a contractor and the quality of the food is about a 'c', they have too few people working there, the drinks are no longer a good buy. We now go to a local 19th hole for after golf re-caps and food. What a shame for an otherwise great golf day.
Don't let the smooth taste fool you..
Enjoy Hole number 1 on the Falcon. It's a great warm up hole! Short Par 4.. After that, it's all up and down hill from there! Very challenging but playable course! Enjoyed it. Awesome value! If you don't want to drop the big buck and still have a great round with the guys, it's worth the drive. Book an early morning tee time and finish in time to grab lunch before an afternoon in the sun on the Coast.
Beautiful Course
Beautiful day to play. Greens were being worked on, but another week they should be excellent. Had a great time for a beginner.
Fun course
Fun to play this course... has elevation unlike the other courses in the area. Well worth the money.... oh, and I beat Jerry so there's that.
Great value
We had a great time!!! Really fun course was nice , staff was nice.
Need a new course manager
The greens aren't. The greens on both the Pines and the Oaks courses are the worse I have ever seen. They have been steadily getting worse for the last 4 years. Very little grass, with large black areas where grass won't grow. First they said it was Nematodes and it would be better next month, but it just keeps getting worse. They need to get professional help and completely rebuild the greens (and get a new greens keeper)
Great Course!
Enjoyed the hills and general layout (not flat). Great value. Would definitely play it again.
Eglin Air Force Golf Course
Very good value and friendly staff
Great layout
Over seeded greens only, not like the old days when the fairways & tee boxes were done. Still a good place to play. Got out early but pace of play was slow.
great layout and view
quite challenging course and you have to place your ball in play all the time.fortunately met someone who played the course before and was told where to place the ball all the time & limited to one lost ball for the 18holes.
Challenging course
Had a great time, played with a gentleman who was playing a practice round before a weekend tournament. The course was in pretty good shape for this time of year, a good price thru GolfNow. Thanks.
Eglin - Falcon - basic but ncie
It's early January, and we've had lots of rain, so the overseeded greens were soft, but the fairways were still very firm. A nice course and an interesting layout, it would probably be easier the second time though.
This course is very hilly
Counter staff were gruf , starter let later group go before us . Greens are fast and contoured with slight movement around holes. Some blind shots , very challenging
Course is in excellent condition.
Greens are in great condition and course is well maintained.
This review is for the Fort Walton Pines and Oaks not the Falcon
