Silver Dollar Golf & Trap Club - Panther/Bobcat Course
About
There are three nines at the Silver Dollar Golf & Trap Club, which can be played individually, consecutively, or as three different 18-hole combinations. Each nine has a unique layout with different challenges but all share the same lush landscape covered with stately trees and water features. The Panther/Bobcat combination offers a mix of narrow and wide fairways, some of which are lined with trees. A few strategically placed bunkers come into play along the greensides and there are also water hazards coming into play on a number of holes. Located just northwest of Tampa along the west Florida coast, the nines represent the best of Florida golf. Silver Dollar also boasts some of the area's most affordable rates, which makes the versatile layouts doubly appealing.

We can then all over the course Photo submitted by Gilbert3585586 on 05/27/2013
Mowers in fairways. Rough conditions, slow pace
Played here twice this year. In the spring the greens were cratered and largely unplayable. Gave it another chance yesterday, but not planning to go back. Started off being notified that one of the nine hole courses was closed, and they started us behind some sort of large group of locals doing a shotgun start at 8am. Course conditions were pretty rough and by the second hole we had landscape crews mowing on our fairways in the middle of active play. The mowers were going all around the greens and even the tee boxes on a Saturday morning. We even had one stop twenty yards directly in front of us and try to tell us to hit over them. Mowers basically ruined half of the front 9. The greens were in better shape, but still not great, and the fairways were unkept with tons of divots and bare spots. Ran into more mowing crews on the back nine and they were mowing circles around our tee box while we were teeing off. By the back nine, we caught up to the large groups of locals and pace of play was painfully slow. Seems like they mostly cater to locals or residents, and several holes had 5-6 players grouped up. We gave up after 12 holes due to the ongoing mowers in play and the lack of progress on pace. The course layout is also tough to follow, and they have several blind shots but there are footgolf flags set up all over the course. Snack bar is also kinda slow, and also seems to cater to residents instead of golfers. In short, don't plan to go back. It's a cheap tee time, but there are way better courses in the area for affordable golf with better conditions.
Decent course but greens were not in good condition
Fun layout of course. Greens bounced like a cart path and did not have good grass. One hole had temporary green. Would play again but hope they improve greens
Course needs work
Me and two friends of mine played Silver Dollar 9/24/23. The course is in abd shape. Fairways need more water the green are hit or miss. Some are fine and some were just really bad. SIlver Dollar is a discount course so I never expect alot when I play there but it has gotten worse when it should be getting better. I would recomend spending a 10-15 dollars more and playing anohter course. Just doesnt make for a fun golf day.
Wait Til This Course is in Better Shape!
I've golfed here many times. It's never been in the greatest shape, however, i see that they are trying to improve it. My issue with this is that they should wait to impose higher green fees UNTIL the course is in good enough condition to charge these amounts!
Very Disappointing
I read the reviews for Silver Dollar and though they were mixed we decided to give the course a try. We played on a Monday and we fully understand most courses are pretty rough from a weekend of hard play. The fairways and roughs neede to be cut but they were pretty wet and it was a holiday Monday. The part that was disappointing was the overall care fore the course. The teeboxes were invery poor condition with bare spots on most of the tees. The fairways were not much better. With are spots throughout. Finally, the greens were in very poor shape. Any putt made over five feet was pure luck. For some unknown reason the maintenance crew decided to move the pins two feet from the previous spot which contributed to worn and bumpy greens. Unfortunately, if the conditions don't improve this course will close in the next few years due to a lack of play.
Solid experience
Course has an interesting layout. It was in good but not great shape. Pace was good and price was right. Will return.
Hidden gem of a place
Really enjoyed the panther course , it was the only one open due to heavy rains but I’ll be back soon to try the others.
I have played there before, the course is in very good shape. they have done a lot of work to improve it.
Nice layout, great value!
Being a long time resident of Florida, I realize that July is not the easiest time to care for a course. Temporary greens on one and two for repairs to the originals were the only true negative during my round. Course plays very well with some strategic hazards, but open for the most part. The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Will definitely be back again and again in the near future.
Course management and conditions
Course itself is in terrible condition. Several greens are just dirt. Others have so much weed could not put. Staff don’t seem to know what to do when checking in to play and ion course marshal seems to be very prejudiced against non white cultural players, observed pacing other cultural players. Do not recommend this course, and will NEVER play this course again.
7/2/2023
When we arrived we were informed 9 holes had been shut down. Arrive at the first green we found it to be brown due to herbicide. The 3 additional greens were the same way. The greens that were not brown were full of holes and areas with no grass. The fairway were sparse as well in many places. We have a weekly outing Sunday morning. This course will not be in the rotation again. I believe the course should be flagged on Golf Now it was that bad!
Nice place to play
Great value for the money. Not the greatest condition course, with very bad tee boxes but good greens.
Round took 4 hours and 40 minutes. Ugh
Silver Dollar
Generally in ok shape. Some T boxes were sparce and a couple of fairways in need of more grass. Pace was slow. We like the layout and always play a round here.
