Please go elsewhere
Tee boxes were terrible. Fairways were terrible. Greens, if you want to call them that, were unplayable. Pace of play was great since I assume people do not want to play there. I would suggest going elsewhere to play if you want an enjoyable round.
Spend a little more
Tee boxes were awful, greens were worse. It was worth the $36 but not a nickel more.
Nice views and greens
Awesome views and pretty quality greens, the fair ways are a little rough. Over all for the money a nice fun course
Not so bad as other reviews
Best price in the area. While the tee boxes and some areas of the fairways weren't in great condition, the greens putted nice and 90% of the fairways were fine. Enjoyed the layout. Typical house lined fairways. Would not say it was too tight.
Great greens
Tee boxes and fairways were a bit rough. However the green were in great condition. Minimal snack bar due to temporary cafe closure. Friendly staff ice maker on ground floor but drinks upstairs.
Needs work
Typical Floida Beach course, sand everywhere, and turf needs some TLC. 2nd cut is sand.
This course needs work
I started playing at this course about a year ago…. Junior rate made it 9$ to play. As a beginner it was great not having to spend 50$ a round. HOWEVER this was quickly turned when they started charging 50$ to play the course….. Tee boxes are abused, fairways are almost always muddy/overgrown. Don’t get me started on the greens…… greens are quite literally sand… If they lowered costs by about 20-30$ it may be worth it. But with Fort Walton Oaks/Pines and Rocky Bayou near by not costing a lot more with hot deals it simply isn’t worth it.
AWFUL! Will be shocked if this course is still open next year.
Absolutely the worst course conditions that I have ever played in my 30 years golfing. I used to play this course often when I lived close and loved it. Now the tee boxes are complete garbage and the greens and fairways aren't much better. The length of the grass on the greens show that they have given up. They closed another one of the 9 holes and in doing so, they somehow only had 17 holes left. To fix that they split a par 5 into a par 4 and par 3. The green for that par 4 is a complete joke! The also got rid of the driving range. I don't normally leave reviews this harsh, but I had to let ya'll know. I can't believe that I paid over $40 per person to play this course under these conditions. Sadly, I'll never play there again and I suggest you avoid it also. You can thank me later.
Solid 3/5 star course
This course has some extremely stunning views which offset the slightly diminished course quality from unkempt fairways, deteriorating tee boxes, and incredibly narrow course. Houses line both sides of the fairway so tightly to ensure that any mis-hit ball becomes a backyard donation to the locals. Some of the fairways really need to be repaired. Dead spots, piles of sand, and layers of pines create a worse setup of land mines than when me and my buddies fought in Nam. Overall I think it’s a pleasant course. We got a hot deal for $50 which I think is slightly overpriced for the quality of the course. You’re mainly paying for scenery.
Good Course
Course needs a little attention, overall the views were great and layout was fun!
Pleasantly Surprised
We played here 2 years ago and thought it was on its last leg, having pared down from 27 holes to 18 and needing a lot of TLC.
The reason we played this time - my wife decided in the morning that we should play and this was one of the few courses in the area that had a tee time at a decent price.
Our expectations were mildly exceeded when the course marshall drove a new cart to my wife while I checked in. The staff made us feel welcomed and took extra time to explain the layout and the signage.
Agreeing with other reviewers that this place still needs TLC (especially the Bay 9 fairways and greens), someone has recently put a lot of effort into making sure players know how to get around the courses, not easy if left on your own.
Overall we were pleasantly surprised by the improvements and the condition of the courses and will look to play here again.
Poor Course Maintenance
I moved to the area two years ago and have been trying to play all the local courses, private and public. Besides the Golf Garden of Destin (now closed), this is one of the worst local courses I have played.
Currently, the homeowners association is in talks to sell off the course to a developer. The driving range has already been sold and currently being developed.
The course itself was brutal to play. All the tee boxes had serious damage. Sandy and very little grass if any on certain tees. The greens were hammered with dry sandy spots, dead grass. Most of the fairways were in decent shape but overall the course is a 2.5/10 maybe. You'll have to play for yourself to understand the significant damage out there.
DO NOT WALK. It's about a 2 minutes drive by cart to the Bay Hole 1, and a 3 minute drive to Marsh Hole 1. Significant driving between holes.
They are better off selling the land. They are trying to raise 2.48 million to keep the course open and realistically need about 5 million to make significant improvements to the course to justify it staying open.
Help
Great, friendly staff that was super helpful. The course however needs some help; the layout has you away from the clubhouse the mine you leave the putting practice area. No water on the course for you to drink, and the tee boxes and greens need a little love.
