Fun course
Good challenge all around with ponds and lagoons and carries over marsh. ,
Fairways were decent, greens rolled true, but bunkers needed maintenance. Granted heavy rains 48 hrs early, and a nearby tornado likely created challenges for crew.
The pace of play was excellent, 3 hrs 15 minutes for 18 holes with a noon teetime.
Excellent value for the money.
Soggy conditions
Per the gentleman in the pro shop, the course had 4.5" of rain the evening before due to severe passing storms. Confirmed tornado a few miles from course the evening before. It was cart path only and the driving range was closed. Almost every bunker was flooded. There were puddles in some of the fairways - almost every tee shot plugged. Stopped playing after 9 holes due to a severe thunder storm. Pro shop gave a 2-ball 9 hole credit, thankfully. Honestly, the course should NOT have been open for play. Definitely would play again depending on the number of dry, sunny days prior.
Enjoyable course!
Not laid-out for bombers..requires some accuracy and course management. I used every club in my bag..(including my ball retriever)
Challenging little course!
Friendly staff. Carts basic and no gps. Course is tight and was in decent shape. Range balls were in horrible condition. For most part greens were nice, 1 or2 had some bare spots. Pretty good value.
Decent course, but beware
First time playing the course, a bit tight and targety. If you can hit it reasonably straight, it has some interesting features, but if you're a 20+ Handicapper, I'd recommend that you look elsewhere. Conditions OK for the fees charged, but there's quite a few places where 'Ground Under Repair' applies. Greens have some issues, but staff seems to have placed pins to take the worst of the issues out of play. Will I go back? No, and I play to a 14.
Greens need work as do the fairways
Tight course. .Fairway lacked grass. Greens were in bad shape. Challenging layout. The restaurant wasn’t open. The only positive was it was cheap on golf now.
Friendly and challenging course
We saw a beautiful alligator, watching our fantastic play...
Looking Better👍
Have played here many times over the last 10 years ( seasonal visitor). The course was in the best shape I’ve seen it in a while. Most greens in decent shape. Fairways good. Traps well maintained ( I should know!). Have always liked the layout and the scenery is very nice.
Would highly recommend first timers and maybe those who were disappointed in the past.
Wintrt golf
Very tight course. Lots of water. Plan on losing at least a sleeve. Starting to dry/burn. Greens overall in good shape. Fairways and tees are spotty. Ggod value with. Hotdeal.
Bad day at golf is better than a bad day of fishing.
Soo many people at this place!! I thought it was a shotgun. And it was a weekday. Pace was alright but stacked up like sardines. I get it you should be on the fairway when someone is on the green. Stacked! Not a place to enjoy a drink or your time or your game. Too much pressure its stacked. People infront of upset people behind you upset, your upset hahaha. Grounds were good, tight, challenging for sure, bring your iron game. Staff were great.
Challenging
I always like to come back here, very narrow & challenging course, but always great to play
Narrow
This course is extremely narrow and not really my type of layout. There are some very good looking holes but overall way too tight.
Good value for GN
Second time playing here and the greens were in much better shape. Was paired with a player playing shorter tees that lengthened pace of play. It was cart path only due to the severe storms the day before (plugging). Overall, we like this track although there are several blind shots. BRING RANGE FINDER as there's no GPS
A Special Day
Palm Cove was my sixth course after coming down a few days ago from New York. I’ve been playing 36 a day and I played cranes watch and lost Lake and Martin Downs, and the Florida club and hammock Creek before it. I got a $40 after 2 o’clock rate and played by myself today. And believe it or not it was one of my favorite times playing so far…. a very very unique course. If you play from the regular tees everything will be in front of you and it’ll probably seem like a basic course, but if you hit it far enough….over 200…to play from the back yellow tees, you’ll be driving through some amazing shoots that look so intimidating I had to laugh many times. Unbelievably tight… thank God I was hitting my driver solid and straight today. So Palm Cove was so unique and kind of old-school with small greens and super tight Fairways, but it also had something very special about it. And yes the greens are a little bit slower and not perfect but I putt better on slower greens. This morning I must’ve three putted four times at Hammock Creek just having my ball go 4567 feet past the hole. I shot 76 at Crane watch 74 at Lost Lake, 75 at Martin Downs 74 at the florida club and 76 at hammock Creek and these are from the blue tees. And I had 74 today at Palm Cove. My point being that Palm Cove is much shorter, but I had to work my butt off to shoot 74…. Also, the cart guy was super nice and gave me some advice about other courses. Same for the guy in the pro shop. So I think people that say Palm covers in bad shape or full of it. It’s a good solid course. Yes, I used winter rules, but the greens ran smooth and they held nicely and there weren’t a lot of ball marks…you can tell they’re trying to keep it nice. Look at the pictures I am including I dare you to play it from the yellow. It’s less than 6000 from the yellow but you’ll laugh at how tight some of the drives are through shoots in the trees! If you’re reading this, trying to think of where you should come down to play, I would say the Florida club number one hammock Creek and Lost Lake tied for number two… cranes nest and Martin Downs tied for third. Martin Downs was a sleeper …the greens rolled fine and if you play winter rules, you’ll be fine there. There’s lots of grass on the fairways and the layout is actually really really nice. That means Palm Cove is 4th place but if you wanna go play it with your buddies and maybe play a scramble off the yellow tees for fun just to hit some amazing T-Shots….It could be a great time. check out the pics.
