Close to I-95 and a afternoon delite
We played this course on an afternoon starting at 2:20 pm. It was basically empty because the locals like to play in the morning. We flew around this place in 3 hours and had a blast as this was our second course of the day. The routing of the course is awkward from holes 3–7, but the becomes straight forward. Fairways here are very firm and balls roll out and bounce, again this is from holes 1-6. From holes 7-18 they become softer and roll out just a few yards. We booked our starting time here the same day and got an afternoon special, cart fees only at $37.
Always a welcome challenge
My time playing here is always a rewarding way to spend a day on the links. The golf staff is friendly and accommodating, the conditions are consistent, well-maintained fairways, great bunkers and smooth, fast greens. The club itself has great food, is clean, well staffed and inviting. And the course layout is fair but challenging with a great mix of risk and reward.
Update from my earlier March Review.
The new owner has had the bunkers reworked and reduced in size to about 25% of there prior size and location. The cocina waste bunkers have been removed completely. The new bunkers are pretty apparently consistent but they are all cookie sheet flat. This change has significantly reduced the difficulty of this track. They are also making changes to the 16th hole water hazard but that has not been completed.
The new owner has a bit of "rabbit ears" as my earlier review got me thrown out of the club. This after my chasing him around for 4 months to express my concerns for the conditions. Like one of the other reviews he wouldn't meet with me...
Eventually (4 months later) I received a very strange call from the owner to customer which consisted of a minute of his berating me. He wouldn't let me speak to the issues. He never actually told me I was being blackballed. He left that for his membership guy. He is a piece of work.
He had a group of friends from up North down last winter and the conditions for his group were the best I've seen in two years. As soon as they left so did the great conditions. That was my primary complaint.
I think its only a matter of time until he turns his venom on the Greens Superintendent who appears to be in over his head talent wise.
Nice course horrible greens and bunkers
Course was recently bought by an individual from the bank who got stuck with it from developer bankruptcy from 2007 financial disaster
Like the layout and member but frankly the greens and bunkers are worse than your local muni
Promises that new owner will fix some of these issues. He’s spent a fortune on equipment but so far the conditions are as bad as ever
If you going to okay try to time it when the owners in town as the greens seem to get cut and rolled and the bunkers raked.
If he not in town play at your own risk
Sandridge just down the street. Better greens most of the time
NOT HAPPY from a members view
I previously owned 2 country clubs and I know both sides of the fence.
This new owner may have a lot of money but he sure does not know how to treat members.
I have been a member at this club for 5 years. I have signed up 5 new members. Talked a friend into a hosting their wedding at the club, and I also have hosted a few events annually, including a golf event. I even donated a Beverage cart to the course.
I have been having trouble with my elbow so I went in and the Dr. Said I need surgery. I called the club to ask how I would take a medical leave for my membership.
The answer was I need to talk to the new owner.
After 6 emails asking to talk to the new owner I was told that he did not want to talk about it but he told the membership director to talk with me and he said that my FULL FAMILY membership would not qualify for any medical leave.
The sad thing is that every club in Vero has a medical leave if a member is not able to play and has a medical condition.
I guess the new owner has a lost to learn.
Sad to say we are resigning from the club as we speak.
So what did he gain by not sitting and talking with a member that has promoted this club from day 1 ?
Would Definitely Play Again
I was in town on business and was referred to this course only to find out it was private. I was allowed to play it anyway I guess because it was slow. I played the Blues and was very pleased. Course was in great shape. The Greens had recently been sanded (prob a week or so) but were in great shape. I felt there was a definite style change from front to back though. Maybe because they were finishing up some new construction on the back 9 but it was a much different course. A bit longer on the back with some interesting holes. The 1 complaint I had, being a first time golfer at the course, was there was no visual hole information either on the score card or the sign for each hole. I drove into some places I didn't see from the tee. Other than that, I thought the course was a very good test for most golfers. Some short holes and some reachable par 5's and some unreachable par 4's from the blues into a strong wind.
I would play again given the opportunity.
Great Florida style course.
Very challenging from the Blue Tees for the adverage golfer. Suggest the White for first time players.
Good Service - poor control
The course is a nice course. Some very nice holes. The problem, which seems to be common, is that there is no rangers, and they time to play is too long. Starting times, sometimes good control .. most times not. Example: coming from the 9th to find 'walkers' sneak in front. Really? .. yes! ..
