Golf Club At South Hampton
About
The Golf Club at South Hampton was designed to give every golfer appropriate risk-and-reward opportunities that supply both encouragement to beginners and challenges for more advanced players. The slope and contour of the course’s landscape is its trademark with strategic mounding and over 60 contoured bunkers that emphasize the terrain’s natural undulations. The course features rolling fairways and massive greens. There are also sixteen large lakes that come into play throughout. The signature hole is the tremendous par-5, 17th, which is a scenic hole that features a lake, fairway bunkers, and a breaking green. Although the course is a challenge, there are six sets of tees to accommodate all skill levels.

Course needs serious work.
The front 9 is in horrible shape. Greens are awful. Course is full of weeds. Probably the worst I've ever seen it. The back 9 is in surprisingly decent shape. They should really be charging less for the condition it's in. Fire the guy that washes clubs and hire more greenskeepers.
Bill
Nice, well maintained and very courteous staff. Layout could be challenging from back tees but a forgiving course as well.
Once Great, Now Dilapidated
Excellent course layout is all it has going for it. The tee boxes, fairways and greens were chewed up and weedy. Putting was nearly impossible.
Once Great, Now in Ruin
The fairways, teeboxes and greens are all chewed up and filled with weeds. This course is worth HALF of what they charge, if that.
Some greens are burnt
Some of the greens have issues. Overall, the course is in better than average condition
Putting Greens
We played on Friday afternoon at 3pm (3/29/24), 7 out of the first 9 holes were horrible and 3 of them were unplayable, SH should of advised of the conditions before paying that kind of money ($58) - definitely not worth it.. The back 9 were better with a few of them having issue but not as bad of the front nine, Before going out on this course check out the conditions..
Would play again
Very good course. A bit more than somewhat challenging.
Needs A TON of attention
This course is in the absolute worst condition I have ever seen. The greens are completely burnt out with giant sand spots in them, you can actually feel the grass crunching under your feet ( what grass is there). Very bumpy, bare and unplayable. Tee boxes and fairways were not much better. At 45 bucks don’t waste your money. A disappointment
Greens are in rough shape
I love the layout of the course as there is some tight tee shots and small greens. They are losing the greens unfortunately. They roll fast but extremely bouncy with areas that are sand. Pace of play was abysmal. Hopefully the greens crew can turn it around for summer.
Disappointed-Won't be back
Played this course for the 2nd time in two years. We come down every March for THE PLAYERS. Last year the course was nice and prompted me to reserve a tee-time for this year's trip. This year the course was in poor shape, the fairways were sparse and the greens were even worse. South Hampton just feel out of our yearly rotation. We won't be back.
2nd Time was a Disappointment
Played this course last March when we were in town for THE PLAYERS. It was in much better condition then. Fairways were thin and greens were in poor condition. You stand on the apron and can see dozens of previous cup changes. The grass was thin but surprisingly the surfaces rolled rather well.
Hats off to the bag drop attendant, pro shop attendant, starter, and the kid cleaning clubs on the 18th. All were very pleasant, professional, and polite. Will look at other courses in the future.
A great value
If you are you looking for a good round of golf on a solid layout, then this is a great choice. Staff is great and range is very good.
horrible shape
It’s the worst condition I’ve ever seen south Hampton. Really not sure how they can charge what they do. You can tell they aren’t putting money back into the course. Not rangers and kids skipping holes.
Don’t this beat all. One of the two South Hampton owners was seen playing at STILLWATER today. Instead of paying attention to his course, which is in much needed repair. Must be nice to have daddy’money!
It was a much better course when Hampton Golf was in charge. These new owners are clueless. IMHO I’m told daddy bought the course for them and they spend all their time in Ponte Vedra. TRY STILLWATER JUST A MILE FURTHER WEST ON COUNTY ROAD 210 IT IS PRISTINE!
ROFLMFAO!!
