Stoneybrook West Golf Course

About
Designed by Arthur Hills Stoneybrook West is a roaming blend of gutsy, penal holes, picturesque par threes over water, reachable par fives (527 and 522 yards from the tips, then 578 and 605), and several short, sporty par fours that cover all corners of the site. Dramatically rolling fairways salted with Hills' trademark grass-faced bunkers, subtle elevation changes and undulating greens were all artfully carved out of native orange groves, overlooking Black Lake. Water comes into play on 12 holes; you'll find all 18 are distinctly different, challenging and memorable.
For those visiting the Orlando area, particularly the Disney World complex, Stoneybrook West is just a matter of minutes up the road to the north. For those who frequent the Orlando golf circuit, Stoneybrook West is a course that must be seen to be measured against the other name courses.

Golf Advisor: Top 25 Most Improved U.S. Golf Courses (2017 #18)
Reviews
A fair value …
Overall it was a good day. Definitely overheated with dry weather of late here in Central FL. Greens were fine. Will definitely play this course again.
Stoneybrook West
This course is too expensive for what they offer. The greens are new and they are the only thing that saves the round. Fairways are too raw, bunkers are dirt. Any good shot is punished by the poor conditions of the golf course. The starter was very unfriendly and looked miserable doing his job. Not going back.
Buy when you have a Hot Deal
Played Stoneybrook West for a Hot Deal price. Enjoy the layout. Some of the fairways need work. Greens roll well Rack rate is too much for this course
Part that is upsetting is the price they charge for range balls. They charge $10 for a small bucket of range balls. The bag was sold to me as a 30 ball bag. I counted mine & there were only 24
Better, Still needs time
First time playing this course since the reopen. The front side 9 is hard and fast. Lots of weeds, greens are brown and really fast because there is no grass. On the flip side, the back 9 was night and day in comparison. Everything was much healthier! The fairways and greens were great! Give it some time and this course will be back to its conditions of the past! Staff was very friendly and they now have the Brian Davis golf academy (former PGA Tour and current Champions Tour player).
Decent Course, Good Condition
We were greeted by a 30 minute delay upon arrival but the pro shop did give us a bag of balls for the range, so that helped pass the time. The cart attendant did check in with us and made great effort to keep us informed about our delayed tee time. Apparently there was a tournament ahead of us. We ultimately got started almost an hour later than our tee time. During the round, the pace of play we good with us only getting stacked up twice, but not for a very long time. The course was in decent shape although a but dry. The greens were fast but stiff and didn't hold shots easily. The course is pretty open and forgiving, but does have its challenging holes. All in all, it was a good experience. I would definitely go back to play the course again and I would recommend to friends.
Overbooked l 40mins behind
The course overbooked tee times, which led to us starting 40 minutes after our scheduled time, and then at every tee box we still had to wait close to 10 minutes before we could tee off. It took us almost 6 hours to finish 18 holes.
Love the course
I played here several times, the last time was 6 months ago. It was in better shape though I don't blame it because the rainy season will bring it back to where it was before however it needs a lot of work still. Love the course, had my friends from Canada here, we played quickly, though it needs a lot of TLC still. I'll be back.
Take a chance
It's was the first time and liked the layout, staff was friendly would highly recommend
Overall Great Round
Start time on time, pace of play good, course conditions were good. Restaurant after round, good food.
Great course
After an ordinary opening couple of holes, the course is a great test of golf. The greens were immaculate although the surrounds and fairways need a bit of growth. I am a low handicap golfer and played from the back tees. It was extremely challenging but fair with one par 5 ensuring over 600 yards and plenty of par 4’s over 450. The ability to be able to hit the ball with a fade and draw would be great! The course was fair and rewarded good shots and punished bad ones. Whilst not as well manicured as some courses I would prefer to play here, from a purely golfing respective, than Celebration, Hawks Landing or Mystic Dunes. The pro was really friendly and welcoming.
Stoneybrook West
Close to home and a go to course. Great layout with improving conditions. Needs work around greens and bunkers. Course needs a ranger to keep pace of play around four hours. P
Fast Greens
First time playing here. They were backed up a little to start because of an outing but only by 15 minutes. The fairways could be better but the greens are fast. We did notice the sand traps are filled with a harder sand so had to figure out how to get out without skulking the ball. Tons of water to watch out for but just strike the ball more strategically. Likes the course and would play again. Golf Now has a good price for us to play.
Start 45 minutes late and 5 hour round
They let off two tournaments before letting regular tee times start
Very slow pace, crowded
Absolutely awful at spacing tee times, waiting 20+ on ever hole
Not The Best
Not much grass on the fairways, greens were skinned and wicked fast. Pace of play was terrible and there were no marshals out at all. Took us 3 hours to play 9 holes...we quit.
It was ALRIGHT
First time at the course. Was it very busy but we did have four groups of four in front of us. I rented clubs there were mismatch clubs in the set. And the craziest thing I have ever heard, they did not offer any golf balls with the rental set. Also, I have never paid for a ride along in my life but I had to pay for my wife to sit in the car and read her book. Definitely not a great first impression of Florida golf. As an out of state golfer that plays at least three times a week I would not recommend this course.
Stoney Brook West
Greens were in great shape but the tee areas and fairways were in bad shape and the sand traps were quite hard
I don’t think I’ll be back
