Fun courses
One of two executive courses (pars of 30 and 32) combine with a tough regulation 9 (par 35) for a fun and interesting 18 holes. The executive courses have a great variety of par 3s (long, short, uphill, downhill) with several potentially driveable par 4s (220 to 300 yards) that give you practice with all your clubs before you head out on a tougher 3000-yard (+) back nine (the first par 4 is a stout one, and so are the two par 5s, which are a bit longer than average). Fairways and greens are in good shape, and so are the carts. The modest clubhouse is well kept and has a great bell tower that rings out the hours and a carillon that follows up with a lovely tune. The man who runs the pro-shop on the weekends is a delight to deal with. My wife and I have really enjoyed our golf here, and feel that the hour-long drive to get to the course is well worth it.
Most Improved Award
WOW! Returning snowbirds will love the excellent conditions of the Sanctuary Course at Pennbrooke Fairways. New superintendent and maintenance company have done a great job making this one of the most enjoyable courses in the area. Fairways are lush and greens roll true. Beautiful course with water coming into play on several holes. Great value - will definitely play again.
Needs tender loving care.
The fairways were so dry and barren it was hard to get under the ball. The greens were full of weeds. Finished play under 3 hours because no one was playing.
Disappointed
Not the plushest course in the world. It was ok, but lots of bare spots. Front 9 we played was a regulation/championship course. But, then, the back 9, we were on an executive course with only 3 Par 4's and no Par 5's. We didn't know that when we booked. Disappointed!
Wonderful day!
So nice to get out in the middle of the chaos that is COVID. We had not golfed in well over a month and we had a fantastic time at Pennbrooke.
So so
Course was in rough shape, Sanctuary( front nine wasn’t too bad but Oaks( back nine was almost all par 3’s and conditions weren’t very good.
This Course has a nice layout, but needs work on their tees & greens. Great for beginners
Good Place to play...
Great layout. Use of your Irons and on some holes you can hit Driver (2 Nice Par 5s) if you want too., Work in progress to fix tee boxes. Fairways and rough need some work but the Greens were in good condition and the ball rolled very nice.
Mike's review
I have played several rounds here and I found the Sanctuary course especially challenging, but fair. I love the layout of all 3 courses and the staff who are very courteous and helpful. I would recommend these tracks to my friends.
Greens Great
Greens were great compared to the fairways. These were in need of mowing and grass. Tee boxes also were in need of work. Pace was quick as no one was there.
Just Okay
The course could be great if the fairways were improved. There was a tremendous amounts of weeds. Most greens were in good shape. the tee boxes were not in good condition.. The course wAS JUST AVERAGE.
Rough condition
Greens were all pitted. Tee boxes looked dead and brown. I did not mind the layout but it’s more of a par 3 course. I am a bad golfer and I was putting for eagle twice....There was one gator in a pond and that was entertaining.
