Sad That it Closed
Drove straight through the night to play this Gold Digest best public course of the year and it did not disappoint.
Relaxing
There was no rush on playing and the golf cart had a ball and glof club cleaner on them!
My Review of King Carter - Winter Play
Nice course, of the "rolling farmland" style. Course conditions were very good, almost exceptional for this time of year. Many pretty holes. Greens were almost too good, likely tour style - one small stroke of the putter got the ball rolling true, but typically fast past the hole. My personal preference is to have greens a bit slower and more amenable to a good stroke of the putter. Staff was very friendly. Clubhouse was very modest. The course was not particularly crowded on the day that I played, but this was likely because it was a Monday in late November. Overall a good round on a nice course, but not a "favorite" course.
Great Course
Wonderfully maintained. Great conditions. well groomed fairways. NICE greens. The only criticism that I have is that no tee boxes existed for seniors. I had a tough time on the white tees getting over the lateral hazzards from the top. Otherwise, I really liked the course and the deportment of the staff.
A little out of the way but worth the drive.
King Carter is an excellent course, well worth the price. The fairways and traps were full and well maintained. Nice terrain and we'll defined fairways. We played one day and came back again the following day because local knowledge is important. By the way, we have to drive almost two hours to get there.
Great Course
King Carter is much better than Golden Eagle golf club which we played the day before. The layout of the course is nice and every hole is well maintained. My wife and I really enjoyed the round.
Great course to play
Perfect coditions to play, except for the extremely slow foursome holding up play for at least 5 other groups. The course codition was excellent overall. However, the greens still showed evidence of aeration done several weeks ago; wondering if they are rolling them regularly. Also, the bunkers seem to be in need of a little attention, like more sand and an occasional raking. Fairways were excellent and second cut not too high. As I said earlier, an extremely slow foursome we followed on the front nine had five other groups virtually stopped at the ninth, holding up five other groups.
Varied terrain
Course was in very good condition. Sand traps could have been a little more forgiving....very packed and thin. Overall, an enjoyable round...part Links, part Parkland. Lots of sidehill lies.... Fun alternative to Tides, which is a great layout but more traditional. Can't go wrong with either course...especially with a GN Hot Deal!
dog track
pace of play was horrific, finished 1st 4 holes in 1.5 hours. no rangers, no one to push layers. people playing as single, twosomes, not paired up and backing up the course. I left the course after the 4th hole. Not worth my time or energy. Took the fun out of the game. Horrible experience. never again. Will not recommend it to anyone. And course not in good shape. Total waste of time.
Need To Play More Than Once
Drove Thru Several Doglegs. Lost Two Balls That Way. Fairways were Firm and Brown. Bermuda not in yet. Greens are in good shape, still show some recent work. No pictures of the holes on either the scorecard or the hole yardage marker. Club selection will change on my second loop around the course.
Thanks for the feedback. We'll be sure to provide you with a yardage card prior to your next round. Hope to see you at King Carter Golf Club soon.

Beautiful layout, well maintained
This course is 2+ hours from my house; so, I don't get there often. Each time, I think, "If it were only closer . . .". The new clubhouse is good, the staff are all friendly. Course if wide open in places, but tight and tough in others, a good balance.
Not sure what happened on that particular day,but I've played the course a dozen times or more and each time the course was in either good or excellent condition, and pace of play was usually better than average. This comment is difficult to accept coming from a supposedly single digit handicapper. If a golfer quits after 4 holes there's probably another reason than the course.
On behalf of King Carter Golf Club I'd like to apologize for your experience. I'd be happy to have you out complimentary when convenient for you to have a true experience of our great golf course.
