About

Holes 18
Par 72
Length 6210

Rating 70.6
Type Public
Tampa Bay Golf & Country Club is a Scottish links-style layout that is routed through sparkling lakes and carefully preserved conservation areas. The challenging layout features narrow tree-lined fairways and water hazards on all 18 holes. The front nine is short and tight, which contrasts nicely with the longer and more open back nine. Overall though, the golf course is not particularly long by modern standards. It is a shot-maker's course, requiring both accuracy and skilled iron play. The course has a challenging finishing hole that sums up the best elements of the course. This par-4 is a sharp dogleg right with a slew of bunkers and a pond to reckon with. The hole borders a nature preserve, making it the prettiest and most challenging hole on the course.

Good value for the money.

Good value for the money. But: Greens are far to fast for even good amateurs. Not fair.

pace of play... excellent greens

It took little over 5 hours to play because of 2 members who thought they were on the senior tour who held up the entire course. They were playing the wrong tees, (all the way at the back) were never "golf ready". I know I played on a Holiday so it would be slower then normal but where there are open holes ahead of them (4 some pulling ways from them) something is wrong. The Ranger did nothing about it, even agreed with me they were slow, not golf ready, and were on the wrong tees. But brushed it off saying, "well they are members what can you do...." ** Course Review ** The course was challenging enough. You have to be smart with club selection off the tee because of the small landing area to hit too. Small firm greens, that were quick and ran true. Very nice to putt on. There is plenty of water that does come into play on almost every hole.

Gr eat Course Conditions

The fairways were beautiful and the greens were super fast........ great course conditions. The course is very tight with lots of water and I had only played the course once before four years ago so I discovered that a lot of shots I thought were great met a watery grave. Loved the fairways and greens . There was a lot of driving between holes and we found that hole one and ten were not clearly marked.

Awesome

Tampa Bay GC is a very nice golf course. The course is in really good shape. Greens are fast but fair. Fairways are good, with lush grass and subtle undulations that make some shots challenging. Fairways are narrow and water plays into many shots. All in all a really nice golf course. I will play it the next time I'm in Florida.

Good experience

We were part of a shotgun start so a little intimidating to find the 13th hole. Narrow fairways with a good amount of water and sand. Fairways & greens in pretty good shape, will take a few rounds to get a good idea of the right lines to take.

Thus is a very good course, a good test for the average golfer. The staff was excellent, value - course layout was good, amenities was average since they are going through a major renovation which will be outstanding when completed in December. My two concerns were the pace of play & the course conditions. I was behind a foursome & threesome that took 2-3 practice swings before hitting & lined up every putt from every angle as if they were at the Masters...come on people. It took 2.5 hrs to play the front 9, thank goodness these 7 hackers went to the clubhouse & I was able to get them behind me. The course condition DOES NOT reflect on the staff & management but to the those of previous players (I use that term lightly) of the course. On every hole I was filling in divots on the tee boxes & fairways that hackers couldn't or wouldn't take the time to fill. On the greens I fixed a number of ball marks that were either overlooked or just ignored...For those of us that respect the game & the rules, it makes us mad when we have to fix the results of hackers that don't care how they leave the course. For this, remember what was taught to us that do play the game "Leave the course in the same or better condition than you found it"!!!

Worth the Drive

Pricing on everyday Hot Deals makes the extra drive worth it. Course is always in good shape including the greens and the Staff are effecient and friendly. We played the Blue Tees and though still under 6,000 yds, there is still plenty of water and challenge for everyone. Will return.
