Tampa Bay Golf & Country Club
About
Tampa Bay Golf & Country Club is a Scottish links-style layout that is routed through sparkling lakes and carefully preserved conservation areas. The challenging layout features narrow tree-lined fairways and water hazards on all 18 holes. The front nine is short and tight, which contrasts nicely with the longer and more open back nine. Overall though, the golf course is not particularly long by modern standards. It is a shot-maker's course, requiring both accuracy and skilled iron play. The course has a challenging finishing hole that sums up the best elements of the course. This par-4 is a sharp dogleg right with a slew of bunkers and a pond to reckon with. The hole borders a nature preserve, making it the prettiest and most challenging hole on the course.

Better shape this year than last
Have played this course since it opened. It is in good shape now and well worth the trip to play it. However, watch out for the Shotgun Starts which you may get booked into without knowing it. I would recommend calling the course ahead of time to see if you are buying a tee time which is included in the shotgun start. Luckily, there were not a lot of golfers in the shotgun start yesterday and it worked out pretty good. We made good time and had fun.
Good course. Short but in good shape
Good course for the money. Narrow fairways can be challenging.
Great value for the dollar
Very nicely maintained, greens were in great shape
Water, water everywhere...
Literally... on every hole. But it wasn't as intimidating as it may sound. Don't get me wrong, the greens were well protected. But it was a combination of water, sand and doglegs. I thought this was a very good course.
There were some areas around greens and tees that were spongy and wet, apparently from heavy watering, but it wasn't every hole or even most holes. No holes ran side by side, so you never had to worry about wayward shots.
I will play this course again (and very possibly the executive course as well)
NICE WELL MAINTAINED COURSE
SINCE I PLAYED ALONE, THE TIME FOR PLAYING IS PROBABLY NOT ACCURATE. VERY NICE CHALLENGING COURSE
Great Greens, fast and smooth Very nice course
We arrived early for our 7:20ish tee time on a Saturday..While still dark we could see enough to put on the Practice putting green, which was fast even with dew still on the ground. Pro shop guy was very nice, all the other resident golfers with their own carts were super friendly and very helpful to us, since it was our first time at this course. Conditions were superb. From tee to green everything was great, only a few soggy spots due to so much rain this season. A very tight and Challenging course, fairways are very narrow and the greens are smaller than most courses, water on every hole and most has multiple lakes and ponds to navigate around. A true shot makers course. Greens rolled fast, smooth and true..We were allowed to play through on the 4th hole and never saw another group until 18. Finished in under 3 hours. Overall a fantastic experience. I cant wait to go back and conquer all the tight landing areas..Will take a few rounds to learn where you have to land the ball, shot after shot to score well...A great find!!
Not a long course, but accuracy is required to score well.
Due to aerating and wet conditions (cart path only), this course was not in excellent condition. But certainly playable and will improve as I've played this course before.
Length is not a necessity but accuracy is needed. Big hitters may find it better to use the 3 wood rather than the driver if you've not played the course before....easy to hit through several fairways from the tee.
Lots of water and wet lands....pay attention to the hole descriptions. A few holes where houses are reachable with an errant drive.
Greens are not enormous adding to accuracy needs.
Short and Challenging
A short but demanding course... a straight shot from the tee to green is essential to score well on this course. Water comes into play on 17 of the 18 holes. Course is very well maintained. Friendly staff and nice restaurant and bar. However, there are too many houses that are much too close to the course. Very few trees exist between houses and course. If one looks away from the fairway, it is easy to forget that you are on a golf course.
Great and easy to get to.
LOVE this course. A friend said to play it and I finally did. Not that long BUT a good amount of trouble, esp. to the left of most holes. Played with a nice guy from Lakeland. We blew thru 18 in no time. Greens were pretty slick. I liked the clubhouse staff AND the bar staff. Good folks!
lots of fun, makes you think!
May be a short course, but you have to play smart or your in the water, or woods. Greens were excellent and fast. Got a great price, would play again.
very good course, would recomend too anyone.
well maintained golf course, very challenging, and fun too play.
This course is challenging and really good shape.
I've played this course about a dozen times over the years and find it to be challenging and always in good shape. The greens roll true and there are several holes that you have to think your way around. It can play fairly long depending on you tee selection. Overall it's in a great location for me right off the interstate, the price is right and I definitely plan on playing here more in the future.
This is the perfect course for the average golfer who hates long courses, but still is challenging.
This is now one of my three favorite golf courses. Taking up this game at 57 years old, and I am now 59, I hate courses that are over 6000 yards from the white tees, no matter how many target holes there are. I loved it and will make it at the very least, a monthly stop for me and my friends. Breaking 90 was never so much fun.
Too tight, too wet.
Left the "big dog" in the bag on all but about four tees. The course is not long, so lots of layups off the tees. If you enjoy target golf you might like the layout, but if you like to hit the driver you may want to take a pass. The par 5 number 17, I hit driver, wedge, 6 iron (not kidding). The staff was very friendly, the course was in decent shape. We played in the afternoon on a weekday, so pace of play was not an issue. Last warning, if you hit it crooked bring lots of balls!
tee ball has to be right, it might look like driver think again if your not sharp with that stick
green run at 9+ in great condition, driving range suppy balls
Bumpy greens
Overall the course was in good shape. The greens needed to be rolled. they were a little bumpy and pushed the ball off line.
Course is typical for Florida subdivision courses. A few holes are a bit quirky, but overall a good layout. Greens are nice size and fast.
Amenities are very nice, location is convenient and it is a pleasant experience.
Water,Water,Water.
This is a really fun course. Very tight fairways and yes a whole lot of water. I think that there is water on every whole. A lot of roll out on the fairways and fast greens. This course will either make you feel like Tiger Woods or the worst player on earth. All kinds of wildlife including several gators. Very pretty and a lot of fun. Give it a try. I did and it was a blast. Thank you to the staff for being so friendly, that is becoming a rarity these days.
very tight course, houses reachable on most holes
Fun course and great to test accuracy. You must plan each hole from the tee as many fairways rub off into water that you can't see from the tee deck.
