Tampa Bay Golf & Country Club
About
Tampa Bay Golf & Country Club is a Scottish links-style layout that is routed through sparkling lakes and carefully preserved conservation areas. The challenging layout features narrow tree-lined fairways and water hazards on all 18 holes. The front nine is short and tight, which contrasts nicely with the longer and more open back nine. Overall though, the golf course is not particularly long by modern standards. It is a shot-maker's course, requiring both accuracy and skilled iron play. The course has a challenging finishing hole that sums up the best elements of the course. This par-4 is a sharp dogleg right with a slew of bunkers and a pond to reckon with. The hole borders a nature preserve, making it the prettiest and most challenging hole on the course.

Beating the Rain
I had never golfed her before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. It exceeded my expectations. However, it was a very difficult course. Water on just about every hole. Had to rush because of summer time rains. I will play it again.
A great round on a great course.
We dined and played 18. Everything was excellent.
Course conditions
Course conditions were excellent. The only issue I had was a lot of groups of two on the course for a Sunday at 1300
Tough Course
Not a bad lay out but certainly challenging. Lots of water and narrow fairways. Mostly in great shape with the exception of a couple of holes that had some digging up going on.
Playing after 11
Pace of play at this time is great
So much water.
Even off the first tee, I knew it was going to be challenging. Its not a long course, but the fairways are very narrow and generally slope towards water at every turn. Definitely think about hitting hybrid or iron off a lot of tees. Also, a lot of the water is hidden from view off the tee so be sure to look closely for red stakes. Tees and fairways are in good shape and didn't have to roll my ball once. Some of the greens were being worked on and plugged but in a month they should be ok. Rolled true and didn't have many surprises on the greens, fairly quick. My main gripe is that the course has a ridiculous amount of water and if you don't hit it to the center third of the fairway, you will definitely lose balls. I had 6 drives roll in the drink. If you are a first time player, be extra careful with where you place your shots on the fairway. A player really needs to play this course a few times to get how it goes. Got to play for $14 though, so for that it was basically like playing for free. Probably wont be back as the course layout is just so ridiculously difficult and punishing even to very good shots. Good pro shop, good bar/restaurant, food was great.
lots of water
While this course is short, there is trouble on every hole . A lot of water and wetlands to deal with along with some tight fairways. greens were good shape with a moderate speed. If you hit a long ball off the tee, then you better be playing a hybrid or long iron off the tee on most of the par 4s. I recommend this course with the caveat of, you need to play it 2 or 3 times so that you know where all the trouble is located.
Needs water
The fairways were pretty dry and it looked like some watering was needed. I have played this course over a period of years and in the past it was in better shape. This is a very difficult course as water is in play on almost every hole. Sometimes the water is hidden from view so pay attention of the scorecard.
Fun Layout
The course was in good condition, particularly the fairways. Back tees are just 6500 yards and some holes were quite short. BUT-many greens are shallow or narrow, and there are some extreme doglegs where you really have to drive it long. The par 3's are all medium to long length, and with the wind, we had to drive on a 210 yd par 3. Lots of water, and some of the fairways will roll into them since the course was firm. Looking forward to play again.
Tampa Bay Golf is a good course for seniors.
The course is in a great shape. It is fun playing at the Tampa Bay Golf.
This is a must play course
This course is in the best condition above & beyond any other within 50 miles. Once inside the gate nothing but owner/operator golf carts .9/10 of the players live on it but if you are lucky enough to get a tee time go for it . Without a doubt, tee to green is impeccable, not a weed to be found. Tif Eagle greens are always a plus!
It is not an easy course, with enough water & bunkers to get you in trouble.
Although it was much nicer before they built houses next to the cart path on a few holes.
Great day for golf.
I was paired up with 3 true gentlemen. We had a fun time.
The course is roughly 5900 from the whites, because we were all over 65 that's where played. It is very tight, loaded with water and had fast greens. All of which I liked, although I can't say the same for a couple of the guys I played with. One guy said he went through 21 balls, and I believe him. As many shots as were taken they played fast (4 hrs, occasionally waiting on the group ahead).
Great day! I'll be back.
Slower than slow
My tip would be to ask if there are any special tournaments that are taking place in front of your tee time. After pay $60.00 for me and my step-daughter to play 18 holes of golf...I find out that there is some type of qualifying event with 16 slow golfers in front of us. It took over 2 1/2 hours to play the front 9 and with a 12:44 tee time, we would be in danger of not finishing 18 if we stay were we where. So after #9 we went and play the executive course, just to make up some of the money I threw away. Live and learn!
Tight course.
Greens and fairways in great condition. It is a must to put your ball in good position as the course is tight. Short but very challenging.
Great course
Don't let the short yardage fool you.. Harder than it looks. Greens were in excellent shape. Staff very helpful. P.S. Bring lots of balls...
Fantastic
It has been well over 8 years since I last played this course and it was in fantastic shape. What a great job they have done with this course. The greens were in perfect condition (bettter than Lake Jovita's greens) and fairways were nice also. The staff was very good and treated us like we were part of the membership. The members were very friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent and the service in the eating facility was top notch. Hats off to Brian our waiter. We are already planning our next visit. Keep your driver under lock and key and play for position. If you try and over power this course it will eat you alive....
Tampa Bay GCC First Time
My son Ben and I enjoyed a round last Saturday at TBGCC. The staff person that checked us in was very friendly, got us out early and even threw in a small bucket. Although we were playing a twosome we moved along at a fairly fast pace and finished in 3:40 minutes. Excellent. Course is nice, somewhat tight with lots of water. We played from the tips which only stretches to about 6300 yards. Greens were full and thick with grass and in good shape. Distances are marked very well, which aids in pace of play, more course in Tampa need to do better in this regard. Overall a very good day and I would go back.
LLNC
Great course and challenging from the blues. Fun forced carries and dog-legs. Greens were in good condition, best that we have seen in this area. Pace was slow, but it was Veteran's Day, so to be expected. Food & bar is great with excellent prices. Good course to try, we will go back. Great staff on course, pro-shop and bar/restaurant.
Great shape
Great price and great shape. greens in very good condition. Actually tees and fairways were above average. Hadn't played here in several years, but will play again very soon.
Keep it straight
With water on every hole, it is vital to hit the fairways and keep the ball in play at all times. Today was one of those rare days when I was able to accomplish this, and my score benefited. However, I don't see this happening every time you play there. The course also winds around a neighborhood, so don't be surprised as you head toward holes having to go through the sides and backs of private homes.
