Panama Country Club
About
Panama Country Club is situated on the Intracoastal Waterway along the Gulf of Mexico. Donald Ross designed the golf course in 1927. Eight of the holes still reflect his original work. The fairways range in size from narrow to medium width and they are strategically routed through the natural features of the environment, not only preserving them but also allowing them to come into play. The course is mostly flat, making it pleasant to walk, but there are a few subtle contours that provide a challenging element to the layout. A number of holes also feature water hazards. The small greens play fast, indicative of the era in which they were built. Panama Country Club's greens are in consistently good condition year-round thanks to a 2005 resurfacing project.

Hoosier Daddy
Played by myself was behind a threesome and a foursome 1st group let me through on 1st par 3 second on 2nd par 3 after that was clear sailing considering the hurricane damage course was very playable had a great time staff was friendly and courteous will play here again next time I'm in the area
First time back since Hurricane Michael
It was very disheartening to see the loss of trees as a result of the Hurricane. Although they are now operating out of a temporary trailer, the course was in spectacular condition. The tees, fairways and greens were in great shape. I believe they were better than any of the courses I played in the area. I plan to play again soon, and my best go out to the entire staff for their efforts getting this course up and running in such good condition after the hurricane.
Fun to play
I’ve been at the beach for several weeks and this was my second trip to Panama CC. The course was private pre-Hurricane Michael but now open to the public. Booked on GolfNow. A Donald Ross design, they lost thousands of trees which means it’s wide open now. Still a lot of evidence of damage especially to the cart paths. Greens were excellent and fairways very good. There are quite a few black fox squirrels that run over the course, not sure if the lack of trees is an issue but I had several approach in what appeared to be an aggressive manner. Apparently many of the members feed them so that’s why they approach. It got on my nerves several times but now that I know I’ll bring a bag of peanuts next time to distract them. Give this course a try, staff is very friendly and they are trying hard to get the place back, you won’t be disappointed.
Considering the devastation from Hurricane Michael the course was in good shape. Unfortunately the clubhouse sustained extensive damage and is not open, but we had an enjoyable round and will play again
So sad the devistation
1st time playing this track since Michael. They have made huge strides in putting this classic Ross design back together in 1 year from the Hurricane. The staff was outstanding and the new greens are coming in. Just such a different place without all the oaks and pines. We plan to return as often as possible to play and support thier efforts of rebuilding. 5 Stars for effort and hard work to the entire staff
Devastated from Hurricane Michael
I came to PCB to relax and play some golf. I realized PCCC was private and know open to public so I took the opportunity to play. I got a $20, deal with Golf Now so I was not expecting a great deal. Being a Donald Ross design, they lost thousands of trees which means it’s wide open now. Some of the holes were difficult to figure out, but on the other hand several holes became easier as there was no trees and you could hit move drivers. From tee to green the course is one of the best in PCB. Greens were excellent and fairways very good. Tee boxes and bunkers were in great shape. Give this course a try, staff is very friendly and they are trying hard to get the place back, you won’t be disappointed. I had also played Bay Point Nicklaus Course and the greens at PCCC we’re better.
Good layout
The course was devastated by a hurricane a year ago. They have redone all the greens, working on rough and tree losses. Looks like the clubhouse has been gutted, would like to see it when its redone.
Great Value
I played from the white tees and it is challenging. The fairways and greens are in nice shape but the course has experienced a lot of damage from the hurricane. They are doing a great job and making a comeback the staff is extremely friendly I would recommend this course
Michael took its toll
The course was recommended to me a couple of years ago but since it was a private CC, I never tried to get on it when I was in the PCB area. This year, it showed up on GolfNow so I booked a time. A Donald Ross design, the vast majority of the majestic oaks that previously lined its fairways are now gone, making the course much more open and forgiving. Still a challenging layout due to the size and contour of the greens, which were in pretty good shape. Practice area was pretty rough and the main clubhouse was still closed, with the pro shop operating out of a trailer. I wish I could have played it before the hurricane. Staff was friendly and course was not busy on a Tuesday so I went around in 2.5 hours. I plan to play it again the next time I’m in the area.
nice course but needs marking
After reopening following hurricane Michael, the beauty of the course is much diminished, but the layout is the same and the fairways and greens are in remarkable shape. My only complaint is that there are very few markings for distance so I was guessing about whether I was 150 or 170 because I don't have gps. If they would just put a 150 post or something it would be a great help.
conditions
damage from hurricane Micheal steal present. will take year plus to get in shape.
If off fairways balls most likely will cost you a penalty stroke.
The greens are in excellent shape. The rest of the course is in fair shape after reopening from last year's hurricane.
Post Hurricane Michael
I was pleasantly surprised how well the course has come around since the hurricane wiped everything away...Still no clubhouse, working out of a mobile home at this time...Most of the 100 plus year old trees are gone, so now more like a links course. Greens in very nice shape, fairways great, rough a little thick but with the rain we have had I understand....Over all the course is a little bit easier because of being able to drive over the doglegs, where before those hugh trees wouldn't allow you too.
Still recovering from hurricane
This is a fun course, but I would not pay the full price for this course. It’s worth $30 or less. The hurricane a year ago did a lot of damage and they are still repairing things. Greens are in good condition but hard, rolls good for putts but runs off on chips, approach shots roll off too.
Greens and fairways are in great shape!
Considering a hurricane hit them about a year ago and wiped out 80 percent of their trees, and they are rebuilding the clubhouse and working out of a portable, they have the greens and fairways looking great! There are black squirrels on the course looking for food and some will eat out of your hand, so bring them some nuts...
Nice day and a good time
The staff was very friendly, and honest about the condition of the course. Overall it was in good shape; although, they had aerated the fairways recently. It was also very damp due to all the rain over the last month or so. The greens were a tad slow compared to my home course, but in good shape. I will be back.
Could be an absolute gem....
Played here whilst passing through Panama Beach City. I work on a golf course in the UK and feel for the course staff here. They’ve had tons of rain and the fairways are battered .... they’d been deeply aerated and didn’t have a lot of grass. Positives were that the greens were fair and ran true, tee boxes were in good shape and the bunkers good. Pace of play excellent and the price we paid for the golf reflected the course conditions so no complaints. I wish the course superintendent the best of luck with the weather.
