Great course but lacking in customer service.
Course was overall in great condition with nice views. Hitting the fairway is a must as the rough is very thick. Greens are very fast and firm. Your approach shots better come in high and or with plenty of spin or it will not hold the green. Tough course but fair with opportunities to score.
My only complaint is with employee in clubhouse. After Teeing off at 720 am and enjoying my first 9 (ridgeline) as a single, I was invited by 3 members to join them on the second 9 (canyon). They were very nice gentlemen and we all had a great time. Upon finishing those 9 holes, the 3 members asked if I would like to continue joining them for 9 more holes (creekside) since they had only golfed 9 holes at that point. I said sure and proceeded to the clubhouse to pay for an extra 9 holes. I was told it would be an extra $37 on top of the $109 I had already paid for 18 holes but, the next available time would be in 90 minutes. I explained to him that I just finished playing 9 with 3 members and I was invited to join them for 9 more. He said that I would have to wait for next available time. This made absolutely no sense to me at all. I didn't want to argue the point and hold up the 3 members waiting for me outside so I told the members thanks but I won't be able to join them.
Other than my interaction with employee in clubhouse, all other employees were friendly.
Magnificent
One the best golf course in LA
The conditions and the presentation of the course were impeccable.
Beware the down hill putt
Played ridgeline and creekside both courses are in great shape. Greens were rolling fast and smooth . The pro shop and starter were very busy as there was a lot golfers ready to tee off and did a good job getting us out 5 minutes early. Course was busy so play was a little slow at times but overall okay. Be back soon
Awesome!!!
The golf course condition was perfect... it is really a nice course. Too bad the wind was blowing pretty hard... but otherwise... Awesome
a nice day
Ridgeline and Canyon were a real challenge. Love the greens. When the rain comes this course will get
into great shape.
Bad attitude starter
Course is in ok shape , a lot of brown fairways. Not normal moorpark cc condition but still nice. Only had ridgeline and canyon crest open. Creek side is closed. Proshop Personal were great but the starter was very unprofessional towards non members. (Very noticeable) lucky we didn't have to deal with that guy much.
Wow
I was absolutely blown away by the stunning layout and fast greens....bring couple extra balls this course is difficult!,
Great Round
Played on a Sunday at 12:20
Played in 4 hours.
Conditions were very good for the most part....Greens rolled true.
Great layout and design, great views. got a great deal with a hot deal through golf now for $60...
Fun Round Creekside-Canyon
This is probably one of the nicest courses in the city- we played at 2 on 9/2 and drove out from Los Angeles during a heatwave and brush fires in LA...temperature dropped by 7-8 degrees out here and course was deserted. Fantastic pace of play! Appears might be doing some fairway aeration but nothing to hurt a round. Creekside has a couple of carries that are kinda absurd for amateur golfers, wish they could make them more reasonable. Otherwise prepare yourself for a treat if you drive out to Moorpark for this gem with 27 holes!
You Might Regret it!
What?! 27 holes you say?!
Visiting from out of town I regret playing 18 at this golf wonderland because now I need to return to play the 9 holes I missed! I had the pleasure of playing Ridgeline and Canyon Crest on a peaceful Monday afternoon. The starter gave us the lowdown on the courses and tips for play. Clubhouse was great. Drinks and apps in the bar following our round were exceptional.
Plenty of elevation changes, scenery and forced carries for my target golf loving appetite. Ridgeline was the more rural of the 2 courses. Canyon meanders thru some residential zones but still very picturesque and enjoyable. Greens keepers know their craft out there with turf near perfect and bunkers well maintained.
My visit left me wanting More Moorpark! Soon to return!
Great Course, Great Price
Moorpark Country Club is so beautiful from when you drive up, to the driving range, to the course itself. Very friendly staff. Three 9's gives you some variation each time you play. All 3 have different views and challenges.
Must Play Course
This course is worth every cent. It was surprising to see some dry spots, but it did not take away from the joy of playing this course. This is a must play course. You will not regret it. Just bring plenty of golf balls if you do not hit it straight. Staff was very friendly and informative, especially Milton.
Moorpark Coures Review
I have played this course about 6-8 times in the past and this was as good an experience as I have already had. Unfortunately, I was not allowed to play Creekside, which is the one 9 holes I have yet to play. Nevertheless, the course and staff, as always are first rate.
Moorpark CC
Played the Blues on all three 9's with GK Gurus stickboy, MrKich & mdames. Really easy going and enjoyable group to play with. Thanks to Vince, Matt & Mike for a nice day and to Moorpark CC for having us out! The course was not real busy, we let one single play through and played 27 holes in slightly less than 7H total. The weather was nice, bright, sunny, in the 80's with little wind most of the day. The tees were mostly level & lush with few unfixed divots. The fairways were mostly lush with a few browned out spots. Nice to play from. The rough was thick and lush. Tough to get good club on the ball. The green side traps were well maintained with nice sand. The fairway bunkers were firmer and less maintained. The greens rolled nice, medium speed, firm but still held approach shots well. Nice restaurant onsite, Vince, Matt & I stayed afterward and had burgers. Mine was very good. The customer service was excellent from everyone encountered. We saw the cart person once early in the day making the rounds, a rarity on a weekday morning. Nice grass driving range. Moorpark can be a really challenging track. Most holes have hazards down one or both sides. Many holes have elevation changes and forced carries over hazards, this is not a course for beginners. All 3 nines are VERY unforgiving on crooked shots, you can accumulate penalty shots in bunches here if you are more than about 10 yards left or right of almost any fairway. One of the few semi private courses in Ventura County. If you want to be challenged, this is a picturesque layout up/down rolling hills that is usually not super crowded. Definitely recommended.
