Tuscan 14 along the Skyway Photo submitted by mjmateyka on 10/04/2012
front 9 . . . fun, Back 9, . . . different story.. Challenging
Front 9, lay out plays nice as you might expect. Pars very possible. Birdies rare but also possible. Tees nice, The mid fairway markers very helpfull. But, The greens odd shape and different levels present all kinds of dillemas. Allthough not fast.. they can be very tricky makeing the befor mentioned birds Rare.
Back 9, Lay out "Not" as nice as the front. More challenging than fun. Not going hole by hole. Lets just suffice to say blind dogleg s into canyons only to find a 50 + yd. ravine to go over, to reach a fairway or a green well protected with bunkers.. (Not for your average golfer) Course knowledge will improve your experience. but maybe not your score. hey, im going for it. was our motto.. Go ahead n try it, see why. first time playing the ridge . . 88, not great. but ill take it and Go on to play another day.
GReat Time
Play was a little slow, lotsof peole playing. The new used carts are much better than the old carts.
fun
Great view of the valley. Tough greens. Fairways pretty thin on the turf. A few goofy holes but fun
a fairly young course in the foothills of northern california. short but very tough in the sense that you must keep the ball below the hole.
Members play a scorecard bump because the course is built over lava cap, so the grass is thin to non-existant in areas. Overall an enjoyable couse with a great view of the Sacramento valley and the coastal range. The view itself is worth you playing this couse. Almost always a bit of a breeze so the course plays a bit different every day. Go. Golf.
challenging course with nice greens.
Nice golf course with a great view of the valley. Challenging course with many elevation changes and plenty of obstacles to keep you honest. The faairways are a little barren but the greens are always in good condition. The staff is very friendly and helpful. very nice place to spend an afternoon.
The greens are the highlight of the course.
Driving accuracy is key - pretty rough conditions if not in the fairway. The greens are challenging: large with subtle and not so subtle breaks, but in good condition.
Course needs attention and new cart paths.
Course needs attention. Cart paths are terrible. Fairways are rough and have rocks showing. Carts die on the course.
Owner promised new cart paths years age and has not put them in.
Sunsets, Sunises... What else do you need.
Always enjoy myself here. Although the fairways are thin, the greens are best in spring. And it plays long enough in the winter to keep my game sharp.
tee box and fairways were junk.
I've played here numerous times before and was looking forward to playing again. The tee boxs and fairways, I'd say 85% of them anyway, were trashed, no grass just sand and seed
Poor value compared to Bidwell or Table Mountain
Rough, uneven tees. Understaffed snack bar...our order was lost...took one hour to eat lunch between nines. Noisey firing range and highway. Traps hard packed, not white sand with too much dirt.
Needs Attention
The greens are usually average to good condition. The tee boxes, bunkers and cart paths, however, need much attention. No GPS on carts that die at times. A little better lately. The fairways are a mixture of fair to rough condition. It's too bad, because the layout is good and has a lot of potential. Most of the staff is friendly but some don't have adequate knowledge. The clubhouse, pro shop, and food is OK. I play there with friends because it's close and we can get really good rates from golfnow.com.
This is the worst shape I have ever seen the course. Fairways like cow pasture.
The person who I talked on the phone before I booked online told me that only one 9 would be open, then waffled and said that it would all be open. Didn't mention that the work was aeration. The condition of the course was very poor. It didn't look like the fairways and aprons were mowed. There was also excess water in many areas making for muddy conditions. I am rooting for the course but cannot recommend it and don't think that I will return until they improve their maintenance. I am scheduled to play a tournament there in 3 weeks and cannot imagine that they will have it in very good shape.
Experience the Tuscan Roll
The course is located on the mud flows in the foothills between Chico and Paradise, The course is layed out amoungst the oaks and ravines and has many difficult holes. Bring some expendable balls, because if you don't have great control, you will hit some balls into the neatherlands. Also bring at least an older 3's, 5's and 7's, because you will have rocky lies. I have a set of Clevland TA5's that I bought on e-bay to play at Tuscan Ridge. Some times the Tuscan roll helps, and some times it will drive you crazy. Then, just as you are heading toward the club house, you have to hit over nasty ravines on 17 and 18.

Unique landscape
Lots of elevation changes and some blind shots. Course in decent condition, considering very hot weather.
Tuscan Ridge needs some attention.
The fairways are in need of attention. It would seem to be from a lack of water for years. The greens are good. The course generally plays quickly in the afternoon.
Has potential, needs work.
Has tremendous potential that never seems to be met by a lack of real course work. Cart paths are a total mess. Fairways are often just hard ground that is very difficult to manage.
