Fun, fun, fun
Beautiful views of the valley. Greens always in very good shape and pretty tough. Fairway can be pretty thin. Biggest issue with the course. Plenty of brown spots but after a good rain it's really nice. What's great about the course is that you can get around in under 4 hours without a problem usually. SOmeone in the way go around. Very loose regulations. I go upby myself and just pick my holes and play without waiting. Layout is definitely imaginative. Not a pro set up with dog left, dog right, straightaway. This is all over the place and it makes it fun. My serious golfer friends aren't impressed as they think they are better than they really are.
Needs Help
This course is really struggling. The carts do not have windshields and it was cool. We were restricted to cart paths due to recent rains but there were no 100 yd stakes to give you an idea your yardage as cart paths are at times far from the fairway. On some holes with blind shots there is no alignment poles when you are in the ravines. Around fairways, the rocks are really showing thru and I chipped a wedge on what I thought was on a grass lie. They didn't announce tee times so people just kept coming up to the tee and teeing off in front of us. Greens were fast and good shape but little sand in bunkers. The best part of the course is the vistas of the valley. Play the course when it is dry just for the views, but watch out for rocks under your ball.
Early Morning Round
The course was in pretty good shape. The sand traps leave something to be desired. Greens are in pretty good condition and roll well. Fairways are in good shape.
Leave your ball when you get out of the rough. Could be an advenure and make sure there arent any snakes. Hit the ball once from the rough area and hit a rock that was in the ground.
I think the biggest negative part of the round is hole 14 which is right next to a gun range. The tee box is right next to people shooting and the green is downrange of the targets.
Just had a few to many uneven tee boxes. Greens were great.
I would go again but it's a little over 100miles one way and I live closer to too many other fun golf course's.
Apple Mountain, for one. Other wise it was OK.
Fun and funky
Course has a great view of the valley. Up and down, over and around. It's a fun course. Certainly not your basic dog leg right, left and up the middle. For the "serious" golfer maybe a bit goofy but if you like diversity this place has it. Excellent and tough greens. The fairways might leave something to be desired as they can be spotty. Cart paths can knock you fillings out, stay on the fairway. Challenging for sure.
Challenging greens
I've been playing out here for about 1 year. Last summer their fairways were dry, rocky and the greens were slow. This year the fairways are still dry but they have greatly improved their greens in terms of speed and pin placement. This is a very challenging course for anyone who slices and hooks the unforgiving fairways will likely leave your ball lost or in the rocks. If you can catch a hot deal under $23 it's worth going if you like a challenge!
This course can be very difficult at times.
I had very good time, but the golf cart had a break down. I really need to play the course more to really give a better review for it was my first time on it.
letter in Chico Enterprise regarding Tuscan ridge golf. Danger!!!!
Golf course seems to have no plan for emergencies
On Sunday, Sept. 20, I was playing Tuscan Ridge Golf Course. At the 17th hole I was hit in the head with a ball and was bleeding profusely. Fortunately I had my cellphone and was able to call 9-1-1 and was told they would send someone immediately.
I had my friend take me up to the clubhouse so the medical responders could find me. A firetruck with lights and sirens along with an ambulance and supervisor for the EMTs arrived and evaluated my wound and consequently sent me to Enloe Medical Center for stitches, staples and a CAT scan. I now have staples in my scalp and a black eye.
All the while this was going on, not one person from the staff at this golf course came out to offer any assistance, bag of ice, absolutely nothing. This all took place in their parking lot right outside the clubhouse.
When later the management was approached, their only response was that they are short staffed and money is tight. Well, if someone has a heart attack or snake bite and can't get themselves to help, then what? Is it Tuscan's policy to just say "Oh well?"
There does not seem to be any policy in place to handle this situation or any other for that matter. People need to understand this before they go and play this course. It is negligence of the first order..

Excellent Round
Very enjoyable round of golf. The greens were tracking the best I have ever seen them. The staff was very friendly. It was exactly what I was looking for, a relaxing round of great golf to kick off a 5 days weekend.
Bad Course
Nothing good to say about this course. A good place for jack rabbits.
Tuscan Ridge...
This course should be the crown jewel of Chico but right now its just average. The greens were in very good condition and difficult. There was plenty of break and they were nice speed. The course itself has obviously suffered from the drought. Lots of brown spots and dead areas, plenty of lies that were more dirt than grass. Some of the tee boxes needed a lot of work, tough to find a green spot to tee it up on. Aside from that the course is fun and very challenging. If you haven't played this course before it is much more difficult. #10,17 have tough landing spots and can be difficult to play if you don't know where you are going. #18 requires a carry over the canyon so make sure your ready. Overall a fun facility that could be so much more but times are tough and for the price we got it was worth it.
Tuskin
Had a few great shots because of roll out. Not to tricky, but stay in fairway. Or bring a rock club .
If they find a real GM
This facility should be at the forefront of butte county golf at this point. But it is NOT! The owner has put a unprofessional, who cares nothing about golf, at the general manager position about 4 years ago and nothing has gotten better. Sadly the owner stands by everything this guy does. Its very unfortunate for the staff, which is constantly new because the GM does not know how to work with people, so he fires them. His greatest accomplishment is a 2 day music festival in which a couple hundred people showed. A corporate built raft to join 8000 college kids on the river. And the GM has allowed toxic spraying to go on without proper licensing .Now I`m talking about rafts, music festivals and toxics. And you may ask "What does that have to do with golf?" And my reply will be"Nothing" which is my point. The general manager does nothing at tuscan ridge golf to promote golf.In fact, just the opposite! I will continue to inform anyone who'll listen , about Tuscan ridge and its GM.
beautiful greens but tough to read
The view of the valley is beautiful. The greens are well kept and challenging and much more fun if you take a cart. Lots of rocks, so stay in fairways. A beginning golfer might not enjoy this course.
This is exciting to play, you will not get bored.
Accommodating staff. Got on course quickly. Saw a lynx!! And the golf links had several challenging holes.
My friends and I had a good experience. We got right on the course. The staff was friendly and even retrieved a left behind club. One highlight was that we saw a lynx which appeared to chase a ball, then strolled around and later leapt on to a rock where it sunned itself. So beautiful! From a novice perspective, there are several rather challenging holes where you need to hit over small, rugged canyon areas. It was a lot of fun.
decent course..but pricey and slow
Got stuck initially behind a group of 6. The marshal explained that the group were "regulars". Then 3 of them split off and we later were at the mercy of playing behind a foursome in front of them, one or two of them clearly beginners...which is fine. I like Tuscan Ridge, but today I paid $36 per person. Through golf now.com I thought I paid $29/person. This course is nice enough, but why would I pay that much for a course when they don't enforce a dress code, allow groups of 6 (I actually witnessed a second group of 6 that day), and the play is that slow. Not for $36/person, sorry. But I will be back, in the afternoon when it's worth it.
Great views
Stay on the fairways. The Greens are tough.
Cart paths need work
Fun coarse
Had a great time. A little windy and the 18th hole was closed due to wedding. The deal we received from golf now was amazing, at $14 a person with a cart.
Different, valcanic canyon terrain. Nice views. Some very tough greens.
fun easy trip . enjoyed the round of golf. nice friendly staff.
the same old story.Junk carts. poor management.
