Trump National Doral Miami - Golden Palm Course
About
The Golden Palm Course (formerly known as Gold Course) is one of five 18-hole courses at the Trump National Doral Miami. The courses offer a variety of golfing options to accommodate players of any skill level. The Golden Palm Course has a traditional Floridian layout that features subtly contoured greens and narrow fairways that are lined with trees. There is also strategic bunkering throughout as well as water hazards that come into play on 16 of the 18 holes. The golf course has a notable finishing hole that has an island green. In addition to the five courses, Trump National Doral Miami is also home to a noted golf school.

Blue Monster 1st tee Photo submitted by u000008216192 on 01/15/2017
Amazing
Everything was perfect.
The course golden palm is excellent + the staff was extremely friendly.
10/10
Great but slow
Course layout was very good, not quite as good condition as the blue but very good. Pace of play got pretty slow at the end but acceptable. Greens were quick and true. Some tees were a little sketchy but nothing awful.
Very Disappointing
Was totally looking forward to playing this club for first time. It was an awful experience. From checking in to confusion around no carts available to delayed tee time, carts would stop you with no direction as to which way to go. We finally left a couple holes early and left our cart because it got locked. The staff was very friendly and lunch was fine. This place needs a brand new process.
A Very Fun Course with Friends
The Golden Palm course is a fairly easy golf course with very open fairways and the water, while present, is rarely at play. Tee boxes were in great shape and even the rough was easy to hit good shots from. The fairways were solid, but not plush like the nicer golf courses. Bunkers are powdery and easy to escape, with a few fairway bunkers that had high lips that you should be careful of. The greens were moderate and putts were true.
I was traveling for a meeting and decided to lug my clubs around a play a relaxing round in Miami. I was able to achieve that. From the MIA airport, an Uber dropped me off where the concierge stored my luggage (since I was not staying at the resort) and sent my golf bag to the starter.
Arriving around 1020AM on a Sunday there was a brunch at the restaurant upstairs for $38 (I think.) It was normal “buffet” fare which I chose to not partake. I waited for another few minutes for the Champions Bar to have a nice lunch. The restaurant had sweeping views of the golf course, putting green, and a water fountain. Great relaxing experience for lunch. Food was OK and while the ambience was nice don’t expect a swanky dining experience.
There are two golf shops, the main BIG one and a small one dedicated to the Blue Monster. Prices were what you will expect where shirts are between $90-150 and caps are $40 and above. Huge selection for men, and a decent one for women upstairs. There is a “Sale” section tucked into the far corner upstairs where pretty good deals can be found.
The driving range is included in the fee and you’ll be given a cart to take there. There is a limit of 250 yards for the range since you’re hitting onto other golfers on the other side (it’s a face-off type of driving range). The range balls are old Taylormades and fairly scuffed, which was a disappointment but not a deal breaker by any means.
The starter, Buddy, I think, was amazing. A fairly experienced gentleman, he gave you a good idea of the course, sent you off with some tees and ball markers, and treated me well and with a smile. Cold bottled water is available for free and carts have ice boxes which you can refill once in the back 9 (hole 12 or 13) I think.
Overall, it was a great experience for me. Relaxing. Fairly easy course. Great maintenance. Friendly service. Good price.
Not up to expected standards of a prestigious course
I played the golden palms course on a Saturday in January. I expected the course to be busy as it is a weekend and I was playing just before 1pm. I arrived 2-1/2 hours early of my tee time.
I proceeded to the pro shop where I purchased rental clubs for my round. I figured with the time I had I could go to the range and the putting green to get some practice before my round. After trying to find the location to get my rental clubs for 15 minutes, I made it to the cart station where there was one staff member working to load about 40 people/golf bags and carts to start rounds. This is a Saturday afternoon and they had one staff member working for all 4 courses loading players onto carts and getting rental clubs. It took almost an hour to get clubs and a cart.
The staff member who provided me with everything was apologetic for the wait/service. I could not blame him because he was hustling all by himself. They were understaffed. Other players were definitely mad about the wait and made it verbally known.
The rental clubs were nice (stealth driver and irons) but some of the clubs were dirty when I received them. The driver had no head cover and face was full of dirt. The cart I received was one a player just left after his round. It was not cleaned and the dirty towels from the previous round were left in the cart.
Luckily enough I arrived early enough where I had some time to hit the range.
I finally made it to the first hole of golden palms and was enjoying my time until we reached the second hole. By then we already caught up to the foursome ahead of us. This foursome was drinking heavily and moving extremely slow. On every hole with water they were fishing balls out with us standing on the tee box waiting. They had at minimum 2 holes ahead of them open at all times.
Course conditions were below expectations. The greens were beat up and had many repairs on them. Some of the tee boxes were beat up as well. I guess I just expected more for the price of the round.
All In all, I just expected more from this course and staff for the amount of money I was paying. I hope the next time I am in town and have the chance to play, the logistics are improved.
Pretty good with one exception
The course was beautiful but you’re a long ways from the club house. The cart girl didn’t come around for 13 holes. Stock up before going out cause once you’re on the course you’re on your own. Pro shop was awesome, staff was amazing and it was an experience.
Golden Palm
Condition was mediocre
Tee boxes chewed up
Greens were in fair condition at best
Fairways were not in great condition
Overall for the money the blue monster is the
far better way to go
Great value through Golfnow at the very least minute. Highly recommend to secure a tee time via Golfnow
Very, Very Unimpressed
Totally not worth the money! We spent much of the round frustrated with the course. There's very little signage so you can go down a path a while before realizing you're in the wrong place. There was one bathroom for our entire 18 holes. The entire 18 is away from the clubhouse so if you finish nine holes and expect to grab a hot dog, you're SOL. There's no food on the course. When we found a ranger, he assured us he would get us a cart girl that would take our food order and bring it to us. When we finally saw the cart girl SIX HOLES later, she had no idea what he was talking about and couldn't bring us food. Also, course wasn't in great shape at all. We left very disappointed and will never go back!
A Pleasant Surprise
Having played the other courses at Doral, I was expecting the Golden Palm Course to be a poor stepchild of the other three. But, it’s not. It holds its own with any course in Florida , and compared to the other three, it’s a bargain.
