the course has lots of potential money must be very tight not much grass

I have played this course for years, it has deteriorated over the years but I never thought it would get as bad as it was today. Very sparse grass on the fairways, rocks everywhere in the fairways. Sand traps with no sand, just what seemed to be hard gravel and weeds. Had a day old polish dog at the turn which was obviously at least a day old. There is now a ping pong table in the pro shop where there used to be items for purchase. It was not expensive but I still feel like $25.00 was too much. I hope they figure something out because I will not be going back anytime soon. If you go, bring some clubs you don't mind hitting off hard clay and rocks.

Even when landing in the fairways, every hole except par 3s, my ball was on hard dirt. Manager asked me to have the cart back in at 530 pm. It gets dark at 615. What, in a hurry to get home? A little grass seed please.

Fairways are in very poor condition with much bare dirt or spotty grass. Range mats are full of tears and you must purchase a rubber tee to hit driver.

This was my first time playing this course and it will definitely be my last. This course is not well maintained and the pace of play was excruciatingly slow. The layout is not designed to be a fair challenge to the golfer, but to be annoyingly difficult i.e. trees overhanging tee boxes, small greens with no grass to stop the ball from rolling 50 feet down the hill. I only payed $10 for this tee time so I am not overly disappointed. The only positive was the great view of Sacramento and the costal mountains from the 10th tee.

First played this course in 2001. At that time, I loved the layout and the scenery. But at that time, the grass in the fairways and tee boxes was sparse. Nothing has changed 13 years later. Please, plant some grass seed and make this course what it could be!

The course is in overall good shape this Fall, very playable. Greens are looking great. Fairways are getting better with the rain, but you'll still be aiming for the "good grass" off the tees. Stay out of the Bunkers they are hard as rock. Good practice green and Driving range. This is a great place to work on your game!

For those people who criticized the conditions of this course, you have to put it in perspective. This is a "foothills" course, that is, it's in high desert and the course is watered by wells on the course. I appreciate the owner NOT drawing upon the scarce water resources of EID, rather, making do with less. One or two greens could be better, but that's true of many courses I play. I'm happy to play there and am glad such a beautiful course in near my home.

Fun course with senic views of Folsom lake and coastal mountains to the west.

The course appeared never kept the maintenance. Pot holes and bumps everywhere. Fairways not worked at all. Greens were full of unprepared divots and goose dungs. The worst experience in golfing for the last 18 years, including in overseas underdeveloped countries. Will never return to this course nor recommend to anyone.

Grass on fairways is nonexistent !! Greens are in good shape though.

I have played this course for a number of years and now it is in its poorest condition yet. I live close by and always had great hope it would be a quality course. It was originally a 9 hole course then expanded to 18. The original 9 holes were always poorly maintained right from the beginning. The back nine were originally in pretty good condition; however, it did not take long for the condition to degrade.

For the past few years I limited play to just one or two times per year. Each time I hoped the owners would start putting some effort into restoring the course. Yesterday, I took a new player to the course. I am sad to report it is in the worst condition I have ever seen. I have never played ANY golf course that was in such poor condition. Most Tee boxes were weeds/dirt and fairways were mostly dirt with limited grass. It appears the only part the owners put any effort in are the greens, they are acceptable.

I realize in times of drought golf courses will suffer, but Bass Lake GC is in poor condition regardless. I hope a new owner who has the resources’ to rehabilitate the course can purchase it, if not, I am sure will not we able to stay open much longer.

The greens were in terrific shape although on the small side, unfortunately the rest of the course was in dismal shape. Bare fairways, overgrown with weeds and burnt out patches of grass.
A very challenging layout that is impossible to navigate without first hand knowledge. Went out as a single and had trouble with the many blind shots and hidden greens.
Would not return due primarily to condition of fairways and rough.

I've wanted to play here for some time because it's close to my home. I'm glad I finally did because it was a fun round and is my new home course.

It is a challenge for me and also has some fun holes.
There's just enough change in elevation that I like, I love downhill par 3's.

The fairways are very hard and need water badly, the lakes are almost dry, the drought has taken it's toll here but you can tell that with some water it will be an excellent place to play.

It cost me twenty bucks for a cart and eighteen holes if you tee off after 11am, otherwise it's 28.

You can't play real golf without the basics. This would include grass on the tee box and fairways.

For all intents and purposes you might as well take a seven iron...a wedge...and a putter. The notion of hitting down and thru the ball on this course right now would net you an X-ray on your wrists.

Just was not fun at all.

This course was in horrible shape I kinda of wanted to ask for a refund but how could I? We paid only ten dollars. The pictures must have been taken during this courses prime. Everything was brown rocks damaged my clubs. Tee boxes and the greens were the only decent areas overall I give this course a negative one star. Ive seen cow pastures with better grass.

Very bad drought conditions, the only color green was the greens, the fairways were red clay dirt, dead weeds and lots of gofer holes...did I say LOTS of gofer holes?
Also, they have a LOCAL rule I didn't find out about until I got there.... one must be 18 years old with a valid drivers licenes to drive a cart on THEIR course>>>WHAT?!? The 17 year old in my group had to WALK with a pull cart and it was 95 degrees. I was extreamly disapointed and won't recommend this golf course.

I played here for the first time in about 5years and I was shocked regarding the condition of the course. Only thing growing was the greens. Fairways either dead or with weeks growing all over. Won't play here again until the course is in better condition.

The Golfnow price was right for this course. Sketchy T Boxes, very little grass in the fairways and very soft and slow green. Hit your first shot to the designated striped pole in the fairway, and check the map on the scorecard for green locations. Many are hidden. You must hit straight on this course or will be OB.

Cost was $10 for the hot, afternoon hours. The course is tough, and the dry, foothill conditions make it tougher. Club bounce is an issue in the fairways and around the greens.
