You name it and it needs work. Even a 2 for 1 special would not entice me to play here again.

half my shots were from hard pan dirt lies, pathetic!

There seems to be no desire by the owners and grounds crew to field a golf course that resembles a golf course. It's a hard pan desert mud flat with no grass. I wouldn't play the course again if you paid me!

Poor overall condition.

The course fairways lack grass requiring the golfer to hit off hardpan dirt on most holes. Do to the up and down terrain the ball will continue to roll downhill and not stop when trying to set up the next shot to the green. Chances are that you will find your ball in some type of hazard. In simple terms the fairways need a lot of work for the seasoned golfer to enjoy his/her game.

Greens generally in nice condition

Some tight fairways, lacks a lot of fairway grass, but greens are nice to putt on.....

This course is to be avoided!

The condition of this course is not good- fairways are dry, hard, bare dirt- greens are good overall- tees are uneven, course. Worst of all are the course obstacles of gulches, ditches, dried up and water hazards crossing your ball's flight path. This is not a place to golf unless you are desperate.

Fairway in poor condition, hitting off hard pan.

The course need alot of maintenance. The fairways dry, greens had been aerated. I like the layout of the course, too bad the fairways were in such poor condition. The sand traps were either in hard or wet condition.

Very disappointing

This course has the potential to be a very enjoyable course, but the course is very poorly maintained. This outing was a gift, I was taking two associates out for a round of golf and then dinner. I have never been so embarrassed in my life! The fairways were in terrible shape, and the greens were just plugged (which was NEVER mentioned when I booked the tee-time, or when we checked in. The greens were also dry as dry could be, and covered with sand! I understand the plugging process, but this was completely unacceptable.
At the turn we decided to stop at the cafe to grab a quick bite & a drink. We were rudely told it was after hours for the cafe and they were closed, this was at 1:15pm on a Saturday afternoon (and the cafe sign even indicated that they closed at 2:00pm). So we decided to grab a quick drink at the bar before moving on with the back nine. The bartender was more interested in watching tv than taking care of the only customers he had at the bar!
With all this said, I had made two calls into the course the following week to express my disappointment and embarrassment. I couldn't even get the staff to cooperate on the phone to pass along the manager's contact info to me.
Like I said earlier, the course has potential, but it is very obvious the staff working there have no interest, and no concept of customer service!
My suggestion to all fellow golfers...pay the additional money for Apple Mountain or Empire Ranch, and stay away from Bass Lake until management makes changes!

Terrible course conditions. Not worth the price.

Everything seemed nice until I drove through the entrance. They do have a nice fake putting practice area, but that is the best thing about this place. The driving range was mostly weeds. Check-in was speedy and easy but then I got to hole one. Every tee box on this course is in bad shape. Lots of dirt spots and crab grass. The fairways are a joke. A little bit of "grass" near the tee box, then it's mostly dirt with sparse patches of grass. They had just aerated the greens so that was fun putting on. Lots of ball jumping. I know that isn't necessarily their fault but they should let you know beforehand. There was also a lot of sand on the greens. Bring your cheap balls if you play here. Most of the edges of the fairway are blackberry brambles, so you aren't getting a ball back if you hit into them. I definitely will not be going back. it's a shame that they do not put more effort into taking care of the course.

course needs attention on fairways

On the day we played the front nine was shut down for aeration. Which we did not know ahead of time. Play on the first nine was extremely slow due to the backup. Fairways and tee boxes need to be redone.. I believe some of the fairways lack irrigation so there are large areas with no grass at all. On the second nine holes we were practically alone as most quit due to the slow play. Yet I would still recommend the course, you have to play for position use the guide book they provide and don't over hit off the tees.

Course could be great with proper maintenance. Fairways were non existent on some holes. Grass fairways that is.

Staff was late at the pro shop in the morning. I had a 7:02 tee time and the pro shop didn't open until 7:15. Greens were well manicured, but the rest of the course was in poor shape, especially the front nine. Probably won't play here again, even with the groupon rate that is available.

Don't bother!

Way overpriced and under maintained. Grass would come in handy, especially on this kind of course with mostly hilly and sloping fairways. Play was pretty slow with a lot of inexperienced players on the course, but no marshals to help out. Tee boxes poor. Fairways awful. Greens good. Parking lot littered. Even the food and drinks are overpriced. Four of us had a couple of tasteless beers and a lousy hotdog and chips each... over $60 with tax and tip! No wonder the snack bar is usually empty. Never again.

Bass Lake Golf Course

This was by far and away the worst course I have ever seen. It appeared the course had not been watered for weeks and the fairways had large rocks scattered all over the place. I recently bought a new 3 wood and would not hit it because of the course conditions. The conditions were so bad we decided to end our round after 8 holes. I asked a staff member what the deal was and he just shrugged his shoulders and apologized. I only get to play once every five to six weeks so I was extremely disappointed.

Overall horrible experience.

Fun course

Excellent greens, need a bit of course knowledge to get through a few holes. Very dry in many spots, but that is to be expected at this time of year in the norther CA foothills.

Just needs a little TLC...

Bass Lake is still its quirky little self. The greens were actually in very good condition...but, it's certain little things that are still a problem. Primarily the tee boxes and bunkers really need attention. And I'm not really sure what can be done about the incredible amount of goose dung there is around this course...they should almost offer a complimentary shoe and cart cleaning with every round! And let's get real...no way should 18 be a par 5. Oddly enough, this little course still intrigues me. Just give it the care and attention it needs, and they could really have a little gem on their hands.

ok if you get a hot deal, otherwise over priced for what you get.

Little grass in fairways. Bounces are unpredictable, lot of dirt and rocks. Greens were ok considering the heat. The course layout is a challenge and would be a lot more fun to play if it was in better shape.

Fun layout but dry

Personally, I enjoy this course, but the price is a little steep given the conditions. Much of the course is as dry as concrete, which would not present as much of a problem if the round were cheaper.
