Poor course management
The course needs a marshal willing to speed up the pace of play. The course attracts many new golfers that don’t understand course etiquette.
Poor experience
We booked our tee time online at Golfnow. We arrived about an hour early and told the guy at the cash register that we were ready to go and could tee off early. He said that because we booked out tee time online their policy is to now let us tee off early. I watched the tee box at the first hole and there wasn't a steady group of golfers waiting to tee off. There were times when nobody was waiting to tee off. We could have easily teed off early. To make things worse, we ended up getting stuck behind a very slow foursome. By only the fourth hole they were already behind by two holes. By the time the group ahead of them were teeing off on the fifth hole, they were barely finishing putting out on the third hole. By the time they got to the fifth hole, the group in front of them were already on the seventh hole. They did not allow us to play through until hole number 11 or 12. We never saw any marshal or beer cart person to ask for help so we were on our own out there. The bunkers are full of rocks too.
Great layout.
Great layouts, played the white tees (I'm 71) shot an 90, greens are very big. Teed off at 11:42 took 4.5 hours, not bad.
Good average course
Yucaipa is a good average course to play on a weekday. The only two issues are the tee boxes and the bunkers. Most of the tee boxes are sloped (not level) so I had to choke up a little bit. The bunkers are rocks and dirt (not sand). The course was wet from the storms so it was "cart path only" but the course actually wasn't too bad.
Good value on hot deal but otherwise not so much
They need to do a much better job on monitoring the t box. A single followed by a twosome followed by a foursome followed by another single and a twosome is just stupid. This is a regular problem at yucaipa and it is unprofessional. Singles and twosomes should expect to get paired. It is part of the social contract of golf. Starters should just do it. It’s not hard
Weather has left it a little rough
All the rain and inconsistent watering have left it a little rough. A lot if thin lies, t areas are rough.
Great value with a hot deal but a little expensive given the conditions if paying daily fees.
Still recommend Yucaipa golf experience on a golf now hot deal.
Just ok at best
No winter care at all. Tee boxes are mostly dirt. Traps as usual are hard and mostly unplayable. Greens are the only redeeming quality and they are marginal. They did replace the driving range Matt’s though.
Such a good course
Parking is good and they have a fully outfitted pro shop. Staff as friendly golf carts are acceptable and the practice facility is limited to putting and driving range mats. No shipping facility shipping is not allowed.
The tea boxes are in good shape. Fairways are good for winter conditions and the greens roll true. There is some cancer on some of the greens on Halls number two and 18 but mostly all the greens are in above average conditions.
A few annoying things about the course are the lack of food availability. Food choices are relatively limited. Drinks in the pro shop are OK. No Carte girl no Marshall but play was relatively good for a Sunday afternoon. One of the annoying things is that the golf carts are not allowed in the parking lot so you have to walk all your clubs Back to your vehicle and carry them to the cart when you begin your round. And they have bars up to keep your cart from going into the parking lot. That was extremely annoying. But all in all it is a good round of golf, and a good facility .
Thank you for the kind words.
Wasn't Permitted to Play
Despite purchasing a Hot Deal on Golf Now, and driving 50 miles to get there, I wasn't permitted to play because I had brought my special needs brother to sit with me in the cart. Unbeknownst to me, the course has a policy of no riders. I would like Golf Now to credit my Hot Deal amount and restore the coupon I used to get the discount.
I'm sorry you were not notified of the no spectator policy.
I'm sorry you did not enjoy you round here at Yucaipa Valley. We in the dormant season this time of year you will see a drastic change over the next 60 days. Please give us another chance during the spring season.
