Save your money
Worst golf course around. Terrible pace of play, staff and overall experience. Very over priced for conditions. Save your money and play at a real golf course.
Great layout
On course maintenance needed. The greens were in bad shape, bunkers are hard pan. It’s a great place to escape the heat, but little else. Great layout, interesting elevation changes, just fix the greens and the traps and this could be a winner.
Great layout
Loved the layout, elevation changes and overall condition on a course that gets a lot of play. Easy 3 1/2 round. Half the cost of Palm Springs gives this great value. Unfortunately we played 2 weeks after the greens were punched and sanded, so the greens were very inconsistent without much opportunity to score well.
Friendly Staff Great Pace
I like the course for the price point. I like the friendliness of the staff and patrons. I was playing alone and was invited to play with the guy ahead of me. The pace was the best I’ve experienced. Round was played in 4 hours.
Annual Aeration
They just aerated the course. This impacted the play but they did discount the round. This course continues to have issues with its greens not getting burned, sick and areas staying in good shape. Not sure why this is so hard but it makes it difficult to pay much as the course is usually in need of repair. Also need to get more golf carts. Sorry you have had issues but often wait for golf carts.
Gestapo Starter
I live out of state but come back to So Cal often and I like the course and its layout. Enjoy most everything but the starter. Dude has a serious Napoleon Complex. Yelled at us for moving our cart to the tee box, even as it was our time to go off. Yelled, "I've got to check you in"!! I said, "alright, take it easy, it's not that big of a thing." we went back and forth about how important his job is. I just laughed at walked away. He really makes the experience leave a bad taste and needs to be told to slow his roll.
Poor course management
The course needs a marshal willing to speed up the pace of play. The course attracts many new golfers that don’t understand course etiquette.
Poor experience
We booked our tee time online at Golfnow. We arrived about an hour early and told the guy at the cash register that we were ready to go and could tee off early. He said that because we booked out tee time online their policy is to now let us tee off early. I watched the tee box at the first hole and there wasn't a steady group of golfers waiting to tee off. There were times when nobody was waiting to tee off. We could have easily teed off early. To make things worse, we ended up getting stuck behind a very slow foursome. By only the fourth hole they were already behind by two holes. By the time the group ahead of them were teeing off on the fifth hole, they were barely finishing putting out on the third hole. By the time they got to the fifth hole, the group in front of them were already on the seventh hole. They did not allow us to play through until hole number 11 or 12. We never saw any marshal or beer cart person to ask for help so we were on our own out there. The bunkers are full of rocks too.
Great layout.
Great layouts, played the white tees (I'm 71) shot an 90, greens are very big. Teed off at 11:42 took 4.5 hours, not bad.
Good average course
Yucaipa is a good average course to play on a weekday. The only two issues are the tee boxes and the bunkers. Most of the tee boxes are sloped (not level) so I had to choke up a little bit. The bunkers are rocks and dirt (not sand). The course was wet from the storms so it was "cart path only" but the course actually wasn't too bad.
Good value on hot deal but otherwise not so much
They need to do a much better job on monitoring the t box. A single followed by a twosome followed by a foursome followed by another single and a twosome is just stupid. This is a regular problem at yucaipa and it is unprofessional. Singles and twosomes should expect to get paired. It is part of the social contract of golf. Starters should just do it. It’s not hard
