Beautiful resort course
Very pretty scenery and lots of topo. Course gets very little play and is in great condition. Lots of wildlife. Greens are a llittle slow but fairways are lush and wide. A great resort course if you are staying at Peninsula Papagayo.
Great Golf experience
My wife and I played this course with another couple during a company incentive trip. It was expensive but worth the memories. We rented clubs and they were Titleist AP2's. With the rental clubs it was $250 per person. However the course was beautiful and you must play here if you come to Costa Rica. It was very hot, 100 and humid. But as long as you stay hydrated, you will be rewarded with some awesome tee shots from elevated tees. We saw monkeys, green parrots, large iguanas and even a Coatimundi!
Nice Course
The course was in pretty good condition when I played it in February. The course itself is pretty easy, but the greens are very challenging. Not speedy, but the subtle breaks will get you. The drives between holes are a bit long. A few holes on the back nine feel crammed in. Overall, a pretty good course.
Great Course in An Awesome Setting!!!
The Four Seasons Golf Course at Peninsula Papagayo, should definitely be on any golfers "bucket list"!!! The setting is amazing and the staff goes out of their way to make your round very enjoyable.
The course plays much shorter than the scorecard due to many elevated tees and open fairways, but the greens can be very "diabolical" to read at time. The breaks appear to be very subtle, but can definitely ruin a round if you cannot get the speed correct.
The wildlife (monkeys, coatis and iguanas) were something to see and the views of the ocean were spectacular!!! It's not cheap, but if you want to play a spectacular course, I would highly recommend it. I will definitely play it the next time I make the trip to Costa Rica.
Golf in Paradise
I have played about 40 courses on someone's top 100 list. This is easily a top 100 for setting and beauty. There are probably 10 holes that could be signature holes on any course you could play. If you are looking for a course to play that is fun, picturesque, and challenging, this is it! If your wife doesn't play golf and needs to be pampered while you play, this is it. The resort is expensive but the views rival anything in Hawaii or Mexico. $15 for a beer. The course is located about 45 minutes from the Liberia, Costa Rica airport. It is served by United and Southwest. About a 3 hour flight from Houston.
It is all about the view
To get to use a golf now certificate was a bonus but had to call golfnow to get them to work out how the course got paid. Note trying to reach the US from Costa Rica was not easy but the Golf Now receptionists took care of the problem once they were on the phone.
The course is stunning!
Beautiful Course BUT
The Good; The course has spectacular vistas. The upkeep is great. The Average: Not an extremely difficult course. Wide, wide open fairways. The BAD: Used Golf Now and the Assistant General Manager of the course, at the GM's direction, was told they did not accept the reservation and asked me to pay the full rate also. That is correct, I paid Golf Now and now the course is asking for their full rate too. They seemed to think it was my issue to handle and only after discussions for an hour (yes, an hour!# did they say they could call Golf Now. After a 2 minute conversation with Golf Now, all of the sudden I did not have to repay. I was shocked that a 5 Star resort/course had no such knowledge of Golf Now # I think they did due to discussions with the Asst GM who mentioned they had been to a convention in Orlando that they attended and discussed the use of Golf Now), was not willing to assist and basically tried to get me to pay again. In summery, if you plan on golfing in a foreign country and using Golf Now ... call GN to confirm the process if the club does not accept the pre paid receipt.
Sharing this on social media. Great pics. We're also making you a Local Golf Advisor. Congrats and thanks for the contributions.
