Outstanding Value
The course is in great shape, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful! I teed off at 3:24pm and completed 18 holes in 2:59, and that is after catching 2 foursomes and playing behind them for the last 5 holes.
Fun course with challenging greens
Had a fun time, started off as a single and was later joined by two other players. The pace seemed fairly smooth for a Sunday afternoon. Fairways were pretty accommodating even if I lost one to the left there was usually enough bail out room. The greens were in pretty good shape seemed really soft but the ball tended to run out on a couple shots. The service was quick and friendly I also had a burger and fries after the round so the food was good and was a nice venue to relax. As a visitor to Sacramento getting here was pretty easy with UBER and the rental club were not bad at all seemed clean and in almost new shape. I'll definitely be back
Great fairways, nice course.
Great fairways, fun round on a well groomed course. Course was in excellent shape.
Good course but slow play
First time playing Haggin Oaks. Played the McKenzie tees which really stretches this course out to its max. of 7030 yds. Course was in good condition and greens were receptive and putted fair. Not a particularly exciting layout. For as much staff is around it would have been nice to see a Marshall more. We were stuck behind a painfully slow group all day. When the Marshall finally showed up on the sixteenth hole we told him about it. He talked to them and for the last 1 1/2 holes it was better. Would have been nice if he had been around to do his job earlier! Staff was friendly and if your looking for golf gear they have the biggest pro shop in Nirthern Cal. Historic course, worth they play at least once. I would probably return.
Haggin
Good layout. Greens were slow and bumpy. There was a Marshall out there with water for the first 6 holes after that we didn't see him. All the water jugs on the course were empty. No biggie I guess, it was only 107 degrees out.
I always enjoy this course
Over-watered in some places, need more sand in bunkers, and there was water in several of them. Fairways and greens in excellent condition.
Greens were nice
Overall, conditions were good, for a Thursday I am very happy they have a nice shift of beverage carts going around and till late in the day too.
Great Experience
Great course for the price.
Great course
Over all great golf course. The only downer was that the ninth hole is nowhere near the proshop so don't expect to grab a bite to eat and something to drink at the turn. Other than that two thumbs up !
course--fine/ golfadvisor--poor
golfadvisor did not advise of aerification process going on. Greens were sanded. However, course reduced rates because of the aerification to a reasonable rate.
Weather was perfect, course was well kept.
The course layout was good and the staff were friendly. Slow pace but enjoyed the game.
Decent course , look for a price break online
The course has undergone many changes over the years. The present layout is ok but nothing exciting. One good feature is the multiple tee options that make the distance manageable for any level of golfer. The greens were bumpy but deceptively fast. Pace of play was good. It's an enjoyable course but not really worth 50$.
Alister Mackenzie it's not...
Course was not in bad condition considering the time of year... Pace was a bit slow... Greens were bumpy... Many trees have been removed, pretty wide open... Fun to play...
Old School Par
Lets do this Course Again.
Bring back the way Golf was played.
Chilly but great golf
Frost delay so play was a little slower than usual. Challenging course with hazards and lots of bunker play. The snack cart lady was super!
all carry
played long after rain the day before,,perfect weather,,was paired up with two really cool guys
Good course, great value
Course was recommended by a friend sometime ago; wish I played it sooner! Tee boxes are for the most part in good shape. Fairways are very generous and flat, good for beginners. The challenge comes around the green. Bunkers protect the greens, yet gives nice entrance to the greens, and they have real sand! The greens are fast with lots of undulations...a real challenge of putting skills. I'll definitely play the course on an early tee time when grass is not too long!
Perfect morning for golf
I played as a single because my usual playing partner was not able to make it, his loss. I was playing on Thursday morning with a 7:27am tee time because i have a GCAT tournament there on Sunday. I have played both courses at Haggis Oaks many times, but this is probably the best shape I have seen the Mackenzie course in, ever. The greens had been recently sanded, but rolled true and really looked great. Fairways were very good and the rough was uniform and just long enough to make those shots more difficult to execute. We were a threesome and we played in 3 1/2 hours. The foursome in front of us took off and we never waited on them all day. The foursome behind us did wait on us a couple of times as we keep pushing to keep up our pace. The weather was cool to start, but perfect as we got rolling, I played very well and really enjoyed my round. I will be playing Mackenzie again soon.
