A good Monday
I found that I had an upcoming Monday free. So of course, I checked to see if Haggin Oaks had any slots available. I found a great deal online and aside from a rough start to the round (what's the bird equivalent of a quad bogey?) It was a great round on a perfect day for golf.
Pleasantly surprised.
It has been a while since playing here. I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised with the course condition. Another plus was the beverage cart since it was very warm day.
Great layout
Always enjoy playing the MacKensie course It is challenging, but also has some scoring holes
Great Pace Of Play
Played on a Sunday, Course was busy, but pace was great. Under 4 hours on a Sunday.
Great course
Got out early and the course was perfect, will come back again!
I normally enjoy playing this course, but...
On Labor Day they had scheduled the State Fair Tournament and when I scheduled my twosome Golf Now didn't advise me of this wrinkle. The problem is that this course normally has some bottlenecks where play will backup. However, for the State Fair Tournament, they change the sequence of the holes so you start on #2 as your first hole and then drive to #4 as your #2 hole. The ride between the new #6 and #7 holes seemed like almost 1/2 mile although I'm sure it wasn't. As a result, while we had paid for 18 holes we quit at the end of 9 holes because this layout was causing play to move at a snails pace and we would not have finished before it got dark.
Great time!
Iced towels on the 9th hole. Great cart beverage service. Well watered greens and fairways. Awsome proshop staff. If only they had maintained the bunkers to match the standards they achieved with the rest of the course I'd given 5 stars.
Great staff, boring course
Don't get me wrong the course was in great condition. But it was just boring every hole just felt similar. Course was just too plain, but I get it, there's history here and it has that traditional feel to it. Great staff, really friendly. If you come here just prepare for big fairways, repeat holes, trains moving and traffic on way home.
Great course conditions
The course was in great condition probably due to the recent Senior US Open played locally at Del Paso County Club. It shows if they want to make the course nice they can. It's been a couple years having played there and I've never seen the conditions so nice in the past. I look forward to playing again soon in case they begin to neglect it. In my experience in the past it was usually in fair condition at best. I really hope they keep up the recent good work!
With the water shortage one of the nicest courses to play for the money
With the water shortage one of the nicest courses to play for the money. We were nicely surprised at the great Way this course is being taken care of , Another real plus is a great pro shop and you can buy any size shoes and a real reasonable price also
Good playing consitions
The course and greens especially were in the best shape I have seen. It has been some time since I played it and it wasn't as good in the past. Th course was in really good shape for anytime.especially considering the drought. Very pleasant surprise. I played very early so playing time was only slowed down by the mowing of the greens. Later on I am not sure what pace of play would be. The gentleman in the proshop at check in was a really good guy as was the gentleman when getting my cart. It was a good start to Fathers Day.
Great day
Was able to get great deal on golf now. Teed off at 3 beatiful day . Golf course in great condition. Golf course built in the 30s amazing how great layouts stand the test of time. Big course from the black tees. Got in about 25 holes .Pace of play outstanding.
no problem
the pace of play was slow for discount day. to be expected. otherwise very nice
First Time at Haggin Oaks
Just moved to Sacramento and played here at the suggestion of some long time friends. I found the staff in both the Pro Shop and the Retail Store to be very friendly and attentive. Played the round in 5 hours which didn't surprise me but I would have like to play a bit faster. Course was in fairly good condition but not great which wasn't a show stopper considering the drought. It was a very enjoyable day at Haggin Oaks.
fun course
pace of play was great for a sunday. greens in good shape.
Back nine clutter
I enjoy playing early morning golf because the pace of play is usually better. The front 9 was played in about 1.5 hours. Then at 10 we were surrounded by a back nine shotgun event that had 2 foursomes ahead & behind us. We were not told of this when we started play, but were given rain checks for 9 holes. Although it was not a complete loss, players should be advised that they will not be able to play the full round when signing in.
pace of play
As I am a regular player at Haggin Oaks and the pace of play is typically 4.5 hours. Course was in good condition and green ran fast. My complaint is when you book online it would be nice to have a disclaimer stating that there is a large Jr tournament on that particular day. It took 6 hours to finish my round. With a Jr tournament in process when is someone going to teach these kids and parents proper pace of play and ediquite.
Good course but need to bring your iPad
Course was great but the pace was slow. 6 hours to play 18 holes.
Great course to play any time has lots of shade and vary close to freeway for quick access
Course is in great shape, greens are true and have not been punched for a while. Beware of the rough balls tend to get lost easily.
